just played a bit

It's like
"What if we made a mash between Battlefield, Planetside, Squad and Tarkov?"

The result is just ok
way too ambitious for the things it's trying all at once.

a fun mess that's fun with friends but might be a kick in the balls solo/with poor teammates

I'm so fucking bad at the game
I might just give up on combat and become a transport slut
>>
Really hate the personal economy system, it should just be a shared economy that's centralized and team wide.
Also not a single soul placed a FOB or similar, therefore supply runs with choppers/logi trucks are next to non existant.

Also for fuck's sake, did they really have to copy the UI from modern warfare that bad? Really feels like I'm playing temu Delta Force, which is funny since Delta Force is already temu battlefield.
>>
>>2809217
The consolized UI is bizarre.

I don't know if there is any point to logi yet but every game i've played in has had FOBs. Normally just heavily fortified to house the spawn APC.

I did have a game yesterday where we went 80-3-3 on green only for the other two teams to start ganging up on us buy building shit tonnes of AA emplacements to deny our heli transport while they hot dropped helis on our heads for 1 hour. They nearly made a come back but we eventually got our guys on the point and won.
>>
I'm liking the game but i am a complete novice into the "big map team FPS" subgenre
What should i play if i wanted to lean further into it? BF? Squad?
>>
>>2809271
I played for like 5 hours yesterday on EU servers and not even once there was a FOB

Nobody uses chat or team mics so me, as a heli pilot ferrying people and supplies, I never have a clue where I'm supposed to bring people and shit to. Also heli players are at a disadvantage on supply drops. You have to MANUALLY load them. Don't know what ammo type your team is using? Well, too bad because you bought 7.62 while they were using 7.62x54. Crates also have pitiful max drop rates. At best, you're talking 80 meters. Nobody in chat/VC calls supplies either so I'm mostly just dropping them to my discord buddies.

Nobody ever takes out AA emplacements/IGLA users so I'm basically fucked if they have one camping on some hill since I'm never ever gonna get any support.

It's a game that wants the individual player to make loads of money, but some roles don't really make much and their expenses add up a lot. Like I have to pay for my fuel and repairs and I'm lucky if I break even from a few hot drops. Die 2 times quickly? I'm now down 14k since scout choppers are 6k a pop.

I hate the magazine system in concept too. Manual loading and other bullshit.

It just feels like they added the economy and tarkov systems just to stand apart from Squad/HLL but they also didn't properly copy their other shit like SLs and Commanders.
>>
>>2809422
my fix would be
>every team starts with 1mil in the bank, it's shared between every member
>FOBs can generate some passive income by building the oil drills
>controlling map drills gets big bucks
>there are multiple maps and in a line, connected to eachother
>each base has an upkeep cost of Y resources every couple of minutes
>if no logi trucks/logi choppers come to refuel them, the base starts deteriorating and becomes easier to assault since the defences are down (like AA emplacements or mounted LMGs)
>only 2 teams instead of this wierd fuck fuck threeway
>playermade FOBs allow for more bold positioning and strategies

enemies can set up ambushes to catch logi trucks to disrupt frontline supply and there's more incentive to play logistics rather than just hot dropping into the zone 24/7, dying and then rinse and repeat.

Basically, make it more like Planetside 1
>>
>>2809280
Depends on your tastes
Want ultra casual fun where all you need to worry about is just killing? Battlefield
Want a game that's a bit more complex and requires more teamwork but not enough that you can still enjoy it casually? Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm 2 Vietnam
Want a game all about multiple battlefronts where you can be a smaller cog in a massive machine that takes multiple days if not weeks to complete? Planetside 2/Foxhole
Want a game that's more about spending 5 hours getting to the battle, transporting logistics and overall spending most of your time laying down on your stomach? Arma3 or Reforger/Squad/HLL
>>
>>2809280
Well both are dead so this is probably your best bet for an FPS that isn't an extraction or battle royale. There's Arma Reforger but that's got a slew of technical issues. Don't listen to the other anon, he doesn't know what he's talking about.
Red Orchestra is good too, but I didn't play much of Vietnam and idk how dead it is now.
>>
>>2809475
BF6 just launched the new season a few weeks ago
and Squad has almost 20k concurrent players

what are YOU talking about

though yeah RS2 Vietnam is basically dead, you're best off waiting for HLL:Vietnam desu
>>

Nobody on EU servers ever uses mics on these games. You are playing with a mix of arabs, yuros, slavs and chinese on EU servers. Play US servers if you want mics and chatty folk. Although at the moment the game is fresh so there's more mic users than usual on EU.

Don't bother with ammo or supplies unless someone requests it, the logi system isn't implemented properly yet from what I can see. Outside of statics I don't think there's a need for any logi yet. I can build a compound on a few supplies crates I can bring in a backpack.
>Nobody in chat/VC calls supplies either
Yeah cause they don't need them, you can die respawn/get revived easily and there's no need to fortify anything except towers because the zone moves all the time. The big zone is tiny anyway, it's just too cramped to make fortifying anything or super fobs worth it. You get more cash chasing the the zone around and mowing infantry down.
>It's a game that wants the individual player to make loads of money, but some roles don't really make much and their expenses add up a lot.
I agree, support and recon are kinda half baked. Supports one job is to kill enemy APCs and maybe snag vehicle kills if they can. Recon is spotting and that's it. Assault and Medic is optimal because of the run and gunning. Idk you're probably better getting a friend to refuel and resupply your choppers.

>>2809485
>BF6 just launched the new season a few weeks ago
Oh wow, I am sure that game that can barely make 50% positive reviews that's ridden with microtransactions is good now
>squad
It got china'd. Worse than Reforger for technical issues plus it's just been getting worse with every update.

>Don't bother with ammo or supplies unless someone requests it, the logi system isn't implemented properly yet from what I can see
>The big zone is tiny anyway, it's just too cramped to make fortifying anything or super fobs worth it. You get more cash chasing the the zone around and mowing infantry down
yeah see, that's my issue, they really bank on the player always killing but also having a lot of emphasis on running supplies (since players can carry very little ammo and resources) but none of it matters because death isn't punishing in the slightest except having to wait for a truck or chopper to bring you to the front. If a foot soldier is low on cash, they can just loot a teammate or enemy and get a decent loadout. If a pilot or transporter is low on cash, they literally can't do squat for their team.

> Idk you're probably better getting a friend to refuel and resupply your choppers.
landing at your base repairs and refills you. But you have to pay for it. c'mon man what the hell.

> Although at the moment the game is fresh so there's more mic users than usual on EU
They do talk, but only locally

it's a game that just does everything, always, at the same time.

>Oh wow, I am sure that game that can barely make 50% positive reviews that's ridden with microtransactions is good now
anon didn't specify good games specifically and if you want to get your toes wet, I don't see why not. Besides, BF1 and BF4 still have a lot of players.

Hell Let Loose and the new upcoming HLL:Vietnam are still solid choices if anon wants to play big team map games

I played for almost 18 hours

13 to 14 of those were in a heli
and I can confindently say that support/logi roles suck balls due to the per person economy and FOB functionalities

>No veichle limits
You have have 10+ birds in the sky. What that means is that you can have more pilots than actual passangers for a team. And since the most profitable thing a pilot can do is ferry people to the battlefield, you run into the issue of being a goddamn indian bus where you have to park as close as possible to the spawn/shop so people hop into your bird.

>Pilot/Logi trucks get shit profits
When you're not ferrying people, you're probably thinking that you should be running supplies to FOBs or in the field. You'd think this is the main point of the role. But given the personal economy system, you get dogshit profits. The cheapest brid is 6.5k, the supply crate is 500 and if you fill it to the brim with FOB supplies, that's 25x10, so 250 bucks. Let's say you're running completly naked for this run to avoid extra expenses. Now profits are calculated soley on the sale of said items + a player set upmark that can only be set at 75%+ than retail price. So at best (eyeballing math here) each FOB crate will net you back something like 400ish bucks. Ok, you set off to the nearest FOB and make the drop. FOBs are usually super small and near towers so dropping crates dead on is kinda hard, so you have to drop them nearby, but still inside FOB areas. Now resupply crates MUST be interacted with by other players so they can buy your shit and haul it back to the FOB. Which most of the time, it means nobody will venture out to buy your shit. And you just wasted money. And have to waste even more for fuel and repairs

should just be absorbed by the fob immediatley on contact

I shit you not, I did 1 game where I was mostly boots on ground soldier with a pair of binos and I made more money than I ever did flying helis. Spotting is such a hands-free method of making money, it's not even funny
>>
>game launches in a month
>CLOSED beta in 2 weeks

>>
>>2809280
A general rule of thumb is long as you are playing the objective, you are doing something. If you are alone and getting smoked a lot then just get with the crowd. Maybe try to join an organized squad.
Planetside 2 is a free option, but the learning curve is real. I'm getting Hell Let Loose: Vietnam later this week when it comes out.
>>
>>2821463
not that anon but yea I cant get into these games. Its fun as a fresh new game for maybe 30 hours. But they are soooooooooo slow. I'm a good cs player and it seems like games like this if you play too aggro u just die to people in good positions u can barely see. IDK just so slow. It could maybe be fun if your squad actually talked and cooperated, but it seems like no one voice chats in the beta at least.
>>
>>2821444
Apparently by doing early access and paid closed beta, you can refund the game at any time and not the standard 2 hour steam refund. If you play 40 hours next weekend for example, you can refund it after the closed beta is finished. At least the developers says so and I'm sure they'll keep their word. I like to think they've learned their lesson from a decade ago as they openly admitted to it.

>>2821864
Big sandbox tactical games like arma and squad do rely on teamwork and if you got no friends to play with it can be hit or miss. Not much you can achieve by yourself. Like the other anon said, chasing the crowd is always an option and it's better as you'll have other people to revive/revive you which makes dying to enemy you don't see less annoying. Anyone who has played games such as squad or arma with randoms can tell you that a round can be the most fun you've had or it can be pure suffering. It all relies on if your team talk and cooperate or not.
If you are determined to be solo on this game, one option is to be the unsung hero who chases down enemy artillery or try clear out enemy anti air fobs for your team. Both are fairly easy to track down but not many want to do the chasing. These targets may be outside the circle but I hear people who spent a whole round chasing down enemy artillery claim they were making big bank and its something I'll give a shot when those artillery tanks start showing up.
>>
So, not sure if it's been mentioned, but supposedly Sumatra of arma 3 koth development is supposedly part of the dev team for this game, and the game looks like arma 3 koth. If it is, then I'm excited as long as the game isn't predatory from a consumer stance. I encourage you guys to try out arma 3 koth. The personal economy actually works out really well, and the only way to run out of cash is to be really stupid.
>>
Looking forward to the beta on the 21st
Had fun in the alpha but didn't think to check /vm/ for a thread
I made most of my money just doing Ural runs and then lost most of my money ever bothering to kit up and contest the hotzone.
>>
>>2834231
>At least the developers says so and I'm sure they'll keep their word.
Well they don't have their say on that, it's basically illegal to stop you from refunding a pre-order if you want to
>>
>>2834231
My issue is that they did a closed ALPHA test with an NDA and now they're just saying fuck it and doing a (paid) closed beta. A week or so before launch. What are they hoping to fix? Everyone and their mothers knows that "betas" are just the new "demo" and the game is also launching in Early Access for 40 bucks. Why not just make it an open beta? "Buh key avaliability" lol? Not a single open beta has that restriction. They just want to squeeze more cash from it and cancelling a preorder isn't a courtesy, it's a right. If the game actually launched, you'd still be bound to the 2 hour refund period.

>>2834254
>The personal economy actually works out really well, and the only way to run out of cash is to be really stupid
Lies, certain roles take significantly more effort and time to earn pitiful quantities of cash. FOB runs especially since at best you'll break even with sold items and no, you don't get exp if your supplied resources helped a team build a fob. Don't forget, you're paying for YOUR own gas and veichle repairs. Breaking even when flying a heli is only really possible at the start of the game and only if the enemy is too retarded to have IGLAs or AAs, since Flares didn't work during the alpha. Detailed more here >>2818750

I've been seeing a lot of dickriding for this game

for the record, I don't hate this game but the alpha was very rough and rushing from the beta to """release""" only raises more questions. Also curious how nobody aknowledges that these devs pushed out 3 turds that never ever left Early Access and yet they claim to "listen to the community" and have "the community" in their mind.
>>
>>2835295
IMO they're doing the beta because they think this huge player number is gonna go away and they want to get the value from it while its here. They were doing way smaller pre-alpha tests for a while, and even their "scale" pre-alpha tests were way smaller than the interest this closed alpha got. Their dev video says "yeah we know this is going away, we're really just hoping for a few thousand players to keep things active enough that someone can join in at any time", or something to that effect anyway.
We do know that steam can be pissy about small developers generating a billion steam keys though, arc raider's server slam took forever to roll out to everyone because they had to do their keys in batches because of steam iirc whereas on epic you could instantly start downloading.
I don't particularly blame them for trying to cash in on the this temporary popularity, but also alpha testers get into the beta 4free so I'm biased.
>FOB runs especially since at best you'll break even with sold items and no
If you want to be making money as a driver you transport people with the suv, or you use the Ural to deliver pallets. The Ural costs 5k and the pallets are like 400 each. Ural fits 2 pallets and by delivering and unpacking both you already have profit.
People quickly stopped buying building supplies from crates because pallets are 4free, I think the money in crates was selling ammo? Thats what people mostly requested anyway(especially the artillery tanks), I stuck to pallets of building supplies.
>>
>>2835464
>Ural fits 2 pallets and by delivering and unpacking both you already have profit.
Unsure if the supply crates function differently for trucks as they do for airdrops but atleast in airdrop cases, you hardly break even and you're already 6k deep. Your "profits" border on maybe 500 bucks when not accounting fuel and personal loadout costs. That is IF people even bother to get them because they're too lazy to walk 2 seconds outside the FOB

>If you want to be making money as a driver you transport people with the suv
Brother I was a pilot and it was VERY common for there to be upwards of 5 choppers in the air, 2 or 3 of those at HQ, trying to get as close as possible to the shop/spawn so that people hop into their chopper. You had to be in the air and doing stuff for like half an hour before you even break even (especially if the round already started). Go foot soldier and camp on a hill with a bino and maybe take potshots at enemies. I earned more in one life by doing that than by actually being the air taxi (accidents and AA make that also much harder). You don't even need a lot of gear to be combat effective, all you need is just 1 kill and you can loot some soldier's better loadout and be completly fine.

> I think the money in crates was selling ammo?
The thing about that is that since there are like 20 different ammo types, you'll always buy an ammo type that NOBODY needs, therefore you'll always spend a little extra and gain no return on investment on that particular item, even if the upmark is 75%.
>>
>>2835464
also also, I'm both not a fan of buying Early Access for 40 shekels (which means we'll get feature complete in 5 years) but their track record of leaving EA is particularly bad.

HLL Nam flopping inadvertedly helped this game
>>
>>2835701
>>2835706
Ah yeah I'm sure piloting/air stuff was a whole different ballgame, I'd see a few times where the marker for a supply drop was just on the map forever outside of an FOB. I think a lot of the retards building FOBs didn't know at all what they were doing with basic mechanics, let alone that they could interact with pallets.
That said I'm pretty sure I got money just for dropping the pallet off in the FOB zone, so I'd hope pilots would be getting money just for landing the pallet into the FOB zone.

>half an hour before you even break even
>ammo type that NOBODY needs
That blows dicks, but makes sense, I do feel like I saw less and less pilots bothering with delivering things over the weekend. Those who kept at it seemed to just be asking in teamchat "hey what doex XYZ FOB need?" and just dropping off that, or dropping off the artillery tank a crate full of shells wherever they parked themselves.
I didn't see much of it in game but I've gathered from posting in the discord that the big money for pilots was hunting arty tanks.

I also think a lot of player behavior depended on what team you're on. I noticed that red almost never bothered with FOB shit and was always hard rushing into hotzone, green seemed to build the most, and blue would usually try to be building but their spawn location meant they were permaraped.

>but their track record of leaving EA is particularly bad.
desu I'm just less critical of smaller studios having abysmal failures, if anything recent years have taught me is that AAA has the same exact mentally retarded ideas as smaller studios, they're just usually smart enough to never let us see them, until they huff their own farts enough to think their special trash is gonna change the paradigm.
Plus I just had fun with what was already in the alpha, it scratched exactly the itch I needed it to, which was military shooter that isn't CBT levels of annoying to get into like arma and squad were for me.
>>
>>2835782
>so I'd hope pilots would be getting money just for landing the pallet into the FOB zone.
It's not as much as you'd expect and it doesn't guarantee profits if the builders don't go out of their way to buy your shit.

>I didn't see much of it in game but I've gathered from posting in the discord that the big money for pilots was hunting arty tanks.
I don't believe this since getting choppers with missiles took quite a long time. I also always played red because they were the only team who actually won by playing the objective. Besides, I tried telling people to ask for shit but nobody ever did. Hell nobody uses mics but that's what I get for being european in these sort of games.

>I'm just less critical of smaller studios having abysmal failures
They are basically reinventing the wheel at this point by casualising the tacshooter/warsim genre by adding mostly pointless things (tell me why we need tarkov inventory systems and not a class system). Plus, they shat on my plate 3 times, I doubt the next thing they'll serve me is a good game. They're already putting their hands forwards and saying it won't even be a complete game by the time I pay. The rushing of the alpha and this beta screams of "we gotta bank on this NOW before it's too late" because I don't believe for a second that the "beta" won't be the same exact thing as release, I've seen it happen often and this is especially obvious since it launches 2 weeks after the beta. Some games have the decency of waiting 2 months atleast.

>they're just usually smart enough to never let us see them, until they huff their own farts enough to think their special trash is gonna change the paradigm.
and these guys aren't? They made a video on why you "shouldn't" buy their game like some sort of self own that's crated to drive goodwill in the first place.

>>2835900
Yeah if you were playing your regions "GO TO THE HOTZONE NOW NOW NOW' faction then there was never any point playing delivery driver, there probably could have been profits being a sky taxi but like you said the competition is big because of so many people also trying to be sky taxis.

The rest of your post just reads like "I decided the game will be bad already"/"I decided I don't like the devs already" tbqh so I have no input. Sadly I'm not getting paid to shill it, so I wont waste my time Changing Hearts And Minds(tm)

>Yeah if you were playing your regions "GO TO THE HOTZONE NOW NOW NOW' faction then there was never any point playing delivery driver, there probably could have been profits being a sky taxi but like you said the competition is big because of so many people also trying to be sky taxis.
Which is wrong AND stupid since FOBs are supposed to be THE big equalizers that determine win or loss on the battle. Not an afterthought that you don't even need to build to win (in fact, in a lot of matches I played, people didn't build FOBs).

Imagine if RS2/Squad/HLL didn't have SL/Comm roles and no FOBs? Wouldn't really be warsims now would they? Especially when those roles are VITAL to victory or just having a good time in general in those games.

>The rest of your post just reads like "I decided the game will be bad already"/"I decided I don't like the devs already" tbqh so I have no input
you should go back to the discord, if you think that's what that meant. My gripes with the game are the tarkov system, the personal money system and the underbaked Logi systems. Everything else works pretty good, with minor rough edges. I'm sorry i'm not sucking this game's dick and doing tricks on it because I have standards and a game being Early Access with a rushed beta usually spells disaster and/or development limbo.

you should go back to your echo chamber on discord if you're that stubborn.
>>
>>2835967
>Which is wrong AND stupid
I agree, I think they've weighted being in the hotzone too much, building the FOBs was fun when I did it but it never actually felt rewarding, and very easily just became "big target for guy with artillery tank to farm kills off your team". Or became somewhere for two teams to fight over while the third afked in hotzone. Which like fighting over an FOB was fun and all but realizing you're all just wasting your time as the other team afks was pretty gay.

>Imagine if RS2/Squad/HLL didn't have
This is my first mil sim-esque game. My other times trying them I bounced off. That said I do know of the stuff and I did notice that no means of team wide communication sucks, if your team didn't all pile into one big squad you were very prone to just fighting spread out or having your backlines camped.

>tarkov system
I like the inventory system, I don't understand your complaint of "why should this be here?", why shouldn't it? Stealing some guys meds is nice, stealing his way better armor/guns is even nicererer. The complaint of "tell me why we need tarkov inventory systems" reads as "I hate this for nebulous reasons" which is rarely worth engaging with.
>personal money system
I had a fine experience with it, but like I said clearly you got the short end of the stick with however they decided to balance payout for pilots. I made most of my money just doing round trips to FOBs with a ural and I'd made enough to be unlocking the tanks.
>Logi systems
I agree but also its an alpha, rolling into a beta, rolling into EA where they've constantly said "the games not done yet.", you either trust them to actually expand/fix these systems, or you don't. You don't and that's okay, but you can't argue like theres one or two magic fixes they could make that would win you over when you just outright have no interest in pulling the EA slot machine lever.

>discord discord discord
suck me mine penis faggot
>>
>>2836019
> I don't understand your complaint of "why should this be here?", why shouldn't it?
Because it devalues team roles incredibly hard. Remember when Battlefield 2042 had freeform classes where you could just mix and match shit with no downsides or regard for team util and composition to your teammates? And it sucked so bad they backpedaled it? It's like that.

But the tarkov system also just makes everything else a lot more tedious. Gotta reload? Oops, sorry, you didn't top off your spare mag (which you should only carry 2 of them, btw!) so instead of just reloading and getting back into the fight, you gotta pull back, go into your tarkov grid inventory and manually put the bullets into your gun. And remember to actually buy the bullets! And the mags! And be sure not to buy the wrong ammo sub-type!

What does this add, exactly? Just another menu I have to dick around in.

>I had a fine experience with it, but like I said clearly you got the short end of the stick with however they decided to balance payout for pilots. I made most of my money just doing round trips to FOBs with a ural and I'd made enough to be unlocking the tanks.
Because payout is on a PERSONAL basis. Some roles get shit pay and the best payouts with no guarantee on ROI. I could get a 7k transport chopper, but if that gets shot down, i'm out 7k. This also applies to the passanger. He'll buy a tricked out loadout only to die because the chopper had a shit landing. It encourages selfish play. Not team play. Your goal is always to break even. It tipping the scale of the battle ends up being secondary. BECAUSE MONEY CARRIES OVER.

>You don't and that's okay, but you can't argue like theres one or two magic fixes they could make that would win you over when you just outright have no interest in pulling the EA slot machine lever.
FOBs and SL roles are a solved issue. They have been since fucking Red Orchestra. As I said, they are reinventing the wheel for no apparent reason.
>>
>>2836061
>Remember when Battlefield 2042
The last battlefield I played was 3 so no, but I'll take your word for it. I think this is mitigated by the unlocks for things being 'class' xp gated. Like you're not gonna get any of the nicer snipers if you don't spend time spotting/sniping. The team comp is whole other issue but even with strictly locked weapons/classes nothing would stop retarded team comps except limiting how many people of X class there can be, which is annoying whenever I see it in a game.

>which you should only carry 2 of them, btw!
Is this said anywhere? Because when I kitted for combat, or even just looked at peoples combat kits from bodies, people were just filling a bunch of their backpack with mags. Admittedly I sucked too much for running out of ammo to ever be a problem, and mostly used the shotguns which didn't have magazines at all.

>What does this add, exactly?
The ammo/mags could probably be pretty safely abstracted away, But I liked how limited my inventory would be when I was running off with 90% of my backpack being rpg rounds.

>It encourages selfish play. Not team play
I kinda agree, but I feel like the system could be adjusted to give teamplay actions higher rewards, rather than tossing out the system entirely.

>solved issue
I never buy into the "X series does Y so thats the only right way to do it" desu. If no one is trying new solutions to problems then the genre stagnates. I sure hope theres a different functional solution than SLs because a lot of me bouncing off other milsim games was having to roll the dice on "will mister big boy in charge try to jump down my throat for not playing Correctly(tm)?"

2000 characters is a weird limit for such a slow board.
>>
>>2836128
>nothing would stop retarded team comps except limiting how many people of X class there can be, which is annoying whenever I see it in a game.
Unfortunatley, teamwork functions only when enforced. When the economy is private, you tend to look more at your per life balance and use the best avaliable that is also cost effective. Hell, the most cost effective tool at the moment is the monocular that lets you basically earn it's own price by just sitting on a hill and spotting shit.

>Is this said anywhere?
I meant it more as a critique for the backpack system altogether. At the start you can only carry fuck all and carrying more than 2 mags (even with bigger backpacks, in general) is just wasting space for bringing loose ammo and bandages. Nothing more exciting than loading into an half empy mag.

>the system could be adjusted to give teamplay actions higher rewards, rather than tossing out the system entirely.
My solution was always to make the bank a TEAM wide system. Every team starts with 1mil and FOBs and owning towers lets you generate more income, along doing actions like kills and just being in the zone. Money is shared and there's an incentive in doing stuff for your team, since that gives you more chances. Granted, this introduces the problem of a bunch of idiots dying as soon as they spawn, making your team loose cash, but I feel that's slightly better than what's currently on offer.

> If no one is trying new solutions to problems then the genre stagnates.
It's already copying Squad for that matter. FOBs exist in Squad so you can place down HABs that let you spawn forwards and other emplacements. Just like Wardogs. But in Squad, resupplying is a simpler and MUCH MUCH more important role that turns the tide of the game. In Wardogs, the only way to spawn closer to the fight is by using the APC which just makes FOBs.... redundant? For example, this is EXACTLY how Planetside 2 handles FOBs 1/2
>>
>>2836200
2/2 and it's one of the biggest detriments to itself. I would know since I went with a semi mil-sim group once and we were a 20 man FOB in the middle of the map. What did we accomplish? Nothing, we were at best a distraction, at worst potshots for tanks. It took us like 5 dedicated ANTs to mine resources for no real gain. That's whatt I feel when I see logi/FOBs in Wardogs.

Seriously, the best thing they could do is take inspiration from the supply line system from Planetside 1. That'd be cool
>>
>>2836128
>I sure hope theres a different functional solution than SLs because a lot of me bouncing off other milsim games was having to roll the dice on "will mister big boy in charge try to jump down my throat for not playing Correctly(tm)?"

Just say you don't like warsims. It's annoying, sure, but having no SL or commander role at all just means you're essentially playing Battlefield with a different coat of paint.

And ironically, BF HAS Squad Leaders and Commander mode. Actually, I don't remember if newer BFs still have commander mode. Regardless, being SL let you call shit like resupplies and V2 rockets. And it encouraged team play. One of the few things BFV got right, I guess.

every multiplayer game is fomo now, too many new game releases to not fomo them fag. it's how it works. why waste your time in multiplayer game when there are just better experiences coming out next month.
>>
There will be community servers so many of the systems could possibly be tweaked like no kill cam and chase cam for artillery i bet. It'll be interesting to see what customization options they'll give for community servers.
>>
>>2836209
Build a drill to pull the hotzone and have supply of oil running for the drill and your 20 man fob experience in wardogs would win you the game.
>>
>>2840197
winpoints are mostly decided by player presence. Plus you'd have to build a FOB inside the combat zone and that alone means you're already drawing one or both teams to you which will begin to shell you with mortars and spawncamp your APC. In PS2 atleast there can be multiple spawntrucks
>>
>we are indie
>Send a personal invite to every major fps YouTuber under the sun even though they’ll drop this game for cod or bf

Why are we doing this? Their marketing itself even states they don’t wanna be like bf or cod
>>
>>2842013
this game boils down to being battlefield when put under the slightest of scrutiny. Your fault for believing marketing schemes and listening to ecelebs in the first place.
>>
>>2842030
It’s yet another milslop indie game that will be glazed on YouTube and die in a month

The beta is the same day as Modern warfare 4. Indie devs need to stop with this milsim shit especially when you just know this games in game economy system will be broken in a week surely
>>
>>2842013
YouTube normies looove watching and praising milsim games, I think the devs are just weridos for how they market this game especially after their last 3 flops
>>
>>2842056
I pointed in earlier posts that I think the economy system just ruins the game more since you're always thinking more about preventing money losses than actually winning since those two are too loosley tied between eachother. You could loose the match, but as long as your bank account stays in the green, it's all good. The fact it's permanent also means that at a certain point you'll have like a million money and so you just make your class presets and head on out with that. Which eventually just makes the money system just not exist in the first place.

I would have liked a new milsim but this is copying squad without pulling the actually good things squad does.

>>2842063
They're taking every ounce of hype they scrounged up and going balls in. They had playtests for months but always under NDA and lock n key but the second those hit twitter and became the new hot thing, they opened the dams and are trying to ride the wave for as long as they can. Doesn't matter if the game never reaches 1.0, as long as they can milk the Early Access money, it's all good in their eyes.
>>
>>2842087
btw, if they really need to have an economy system, here's the fix to the permanence problem
>every match you start with 50k (maybe 20k for balance to avoid op builds and tank spam)
>you earn more money from PTFOing and helping teammates
>at the end of the match, your earned money is put in an permanent bank that fills up with your earnings (call it the "Swiss Bank Account" or "Offshore Account" or "Retirement Fund" or whatever)
>every X ammount of money will earn you a gold bar automatically (yes, this removes the gay ass gold speculation aspect. It's a good thing)
>rinse and repeat when you join a new match
>>
Squad clone with extra steps that probably started out as an extraction shooter

I like the 3 team aspect but man you know it’ll be cancer when a meta is introduced
>>
>>2842115
I don't get the 3 team thing because it's always you against 2 teams at any given time. At that point why even bother? Give multiple control zones and maybe it starts to make sense but otherwise, it's pretty meh.
>>
>>2842013
I haven't checked but i'll assume they gave one to Jackfrags, Russianbadger and Habie. They're the go-to guys when it comes to paid shilling.
>>
>>2842115
meta is already established unless they change it way up:
spam vehicles
they cost nothing after unlock and outside of needing 20 points to spawn the havocs and tanks and arty you can just throw down 5 separate choppers for your whole team to take and then promptly obliterate every single trace of an enemy.
The towers are largely worthless because you can make portable drills that use fuel to accomplish the same function that is supposed to be the main goal (taking over towers to get the code). Also, if you get a 3 or 4 tower match you can just fucking GUESS the code. What in the mother of fuck is the point of that? Get two numbers and it's literally like a 10 minute guessing game.

I like the playtests when it isn't 15,000 people but the game turned to complete dogshit for that alpha weekend and no doubt again with the beta. Too many discordfaggots not talking ingame to coordinate, too many people trying to lone wolf sniper and not contributing, and ultimately it just ends up being a moneymatch, who has the bigger wallet to consistently shit out havocs to own the sky (and thus the map).
I felt the disgusting rotting sweat of stupid youtubers and twitch streamers, I just know they'll fuck it up, I pray community servers are self-hostable and not only through some shitty portal that will disappear when the devs don't want to support the game anymore like 90% of other "community server" supported games.
>>
4chan loves to hate games
>>
>>2842956
thankfully I didn't see Havoc spam on EU servers but once everyone unlocked tanks, you'd see 4 tanks from the same team roll by and basically lock down the whole map, making even heli hot drops really hard.
>>
>>2842087
>The fact it's permanent also means that at a certain point you'll have like a million money and so you just make your class presets and head on out with that. Which eventually just makes the money system just not exist in the first place.

They will wipe cash every few months. It might work for the better that way. Your levels stay so you can unlock stuff at start of new season but you pay to unlock everything again so it's 250k each season to get your tank for example.
>>
>>2807593
>Planetside
That's one thing I like about Wardogs. Every game does 1 team versus 1 team. It's boring especially on a larger map. I guess Gray Zone Warfare also has the 1v1v1 mechanic. But having 3 different teams, Red versus Green versus Blue introduces some fun chaos and variety to the game.
>>
>>2844581
But you're all fighting for one point. Planetside understood this by having multiple points and have certain factions have territorial control that could be contested from 2 different sides by 2 teams. Here, everyone is my enemy, what's the difference?
>>
>>2844464
tell me this was supposed to be an extraction shooter without telling meit was supposed to be an extraction shooter
>>
>>2835295
I was referring to Arma 3 KOTH personal economy. I haven't played Wardogs, so this was insightful to read.
>>
>>2845247
You get to keep your levels so if you're maxed out pilot before wipe you can unlock havoc as soon as you get the cash in a new wipe unlike an extraction shooter like tarkov where you need to level up from 0 every wipe.
>>
>>2846665
So all you need to do is buffer like 1 or 2 matches of camping and farming money and from then onwards it's the same deal as before only that you can instantly buy the veichles/weapons you used before? What's the point?
>>
I replayed squad a bit recently and yeah this game is gonna be an "Arc Raiders" situation where it's simpler and more casualized so it will attract normies and pull hundreds of thousands of players.
>>
>>2848302
I get the same feeling. I think a shitton of people and streamers will play this weekend and blow up some hype and the game will sell really well before dying down to a couple thousand players in a few months. Every thread on /v/ will be called a shill thread and the steam charts threads will be daily.
>>
>>2848361
I like how the devs preemptively called out the steamcharts fags
>>
I just can't get past the fact that they're asking 40 bucks for a game in Early Access that releases in september. There needs to be a lot of trust necessary for that to work.
>>
I think getting money for everything was either a genius idea that will hook even casuals with dopamine hits or will completely fuck the economy and I'm very much looking to seeing which
>>
>>2848476
you can preorder and refund to join the "closed" beta this weekend or play the open beta next week
more than enough time to see if its worth it without spending anything
>>
>>2848537
it's not some sort of courtesy though, preorders by law need to be refundable before launch. And I already have access anyways. Besides, plenty of games that had "betas" and then 2 weeks later the game comes out and it's the same as the beta with minor touchups. They should just do an open beta or call it a demo. It launches 2 weeks after it anyways.
>>
>>2848548
>it's not some sort of courtesy though, preorders by law need to be refundable before launch
I think anon's point there is that they offered a playable period during pre-order so that you can take advantage of that refund policy. But you're right, I'm not sure why don't just have an open beta.
>>
>>2848525
I think it will hook people because it makes them feel they're contributing to the match when in reality, the only thing that matters in the match itself is getting money and having a positive balance at the end of it. Further devalued by no veichle restrictions, so you can have 6 tanks roll on by the zone and just shut everything down.
>>
>>2848560
the answer is always the same, money and testing the ground for player interest. I immagine that a lot of people will just keep their preorder in the hopes that it evolves into something more. However, I'm not sure I wanna get on a ride that may or may not be ever finished, a few years down the line.
>>
>>2848302
well yeah, squad is for losers who got their feet turned into mush so they wanna keep playing fuck fuck games forever to remember when they were strong
>>
>>2848560

I don't know how honest they are, but they say it's a way to better gauge how to distribute servers per region at launch
>>
>>2848646
That's believable. Basically by filtering out the poors they get a better idea of who's actually playing the game

If I am good at CQB and flying choppers in arma 3 koth servers, how translatable are the skills here? Is this more milsim, or more arcade? Also.... which team is Independents in this game? I don't want to play with NATO or CSAT players, they are cringe as fuck.

it is more arcade than arma, but more milsim than Battlefield. In terms of movement Gunplay is about the same as BF6 in my opinion. Movement is more realistic with no stupid sliding, jumpshotting, superfast sprint etc. But there is tac sprint like COD.

Pure Dadslop btw
Map is fuckhuge but only to justify helos and "transport" gameplay. Actual map is just the Contested Zone with the optional Hot Zone. TTK is extremly low meaning it heavily incentivizes just sniping in bushes. AR/AK have crazy recoil in FA as if its your soldiers first day holding a gun.
Cash system is meaningless since everything is hidden behind a progression system anyway.
>>
had a terrible time on EU servers. played on EST and it was much better, people were actually chatting, calling stuff out, and having fun. though it wasn't much of a game, i spent the entire game chasing hot zone, made like 100k and we won something like 100-20-1.
hit detection still seemed perfect though multiple times i survived being shot at just sprint zigzagging, so maybe my 80ping is a cheat code.

>>
>>2862645
Building FOB on a tower is pure mental retardation, it is a giant icon on the map that says "here we are, come blow our shit smooth off."
Building on the North of the map is meta in both of the maps because if you can build there uncontested you are just in a much better spot.
The problem is if the other team also tries this you risk entering an eternal sunk cost spiral where both teams commit everything to controlling that area while the third team just afks in HZ and wins.
People are gonna get better at building FOBs and learning when to just give up and accept its lost. If your team is in an eternal retard war, its already over, just go have fun.
>>2862663
Supply crates for build supplies are talmudic nonsense no one actually wants to deal with, its only tolerated when people don't have urals unlocked yet. There is some money in it if you put in stuff like RPGs that someone might only realize they want after they're in zone.

It's fun. Right now vehicles and aircraft are running rampant because no one has rocket launchers unlocked yet. Also, the amount of snipers is pretty gay. It doesn't do anything to actually win the match, but it's really annoying. Muzzle flashes need to be a bit more noticeable across the board unless using a suppressor or flash hider.
Foot step sounds also need to be audible from twice the distance.

The tank being a wardog level unlock while AT is all specialist stuff is the problem. It takes far longer to level up a specialty and I do think those two levels need to be tweaked. Yeah it took three days but I finally saw people putting up arty FOBs outside the CZ today and skirmishes being fought over them. I think it will become a lot more normal in the main game.
