would a normal healthy person be unable to function socially if they spent their life isolated since they were a kid? is that in the realm of whats expected? cant even give more than 1 word responses most of the time

It depends on your personal intelligence between 90 - 100 iq you are typically not going to be able to function because you are not capable of drawing your own conclusions and extrapolating things that could happen. If you are intelligent enough and watch enough interactions between people even if you have never done it you can guess what the acceptable thing is to talk about and when it is appropriate to end a conversation.
