What controller do I get for this game?
>>2856220>official GCN controllerMaybe it's muscle memory, but no other controller feels as good for platform fighters; however, you're down a button until we're allowed to rebind the D-pad. In practice, this means that you're forced to choose between binding parry to one button or binding walk modifier. It isn't necessary to bind both, but it is convenient.>gamepad8BitDo's controllers or the Switch 2 pro controller are valid options. The only reason I don't use my 8BitDo is because of muscle memory, but I've played with it and it'd be fine if not for that. The only negative is that the GCN controiller's face button layout is slightly more ergonomic for platform fighters.
Honestly, it's not Rival's fault; games in general are dying. This new generation of gamers do not like playing games outside of some streamer FOTM, or the same games they have been playing for years on end. Marketing and trending are the most important factors in this decade. If people are not talking about it, the game might as well not exist
>>2856913You're right to an extent, but it is also the developers' fault. You'd think that with Dan's experience developing RoA1, he'd have realized that 2 will take time. It took RoA1 years to go from a kusoge to a genuinely good game - without the overhead of Aether Studios. I don't think that he was wrong to hire more employees post-launch, but here's what I would've done in his position:>don't waste resources on casual modes or story mode, or have casual modes coincide with console release>don't consider La Reina a "returning character">announce and develop guest characters earlier (replacing Slade)>fucking Sylvanos (replacing Gouie)>more skins that people actually want to purchaseTo elaborate, the emphasis should be on lore-relevant skins (the Aether Legends and Lovers Homecoming skins, for example) and actually cool skins like the mecha skins. Holiday skins are a waste of time and money.>tighten the belt and crawl our way to console releaseConsole release should be the #2 priority for the game behind continued development of characters.
Elliana is next
>>2858599I'll buy $60 in skin packs if you're right but if you're wrong I'll be visiting your houseI just want Dan to get his character priorities straight, I'm still so pissed that we're getting guest characters before all the veterans at the same time he's halving the character release schedule
>>2858605The less frequent character releases suck, but I have faith in Remix Rivals. I was a Falco main in Melee (predating netplay Falco) and didn't like Fox at all, so I understand how changing a few move properties can completely change a character.
>>2858612They could lead to interesting and fun characters to fight, but the characters I see most likely getting clones are Zetterburn (Renburn) and either Forsburn and/or Clairen (Claiyen could take aspects of both), and I hate fighting all three of those characters (Forsburn less than the others, he's annoying but not necessarily OP). If the "consolation prize" for getting fewer rivals is Clairen 2 I will not be happy
Do heavies have any glaring weakness because it sure doesn't feel like they lack in any attributes when compared to the normal and light weight characters.
>>2862925They're supposed to have worse recoveries but the average recovery in this game is so good that you have to be REALLY good at edgeguarding to exploit it
Can this game pls get ported to ps5 already
>>2856774I use a GCN one already but it feels like there's so much snapback, I can't for the life of me figure out a good sensitivity for it ingame.
>>2863172>dan took too long and now we'll never get a physical roa2 releasehaha... an empty ps5 box and a switch 2 keycard...
>>2862925Depends on the character>KraggRecovery, easy to combo, and his best burst options are unsafe on shield. Don't let him mindlessly FH dtilt.>EtalusRecovery, easy to combo, and dash attack is susceptible to floorhug. Always parry icicles.>LoxodontLike Clairen, you have to force him to make mistakes in neutral; so, sadly, camping him is the correct choice. In disadvantage, he's easy to juggle because of his slow air speed and low gravity. Learn to do the Loxodont killer (shield the first hit of up special, and then wavedash OoS to ledge).>GalvanRecovery, easy to combo.>La ReinaHer neutral is bad.Being combo food is a big weakness, especially in a game where it's relatively easy to combo any character.
