>>2941564the word of the day it’s: ‘Grim’
The OP put more effort into the webm than blizzdrones did into last two seasons.
>>2941477I do play poe. I also play Diablo. Poe is good yes but there needs to be a healthy competition. I wanted to like Diablo 4, I truly did but Blizzard can't stop self sabotaging. They need to fire that jaded fuck joe Shelly. He is responsible for Diablo 4. We can't trust him to make Diablo 5. If you rewatch the presentation you can tell he doesn't have an ounce of passion for this game.
why bother? lol
I have a level 54 Sorceror on Eternal built for Incinerate shit from like 6 seasons ago (I have equipment giving me free fire hydra and other stuff) but it reset my skill tree and also I still haven't done the enchantment quest, I was supposed to put Fireball on something. Like enchant it with Fireball so Fireball shoots out of corpses automatically, or something! I don't have Lord of Hatred. I need to farm like 500 more Eye of the Overwatch.
>>2941564Nice OP. On topic, we're all a bunch of cucks for playing D4. Hope we all enjoy our nostalgiagoggle Prime Evils in a few days.
>>2941930>Hope we all enjoy our nostalgiagoggle Prime Evils in a few days.Having Diablo in Diablo is neat, great the devs thought of that. So for better or worse I will try to enjoy it. However they really dropped the ball with D5 announcement and spilling the beans about the plot. Outside of completing season(s) story wise it doesn't really matter what they do in D4 because we know how it largely ends. Then again how despondent the mood has to be over at d4 dev team that blizz went and cleared D5 before fixing D4. Not to mention the rainbow technicolor behind next diablo with Shelly at the helm doesn't really inspire my trust. I agree with >>2941714. They should get someone who wants to make the game. The same with that whale anti-gamer wahman who's the narrative director. You're telling me they couldn't find anyone more qualified with hear and eagerness to write the story?>we're all a bunch of cucks for playing D4Hear hear. Nostalgia and emotional attachment are a bitch.
The excitement is palpable.
>>2941669For me, it's betrayal. Why abandon D4 after just a few years? It's insulting to the fans and just bad for the franchise.
>>2942112tbf d4 is not redeemable. the idea of an open world sounded interesting and grand on paper but felt flat in reality. most of the things you do happen in small linear 90-120 second dungeons. no one uses the big manually crafted world as it was designed.
>>2942112>Why abandon D4 after just a few years?nta but my guess is the situation so fubar now that only a new game can fix the issues (unlikely but there it is) or it was always their plan to do a rugpull. not good optics either way
D5 exists to fix Fat Druid.
>>2942118That could all be fixed imo, or at least just continue to ignore the overworld and focus it all into dungeons. The story wasn't done, Diablo never showed up, all that time and cosmetics that won't transfer, and they never even completed the game in terms of settling on the talent tree and paragon. >>2942123I don't think it's even a core problem with the game because D5 is going to use the same engine and it looks just like D4 with the exception of the doll, which is awful. It's the same team making D5 even, and the core problem with D4 was that they didn't know what kind of game they wanted to make. Slower paced dungeon crawler vs zipping around wiping entire screens.
>they recreate the theme levels of D1Okay, not bad.
Rod had suggested D4 had a ten years plan for support and I recall them saying that possibly even all of Sanctuary could be in the game eventually. This is just a rugpull, and it doesn't even make sense to announce it now when it's still so far away. Who is going to keep buying shit in their live service game that is basically EOS while the next installment is three years away? Total unforced error.
>>2942140no one cares about the story desu especially not the people who are making them money (whales and mtx piggies). read a big if you want a good story, video games are the wrong medium for that. I say that as someone as a person with probably over 10000+ hours in d2/d3 and d4 combined and skipped every single dialog since d2. I havent even bothered watching the cinematics in d4.
>>2942154It really is, there's no other way to put it. I won't argue that D4 is Blizzard's cash cow, but it's not sustainable with the open world gimmick that no one uses like >>2942118 said. Honestly, I rather get fucked in the face now than have another five years of "season of the X factor" that this season shows to be no different. The one thing this season has going is they showed legit effort in recreating D1/2 into D4 for the season.
3 years and the whole skill tree got a single change which made it worse. 3 years. three
>Warplans are acct wide nowHoly shit FINALLY
>ASPECT OF DEATHNANI?!?!?!?!?!?!
>>2942168I say that to give an example of how the game is incomplete. You may not care but a lot of people do. I've enjoyed Diablo lore since I was a kid too young to have been looking at it. I don't need it in my face at every turn like D3 but the presentation of the others was good. >>2942170I'm just so blasted about it I may not even play D4 anymore desu. Maybe I'll have a change of heart but it's just total betrayal, and I can't imagine the seasons after this will be anything other than life support and rehashed prior seasons. I'd bet Diablo is their second biggest franchise, a distant second to Warcraft, but still deserves respect and this is just disrespectful for the fans and also a terrible business strategy on top of it.
>we're going to face the aspect of deathSo who succeeded Malthy in the end?
>>2941908actually I checked and I do have enchantments unlocked, alright alright alrightI have 40~ hours to farm 500 "Eyes of the OW" cause I have FOMO about the Kitsune thing even though I realized while playing I barely ever even remember my little dog dude exists.what's the best way to do this?lvl 55 sorc, Eternal, no-Lord of Hatred? Just run from Helltide to Helltide? I barely even remember this game's mechanics this was the only time I ever got this high level on a character and I never played the campaign. I'm playing on Hard.
>amazon is gender locked>amazon is femaleAh so the rumors about blizz turning the tide on trannies etc were true all along. I wonder how troons will chimp out over that. On that note why wasn't Barbarian or paladin gender locked? They were never meant to have female representation as a class, the latter wasn't for sure>>2942168I for one enjoy the story immensely. Say what you want my man but it's what drives this franchise. Just because retards are hired as writers who shit on source material - og games, books, doesn't make it obsolete. On the contrary.
>>2942207I wanted Sonya, leave my big fat titty wife out of this.
>>2942207Barb and paladin (at least crusader) had precedent for females.
>>2942213>big fat titty wifebut famalam your druid wife is gonna get jealous
>>2942222Scrilege.
>>2942222Maybe it's for the best they're killing D4
>>2942220Crusaders sure, but paladins are a different tale. With barbs I could see it being a thing, after all we had that option in D3 as well so it's nothing new. Story wise I could argue that's counterintuitive to the establish lore (and devs just vindicated me because they used that argument for d4 amazon) but I can let that slide. And kinda related but it's funny how Immortal of all iterations got a decent amount of face models for classes and druid doesn't look like oversized karen you pass by in an aisle doing groceries.
>>2942271>face models I meant models, not just face morphs.
>>2942271I just assumed that there must have been female paladin at some point because of how crusaders take the names of their masters.
>>2942271where is this from? immortal?
>>2942118they needed to go all-in on it and make lost ark with a diablo skin. it doesn't help that they also caved immediately and added fast travel to dungeons within, what was it, the first week of launch? so that open world they developed became meaningless immediately. and nobody gives a shit about the pvp helltides or whatever they were. anything that was open world was immediately made irrelevant by their own decisions.I haven't played this game since first month of launch so idk all the changes.
>>2942287Well, there was Fara (D2 blacksmith) iirc who was a paladin trainee or smth and abandoned the church. But it's been so long ago that I could be misremembering thing. Still, 99.999% paladins were dudes. Nothing bad about it just like amazons being all female.
Amazon is female only because having a male called Amazon is retarded, so they're just making a cope excuse after the fact.
>>2942302I liked the overworld, not sure why everyone's shitting on if all of a sudden. They didn't give anyone a reason to PvP so that's on them, but world bosses were fun and helltides and whispers were at least on the right track. These games need something like that to break up the monotony of just spamming dungeons or whatever and the open world made it feel more alive.
>>2942304Yeah, I'm glad and actually surprised they aren't allowing male amazon, it's distinct from the other classes which can have some of the other gender.
>>2942321wait a minute... there is no male amazon version? thats kinda sexist
>>2942328>>2942335A little trivia for you:There ARE male "amazons". There are Death Ravens that existed during Reign of Enmity and these groups were leading these groups and/or were part of them. There are also mystics who could be considered an equivalent of sorts to amazons, though they wouldn't be melee combatants more so casters.
>>2942360Obviously there are males within their society, I mean from a class perspective running around with a javelin or bow and that's been all females.
>>2942381You're twisting my post a bit. I mean sure there are males among the askari but simply in class design context you could make a male counterpart if you really wanted (and knew 'da lore'). It's obvious that's budget constraints, deadlines, skeleton crew or combination of the three that lend themselves to such choice of classes. Again, I'm not gonna lose sleep over gender locked amazon. It's fine.
>>2942398The game is done at this point, who would even pay for amazon anyway
>>2942322if they stuck with the original plan of needing to manually move between dungeons it would've helped the open world a lot.
>>2942449Agreed, the team caved on a lot of important things they shouldn't have just from listening to the vocal minority.
>>2942472idk it doesn't surprise me all the people left at blizzard are incompetent they don't have the talent like they did in the 90s/00s, they used to know how to stick to their guns and listen to feedback to get the real message out of the feedback. if somebody complains that the fireball is OP nerf now! you don't just remove the damage/aoe from fireball, you can take an indirect approach like adding more fire resist.literally every single game they have is improperly managed. removing immunities in d2r? overwatch balancing? d4 balancing? wow balancing? forced gameplay through achievements? dark souls has achievements too, but they're about collections, get all the weapons/spells, kill all the bosses, not about "teehee you need to kill the boss with the feather tickler maid wand equipped and only using your fireball!"and the company is way too large with too many layers of management, and they're captured by White California ideology...
>>2942518I don't think they'll make another great game again, at least until they free themselves of Microsoft and suicidal commiefornia ideology, but they started off listening to the fans. I was frequently contacted about the game and gave them the idea that would eventually become the codex of power, but then it went silent a little over a year ago and I'm guessing this is when they decided to scrap D4. I assumed they were looking to streamers which is why they made it closer to D3.
>>2942551>but they started off listening to the fansthats nowadays not a good thing. the listen to a very loud minority. its either retards on reddit or their official forum. at this point it would be better to just stick to your initial idea and completely ignore fans. I saw what that led to in d3 and d4. thats all assuming they have a masterplan and and an overall idea what they want to do with their game (which they dont)
>>2942604Exactly, they have no idea what they want for diablo. They try to please everyone and end up making nobody happy. They need to split the players up between several IPs, the ones who want D3.5 and the ones who want a dungeon crawler.
>>2941564So what we do know about D5? >Set 100 years after Diablo IV (nice to know how 4 ends btw)>The Sanctuary has succumbed to Diablo and everything is in ruins>“A new Diablo for all kinds of players” kek>“More classes than any Diablo” - confirmed classes so far: Demon Hunter, Monk, Plague Knight>Procedural generation in dungeons and in the world>All the towns have been destroyed. You travel with your caravan of NPCs, artisans, and merchants who will be your "mobile town" similar to D3>Item system inspired by D2>"Create clearly designed items that are memorable and worth trying to obtain for hundreds of hours">Tetris inventory from D2 and D3 is back>Actual set items return>Requirements to equip certain items possibly returns>Complex crafting system>Runes and runic words like in D2>It seems like this time Diablo will actually show up in Diablo
>>2942644d3 didn't have tetris, it's like d4 without tabs.d1/2 have tetris.items are tiered like they were in d2, instead of having them linearly scale at every level. d2 was also more creative, giving the normal/exceptional/elite qualities different names [kite shield / dragon shield / monarch] but they're still in alpha so you can cope that they will change it later instead of marking them as tier 1-6.if they stick to items having stat requirements then you can probably assume you get to assign stat points again.stats on items don't look interesting though. I wish people would adopt the breakpoints style of equipment from d2 and early wow. that's what leads to interesting item choices when you start minmaxing. instead of just stacking attack speed on every single item because it linearly scales infinitely, you can reach a breakpoint only getting it on half your gear so you can decide which pieces you will go with attack speed and which pieces you will go for other stats.
>>2942689>d1/2 have tetris.Yeah I guess d3 had candy crush. Yet it was miles better than D4, which speaks volumes.
>>2942644Also:>Diablo is now a morally grey character:https://youtu.be/blmyIDbxN2o?t=616Wtf are they smoking. D5 is going to run this franchise into the ground if these karens are left to their own devices.
>>2942873bro it died in d3 when they killed cain with fucking butterflies.
guys what the fuck does a gearless Sorc skill into and spec for to farm elites? chain lightning? or a fire build?
>>2942873>blizzard has created some incredible characters>Sylvanas>Lilithclown world
>>2942873It's the commiefornia world view. That good and evil are relative or a matter of perspective. I think it's why it took them years to add the paladin, and D5 will not have one, it's going to be this plague knight. They started to do it will D4, but I'm sure 5 will fully embrace the player character becoming demonic themselves to defeat Diablo.
>>2942881D3 at least had the decency to draw the line between good & evil and the game ended on a high note. For me D4-D5 are the Twilight Zone of Diablo world. Fuck off with that revisionism devs.
>>2942873Is that not Hamburger Hepler, 15 years later, *right there* in blue??
>>2942873I want off this ride mr. skeletal...
>>2942873Is this thread all ESL?>Unlike Lilith or Sylvanas who are morally grey, Diablo is not, he is not redeemable or misunderstood. She's saying Diablo is definitive as the Lord of Terror. If you think that suggest moral grey aspect is forcing yourself to get mad over the wrong things.
I really tried but this game is too fucking boring, I wanted to bang out the overwatch shit last minute but jesus christit can hold my attention for like 8~ hours but I'm so fuckign done at this pointwhat a waste of fucking time
>>2943467nta and you're right, but keep in mind how they handled Lilith and all the wank that ensued up until VoH expac. Simply because they say he's not redeemable etc. doesn't automatically mean it's the way he'll be presented. So it's more so what these "people" are capable of messing up rather than what they say. Until we see the story nothing's set in stone. Everything is possible with these fellas.
