Here's to hoping that CIG releases the Kraken before the investors pull the plug.
>>
>>2840625
there's really nothing else like it when it's all working, which is about 1/5th of the time
>>
Obviously 1.0 means that the project is over and they're walking away. Fear 1.0. The game is out and you're playing it and their live service business model is selling ships to "fund the project". If it was actually an alpha it'd be 0.4.10 and not 4.10 about to drop.

It's fine, I don't care. Just play the game for what it is and not what it "will be", because Lord knows they're going to miss on expectations.
>>
>>2840721
>Here's to hoping that CIG releases the Kraken before the investors pull the plug.
Why? If investors pull the plug the servers shut down, the game would be dead at that point. Completely unplayable.

In that sense SC really is a scam. We funded a single-player game with multi-player components, a game that we can fire up whenever, private servers, mods, etc. What we got was a live service game that disappears when the funding/"pledges" stop coming in.
>>
>>2840776
why people think they're going to walk away from the money printer is beyond me. if god forbid they actually ever got in all the features they want and could stop raping the entire codebase every couple months, they'd be able to lay off a ton of staff and just keep a maintenance skeleton crew and a handful of artists for monthly piggy packs and to keep toiling away on new planets and systems in the background.
>>
>>2840801
They wont do it willingly.
The end comes with problems from multiple angles.
1. Sq42 is not as godly game as people would like, eroding trust
2. CR and other leadership start to show up less and less, eventually whistleblowed or found out they are in CIG in name only
3. New (actual) leadership doesnt have any real plan (or experience) how to salvage the project
4. Vision, innovation, showmanship, immersion and creativity start to drain out of the project, also affecting the main monetization method (ships)
5. CIGs junior team and spaghettified obsolete engine and game code ensures that the game starts to degrade to a point where it is literally unplayable and any fixes take years or never show up at all
6. Community facing communication will never show apology, guilt or responsibility - losing any last sense of open development
7. CIG employees will do SOME posts about how players are wrong and entitled
8. The careful balance of economics of CIG (25.5% tax benefit) is upset by: decreased revenue, increased revenue not reacted to in time, changes to the UK tax deduction system
9. The investors (who do not get any dividends) will use their clauses to cash in or cause problems for CIG
10. The first competitor with sufficiently similar features shows up, but from actual game development company

Thats the joke.

But anyway, I estimate ~2 years for EOS or irrelevance.
Seems like most og backers ive talked to think its along those lines too.
Its weird af but the moment that broke the camels back still is Odin sale, even as the main issue for the community is the terrible state of the game with no fixes in sight paired with apathy from CIG
>>
>>2841156
Odin sold well too, and will continue to sell well. But something about its exclusivity and powercreep and timing hit hard.

The first step to delay the eos would be to move squadron 42 yet again.. as long as sq42 is in development, its not revealed what it ends up being - cr is around but not messing pu up..
>>
>>2840801
Obviously they're not going to just walk away from the money, retard. It's more a question of how long the printer will keep working. We know there's never going to be a 1.0

The "shove your head in the sand and say nothing" strat continues to backfire, but it's not like they could come up with anything to say that would quell the outrage. Now thanks to Charlie and subsequent AI articles that sprung up from bigger game journos, Chris will be forced to...send a DM to Jarrod in Microsoft Teams to try and fix it like he infamously did during the flight blade fiasco.

And then there is SQ42, the crux of it all. One man's fruitless pursuit of perfection has dragged this project and company to this point, 10 years since its initial release date, and it looks like another delay announcement is on the horizon. Wanna know the best part? Anyone who backs the project now is given no public facing information from CIG that their money is not going towards the PU they paid for, but rather a singleplayer game they will have to purchase separately for full price!

There is no going back; they either fix their shit and make the greatest attempt to earn player trust again or continue the status quo until Sq42 finally comes out, try to sell off the studio, or, if that fails, make one final rug pull.
>>
>>2842988
I really don't see the big deal. there wasn't any huge disasters in the stream, even on par with crashes that have happened in their live citcon demos. it ran as well as we ever expect it to. people are playing up some mean girls drama between the devs that didn't exist as well.

The server issues thing was proven true when someone figured out a way to run the PU in arena commander and everything worked flawlessly. In previous patches when servers had lower player counts and higher server FPS the game ran almost bug free.

No it did not. This is massive copium.
It was better for sure but majority if the bugs have nothing to do with server fps or servers at all.

>Why?
The best part of receiving a ship you pledged for years ago is soaking in all the details for the first time
Insofar as the Kraken is concerned, its addition to the game doesn't provide any new gameplay. I've been using my Polaris loaner and a vulture/golem to do literally everything I will be able to do with a Kraken.
The best case scenario is that I'll open up the game, take about an hour exploring it, fly it somewhere to dick around in space for a bit, then shelve it until CIG adds something meaningful to experience in the future.
Worst case scenario the game is shut down and all I have left of the Kraken is some concept art on the wiki.
I've been playing the game for thirteen years. I'm kinda ambivalent.
>>
>>2843674
Ive been playing it for almost as long. It as the cheapest game ive bought at the time and is also the cheapest space sim ive bought since. CIG pulled their ass into gear the past few years and people STILL complain that its not enough.

Honestly, i dont think ive seen any other dev that pumps out as much content for the game as CIG on a quarterly basis.
>>
>>2843686
You dont play a lot of games I guess.
>>
>>2843686
>i dont think ive seen any other dev that pumps out as much content for the game as CIG on a quarterly basis.
Do you understand how insane that is to say? Truly
I remember when WoW was getting massive content patches every three months. Every two years they would completely reinvent each class so that they played differently.
>>
>>2843716
NMS is probably one of the top games of the genre, PoE literally defined live games update cycle, Fortnite tries to stay relevant by constant updates... most live games put out more content than sc with the added benefit of not being broken buggy mess.

That anon must be baiting or absolutely delusional.
Only thing CIG consistently puts out is ships and even those havent worked for almost a year now.
>>
>>2843747
>NMS is probably one of the top games of the genre
0/10 bait, that game is somehow buggier than SC 3.18. But you wouldnt know because like most NMS fans, you dont actually play it and got your opinion from reddit memes.

>>2843716
>Do you understand how insane that is to say? Truly
Its hard to believe, but when you look at it CIG pump out a fuckton of content per quarter.

The biggest problem SC faces is that its buggy. But if you look at whats there and compare it to the gold standard of the genre of space sims like Freelancer then CIG are doing an insane job.
>>
>>2843686
Update frequency and content amount of a game like Genshin Impact would break your brain.

Do you consider ships content?
>>
>>2843770
>Gacha games dont count because we both know the content they release is barely content.

For the sake of argument ill agree on the premise. But the problem is; how does that differ from Star Citizen?

Are you saying the content Star Citizen isn't barely content?
>>
>>2843782
>Are you saying the content Star Citizen isn't barely content?
Are you saying the content Star Citizen releases isn't barely content?*
>>
>>2843774
>Because it isn't true.
It is, and its copium if you think they dont release content.

>>2843782
>Are you saying the content Star Citizen isn't barely content?
Thats some mental gymnastics there. Im saying that CIG push out actual meaningful content every quarter. Its better than the gacha "content" of putting in your credit card details to pull a new jpg of your waifu.

Hell, its better than No Mans Sky where their "massive" releases is just a single mech (yes they once did this) and no one even touched the mech after the first hour of playing with it because it was somehow more useless than the military IKTI.

The only space sim dev that beats CIG in content releases is probably X4: Foundations and thats not really content, and more like tools to create content. But Egosoft are just insane veterans of the industry. Sean Murray and David Braben could also learn a thing or too from Egosoft and CIG on releasing good content.

>>

>I suppose you bring a lot of faith that CIG will continue to have funding forever.
I dont, they need to get SQ42 out the door asap. Im EXTREMELY critical of CIG in general. Just because im not a cult-like refundian with a hate boner for CIG doesnt mean im a shill.

>But at least you truly deserve what you get.
I got a pretty decent multiplayer space sim after being burnt with Elite: Dangerous. I got my moneys worth with just 2.0, everything else has been impressive since.
>>
>>2843854
>Just because im not a cult-like refundian with a hate boner for CIG doesnt mean im a shill.
The problem is that you clearly have a chip on your shoulder for NMS and Genshit, you not liking those games (nobody can blame you) doesnt mean that any of what you said is true. You are not being objective.

Its especially funny since gachashit is greedy as fuck - but so is CIG, there is literally no difference between the greed, only the implementation. Grand majority of cig updates of any kind is to sell something.
And yes, its also the way these companies make money.

But lets say you play Star Citizen completely free (gifted access) and Genshin completely free. In which game do you play scripted content through faster, in which game do you play unscripted content faster..

Berating NMS (a game i dont like) for doing an update with just a shitty mech is particularly ironic since Star Citizen has done that too.

CIG has focused maybe like, i dont know, 90% of its content efforts on themepark rides. But you can still count those with fingers of a single hand.

I get that genshit, poe, fortnite etc are shit games in general - or even in many cases simpler games.. but the one thing you really cant fault them on is update cycle. Its quite literally the reason they dominate their genre.

Eg. Duet Night Abyss is a gacha game with actual coop. Based on warframe. But its smaller chink team simply cannot push content fast enough to keep players. It will never beat any MHY game despite being arguably fundamentally better game.
And i guess fortnite is the western primus, does anyone actually think fortnite is the best shooter? I fucking hope not. Does it have the fastest content updates? Yes. Do they want even more content to the point where they build ai tools for players to do content? Yes.

I think cig would do far better by improving sandbox features than the current content push, since sandbox gameplay is forever and you play SoO maybe like 2-3 times max.
>>
>>2843854
>Just because im not a cult-like refundian

Did i strike a nerve?

>Berating NMS (a game i dont like) for doing an update with just a shitty mech is particularly ironic since Star Citizen has done that too.
When CIG did it the mech was a sidenote, not the main feature of a major content update

>Its quite literally the reason they dominate their genre.
For their genre, like how CIG is the champion of the space sim genre

>And i guess fortnite is the western primus
Ive played Fortnite, the content they add is really just random skins and dances. The only major thing they do is a new map every season (which is a very good thing imho).

>I think cig would do far better by improving sandbox features than the current content push, since sandbox gameplay is forever and you play SoO maybe like 2-3 times max.
Finally something we agree on. Theres a lot of content already but the issue is that theyre buggy to the point they dont work, or there isnt much information to make players aware they exist. A lot of new players dont even know ASD or Stormbreaker exist unless players tell them.

Hopefully their new planet mission tech means they can start generating random content with much more ease. I remember CIG mentioning a while ago they want to have randomly generated missions alongside handcrafted ones instead of it all being handcrafted. If it were Warframe such a goal would be simple, but with SC and its numerous gameplay mechanics and factors its a much more complicated task.

I think dedicating 10+ years of your life to hating a videogame company because of esoteric reasons is mental illness. Theyre not "seeing through the bullshit" they ARE the bullshit. Even vtuber fans arent this clinically insane

Star Citizen plods along, outdoing and outliving its competitors. More people are playing the game than ever, CIG is addressing longstanding issues (slowly), and the refundians continue to crash out for the most mundane reasons. I remember one guy crashing out when mining got added because "CIG should be sued that they stole mining from Elite: Dangerous".

And having interacted with the refundians, a lot of them have unironically dedicated their lives to taking down CIG and made hating CIG their entire personality.

If youre this obsessed over hating CIG, go touch grass.
>>
>>2843909
>Did i strike a nerve?
Not in the way you think you did.

>CIG is the champion of the space sim genre
I think we all are hoping this to be true, but not yet. SC would be the king of multiplayer space sim genre but one game does not make a genre. SC is not king of space mmo, nor space sim.

>Ive played Fortnite, the content they add is really just random skins and dances.
I suppose its a fair point. Not the greatest example in that regard, but we can take any live game and have some sort of similar situation. CIG's content is not that amazing.

With one exception.
Hathor was the best fit for the game, give more of that with different profession goods at the end. Trading, Salvaging..
I suppose cig should fix the pvp/pve dilemma before they can really make good content.
Eg. Hathor, CZ, Lazarus are things bobs just ignore.

> A lot of new players dont even know ASD or Stormbreaker exist unless players tell them.
Ive personally escorted pve players to see pyro. Its pretty bad.
And you can see it in spectrum in endless pvp vs pve arguments.

>>
>>2843686
Are you insane? Do you not only not play any other game but actively tune out the rest of the game's industry? Look at any gacha game to blow your stupid ass out. And no, I don't just mean they're adding to stories, I mean adding entirely new game modes with new mechanics. NTE just added an entire fucking roguelike fantasy adventure game inside itself. ZZZ added an entire loot extraction game. New content, new story, new game modes, events, every 6 weeks without fail. Say what you will about gacha being a shitty predatory cash grab, the fucking Chinese have incredible consistency and discipline in deliverying live service content with minimal bugs.
You think CIG is even remotely comparable to that? You're fucking nuts.
>>
>>2843925
>I remember one guy crashing out when mining got added because "CIG should be sued that they stole mining from Elite: Dangerous".
I crash out cause its so shit.

At least on scraping i know they didnt implement powerwashing simulator properly, and the actual powerwashing is and can be fun.

Only game that has had fun mining (and salvaging) minigame was dune awakening. I wouldnt have minded more steps and longer cuts to it.
>>
genshin and star citizen are the same with lack of content. a new character to roll vs a new ship is not content if they do not do anything new, they are just an aesthetic choice to reach the same place. the difference is the character released isn't broken, it has no missing limbs, no missing texture, no missing animations etc.
Meanwhile star citizen release non functioning model of ship, telling you one day we will come back and add that gameplay system we promised that would change all of the gameplay in the game, but we never been able to implement it.

genshin adds a content, a storyline, and new characters that aren't missing limbs. star citizen releases only broken versions of genshin crap with a promise of one day fixing it later.
>>
>>2843932
>I think we all are hoping this to be true, but not yet. SC would be the king of multiplayer space sim genre but one game does not make a genre. SC is not king of space mmo, nor space sim.

I dont know what SC you have been playing but its definitely a space sim and an mmo. Compare it to Elite: Dangerous that tries to all itself a space sim mmo but its instances are soft capped at 30 people unless you use exploits to push it higher (which Frontier patched). No Mans Sky as touted as the "next EVE Online" by gaming journos for some stupid reason and barely has multiplayer. Compare this to Star Citizen where people are having full on fleet battles, logistics fights, etc.

SC has potential to be even bigger. I get CR wants to do more "cinematic" stuff but i think he should just add in like 30-50 random star systems with basic landing zones just to fill in the gaps.

>CIG's content is not that amazing.
The issue with a lot of the raid-esque missions is they feel like testbeds for future content.
ASD and Stormbreaker are crazy fun. I do think CIG needs to put effort into more solo content though.

>Eg. Hathor, CZ, Lazarus are things bobs just ignore.

>its definitely a space sim and an mmo.
Yes, but both of those genres have better games. The combination is unique and why all of us are here. If there was a single competitor, we might not - and even Star Citizen might be forced to do better.

>SC has potential to be even bigger. I get CR..
Yes, SC has potential. But CR is probably not related to that potential at all. Both figuratively and literally.

>Star Citizen where people are having full on fleet battles, logistics fights, etc.
You arent exactly honest with this and i think you know it. This only really happens through arrangement, mock battles if you will. The game doesnt really incentivize or guide towards it. The possibility is there but the game systems work against it rather than towards it.
Lets say you couldnt respawn in pyro without your own medbed, imagine how that would change it.

>The issue with a lot of the raid-esque missions is they feel like testbeds for future content.
I think they are just what they can make with the tools they have. They dont have great tools and considering that, what we get might be quite impressive. CIG should show that if thats the case, give some credit to those who make them.

>A few groups ive played with a few orgs ive flown with briefly have ran those regularly for loot or pvp fights.
Yeah i mean pvp and pvevp orgs do them. But there is a worrying amount of people who dont, either because like you inferred - they are not solo..
..or because the player wants to avoid anything with pvp on it.

Youre being obsessed over hating CIG that when someone shuts you down you have a complete sperg out.

If you hate CIG so much why do you spend every waking moment malding? Go play No Mans Sky if you want a reddit tier space "sim". Oh wait, the actual people who play it hate it ROFL

>The total estimated playthrough time for all main Archon Quests in Genshin Impact is approximately 80 to 98 hours combined
That's just the main quest too, literally nothing else. You'd know that if you actually played the game, or anything beside SC for that matter.
>>
>>2843977
>Yes, but both of those genres have better games. The combination is unique and why all of us are here. If there was a single competitor, we might not - and even Star Citizen might be forced to do better.
It could do better, but its also BETTER than the games that have tried (and failed) to achieve a quarter of what SC tried to do.

>Yes, SC has potential. But CR is probably not related to that potential at all. Both figuratively and literally.
I agree, but we cant fault him for making probably one of the best space sims out right now even if he kneecapped SC numerous times along the way. Im still assmad over him scrapping most of SQ42 to add planet tech stuff.

>I think they are just what they can make with the tools they have. They dont have great tools and considering that, what we get might be quite impressive. CIG should show that if thats the case, give some credit to those who make them.

CR has said ages back if he knew he wouldve got this much funding he wouldve just made his own game engine. CryEngine wouldve worked for their original goals for SC and SQ42 but its clearly not suited for their new vision of the game.

>Yeah i mean pvp and pvevp orgs do them. But there is a worrying amount of people who dont, either because like you inferred - they are not solo..
>..or because the player wants to avoid anything with pvp on it.
Yeah, CIG needs to make more solo content as I said.

>Yes, but it does show trends of sentiment. And at least for the pve only players, ive met them ingame.
Not really, the people who are going to bitch are going to bitch on the forum, and those who enjoy the game wont use spectrum. Ive met plenty of people both ingame and outside the game who love SC but steer clear of spectrum.

>I have yet to meet one of the perpetual victims of pvp though.
You do get some loud people who take entire cargo filled ships to a pyro landing zone then cry they got pirated. But theyre not as bad as the 2.0 days.

how is it more complex, 14 years and no game loop is completed, yet they release half baked new ships. Even the easier fps game loop which they are making an entire other games completed. year ago still not released 10 years later is broken.

Star citizen hawks timed exclusives, meanwhile so does genshin, they both reuse them later one and try to get you buy them cause of fomo.

14 years and a billion dollars and all you got it's more complex, vague statement that just means failure.

Look Siege of Orison, what so complex about that? group players kill enemies and move across platforms. instancing means you don't have the rest of the server on your ass, and while it's dev server playing it should run at peak, no different then stay space fps campaign game that was suppose to be released 10 years ago but never was.

They don't have any loops finished and functional, each big patch it's where's waldo of was is broken and make x unplayable. fix the prison glitch, reintroduce it later.

>>2844039
how tf are yall comparing a chink fetch quest VN to SC
Satisfactory is comparable in a production sense, it had crowdfunding and years of early access but their updates were 6 months apart initially, then a year apart at a time until release.
KCD had crowdfunding and is also based on Cryengine but didn't release until the entire game was done and compromised on scope.
X4 and NMS are kinda comparable but eh, that's been done to death already, also the bethesda space game.
>>
>>2844526
That chink fetch quest is better than SC content.
And even if you disagree - which is fair since that was hyperbole - there is so much of that content (which the players obviously like) that it just trumps CIG's pathetic content pipeline.

There is no universe where CIG delivers more content than other companies, its a whole big problem in game industry right now in general.

But the joke is, like the original poster and the original replier agreed here: >>2843909

The content focus is wrong - you dont NEED to do the most content if you are smart, you just need to enable players to do the content themselves in a sandbox environment.

CIG lost sight of that, as Jared said they are very happy about their concurrent player stats, which spike up during events with permanent rewards and theme park rides.
Problem is, as anyone who have worked in Live games would say - they only see the peaks and not the valleys.
If they put the effort to enabling players to create content for themselves instead, there would be a steady growth in concurrent players which is exactly what their shitty code could maybe withstand better anyway.

Lmao, Chris doesn't give a fuck anymore. He hasn't said anything because he has nothing to say, and Jarrod, who would've been the scapegoat for that, is on holiday getting married, ironically right after using Oli as the scapegoat in the last second of that stream.

The "year of stability," if we are being honest, was a trial run to see how much they could push their greediness, which was more than successful than any "potential bug fix." The false premise set by having monthly patches be a commitment to "stability" was an excuse to throw 1-2 ships in (with fuck all testing), and all it took was a couple uncooked features in 2026 to topple this whole house of cards for months on end now. You can see that they are still more than happy to run limited Idris sales in the midst of all this, while dangling the keys of the Stingray on the PTU for testing (something they used to do pre-2025) to try to calm concern and keep up the status quo. Dickrider-CIG has his work cut out for him, that's for sure; everyone's getting banned off of Spectrum who dares even mention MoistCritikal's existence.

They can't fix this project anymore because everyone who knew how things were built is gone, and they can't hide behind the server instability excuse for their spaghettified mess. When Sq404 gets shitcanned, it'll follow with Chris's retirement, and that's that.

Memories time.
A few years ago I remember when you could do solo missions with pretty much any ship. I loaded up the RSI starter ship the centurion whichever build with 4 s1s on gimbals, repeaters, and took down ships much larger than I was supposed to.
I did the same thing with the Anvil Hawk which is still probably my favorite ship. It's a shame the S1/S2 arent all that great anymore with ship armor.
I messed around with cannons and those were nice. I always thought the kinetic ones were better for pvp.
I had an eclipse and I did everything to reduce the signature it put out. I'd take off the shields and other unnecessary components and fly it fully vulnerable, find an enemy ship, lock on, and set off a torpedo.
I had some fun with pad rammers at the OG starter area. There was this guy named PadRamanowaki I think he got banned but anyway he knocked one of my ships off so I went inside and spawned a snub the P52 cruise missile and just kamikazed like 15 of them into his hammerhead and he blew up with me. They didn't have any insurance claim delay so I could just spawn one and then the other and just run them into his ship.
>>
I always wanted to write fan fiction for this game because the official script is cheesy as fuck.
There's enough space in this IP for some anarchist commune farm development and mining plot out on some planet in the middle of the camouflaged wilderness where we can mine some exotic materials and trade them at a neutral outpost outside of UEE jurisdiction.
Maybe a bandits nest deep in vanduul space. A hidden port along the face of a weathered rock mountain where a ship can take off and land without drawing attention. Deep in the rock is an abandoned habitat the previous inhabitants left in shambles. The vanduul do their business and often their ships find themselves in a scrap heap picked clean.

It's basically building the foundation for a persistent universe level sandbox on a level that's never been achieved before.
They are figuring out things they hadn't considered they would need before the kickstarter and now this whole ordeal is taking a really long time.

Hi, thread tourist here.
I've been a supporter of this project since idk like 2017, and I've been vaguely following development, not really testing because my current PC isn't going to handle this game all that well.
Anyways, i'm interested in systems.
Do they have plans for fleet based formations on autopilot with the flagship controlling relative positions in space and for the purposes of quantum travel?
How about mixed unit tactics/comms interlinks between a flagship and subordinates? Say I designate a Polaris as the flagship and it moves in formation with a Hammerhead with a queue of 2-3 Terrapins which will use the Polaris's hangar for refuel+repair+rearming. I want to be able to have a full officer bridge with a manned communications and radar officer. I want to be able to use the holo globe for BVR target acquisition and the Polaris's massive radars to ping everything for half a million kilometers.
If I have some kind of armed overwatch operation going in orbit over a planet and idk i want to keep pirates and vanduul raiders from pillaging my drug labs idk. I lost my train of thought. Are they just making this up as they go?

Since when was this about being a scam or not? Direct reply chain back to the top post that wasn't a reply never brought up scam accusations. The entire argument was whether criticism itself was valid.
And it is. Regardless of how early it started. The longer the project goes on, the more obvious it is that mismanagement is going to keep the project from living up to it's promise. Is it a scam? No, that would imply an intentional failure of the company in an effort to cash out and dip. It's not a scam by that sense. It is however a rather telling lesson in how software design and engineering, or a failure of such, leads to shitty software that's impossible to update or maintain.
But sure, tell me again in 10 years how perfect and infallible CIG is when they're fixing the same bugs that keep regressing since the first day Port Olisar went live.
If we don't see SQ42 release this year, we won't see it for another two years, and we won't see them put real effort into SC for another 5.
>>
>>2863399
Everyone knows its a scam so no point in talking about that.
Regardless of what you originally pledged for, your current money you spend on Star Citizen are going to SQ42 that you might not even own.
Subscriptions are said to provide video content, well not anymore.
Etc.

It probably always was a bit of a scam on what CR actually wanted to do, but now its crystalized in his dream of SQ42. Hopefully out soon and CR on retirement so we can see what this game actually becomes.
>>
>>2861592
sure but why wouldn't this functionality exist? Like a group autopilot you can manual away from?
If you consider all capabilities in development, there will probably be vanduul swarm missions and you'll need to organize 18-45 people in 6-8 ships to deal with them. Say you have a kraken just by itself, but loaded to the tits with fighters on pads, you can jump just like that. If you have a polaris, two redeemers, and a motley crew of vanguards to cutty bees and the mission starts with a jump to location, why wouldnt a flagship be able to organize a group jump or a semi auto movement in formation?

and so on and so forth, until all of the size 1 ships are effectively useless point a to point b ships and you have to hot bunk with a sweaty whale to get any action at all

You can do synchronized quantum jumps but it's still pretty hands on. Everyone does like like they're jumping normally, just that when everyone is ready, only one person has to trigger it and everyone is supposed to go together.
When it works, which is almost never.
But the rest of what you said sounds like a totally different kind of game. This isn't going to be a strategy game.

fleet-level interlink, sharing/designating targets, BVR target acquitition,. Maybe a mission where you're set to do armed overwatch/planetary screening for a big contract and expecting pirates or similar. You have beacons set up with terrapins out into the black and a few gunships ready to jump to your terrapins so your fleet can make sure no pirates can get by. How do you automate missions like this so they aren't automatic but still scripted enough to be fun?

You don't. This isn't that kind of game. You want to organize shared targets? Get on voice chat and figure out a chain of command/communication method. You want fleet level coordination, figure out how they've been doing it in real life outside video games and copy them.
This is a game full of people who want to manually fucking put bullets in magazines, and developers who can't even make inventory work right. Where the fuck are you getting these head in the cloud ideas from about what SC is going to be?

Thats both hyperbole and inaccurate. Games like arma or tarkov are like that. Star citizen doesnt know how to even do autism right. You cant really do much of anything in the game, least of all things related to ships.
