InfiniteLeaftide is a private server found via the ThwargLauncher utility, as virtually all private servers for Asheron's Call require said launcher.
Every completed quest on InfiniteLeaftide grants small flecks of permanent +EXP% across your account, incentivizing exploration over raw grind (at least at first).

>Allegiance
We have an Allegiance active. To join ask for an invite in the thread to meet up with a member in-game.

>Starting City
Shoushi is recommended for newfags, but it's not required. All starting cities can be easily reached via the server's Town Network, so go for whichever one sounds most interesting to (You).

>MMOdventure thread
>>2918273
>>
Quick starter FAQ:
>How do I get to the server after installing the game?
Launch ThwargLauncher -> open the Browse Servers window (if it's not open already) -> find InfiniteLeaftide -> click "Add server" -> click InfiniteLeaftide on the main ThwargLauncher window -> type whatever Username/Password you want to use -> click Launch
You only have to go through the whole process once, fortunately.

>Don't I have to make an account somewhere first?
Server accounts are made via ThwargLauncher, so just pretending you already have an account will make that account for you.

>The game launches in fullscreen 640x480, and I can't see shit
Alt+Enter upon starting up, and it'll change the client to be windowed. The game's resolution can be changed in the options thereafter.

>I'm stuck on some weird "Connecting to Server" screen when launching the game
Close the client and relaunch it. Sometimes that just happens, should be fine after a restart.

Check it out, stumbled across a fully-functional chessboard just outside of Holtberg!
You'd think something like this would be guarded in town, but nope, it's placed right in the center of the woods leading to that specific village. How lovely.

Double-clicking on it summons what appears to be the enemy's side of the board and opens a special menu keeping tabs on the match in-progress, meaning you'll need two people to partake in a match. No built-in Chessmaster A.I. here - it's a pure PvP experience, as one would expect.
Sadly wasn't able to match wits at the time, as everyone else was rather busy with other matters. Definitely someplace worth revisiting for Saturday's photoshoot all the same. Really have to get a better outfit by then, these random mismatched armor pieces look hideous.

May as well dump some random tidbits I've come across up to this point.
Most of these are pretty painfully new-player stuff (and are likely known to you 'lot by now), but they're still easy to miss with the way this game throws you into the deep end when starting out.

- Your Ust tool opens the Salvage menu, breaking down most equipment gained from defeated enemies.

- Different NPCs accept different things in their sell menu, generally themed around what they themselves offer. You cannot resell anything those NPCs sell back to them, unfortunately.

- Certain magic vendor NPCs sell Warp Crystals to various towns. Stock-up on crystals for the place you're frequenting to lessen your time going back-and-forth from the Town Network.

- /ls to return to your current Lifestone.

- /b for your bank, which only stores currencies. Format for depositing/withdrawing is: "/b [deposit/withdraw] [currency name] [amount]".
For example, "/b w p 1000" would withdraw 1,000 Pyreals from your corporeal bank. Joker modifiers are allowed, so something like "/b d" will deposit all currencies currently in your inventory, et cetera.

- Garbage Barrels are located at the Marketplace, to delete unwanted duplicates of quest items and otherwise unsellable/undroppable things, such as your tutorial gear.

Drop more knowledge (You) come across in the thread. Not very easy to track who's online outside of adding everyone to your personal Friends List, so notable discoveries may go unheard if not mentioned here.

A small snippet to close out the morning with, admiring a random banner in the steppe settlement of Ayan Baqur.

There's such a charm to this title's aesthetics.
Being a game from '99, they're beyond ancient by today's standards, obviously. Even the former oldest of MMOs we've played previously in this project this runs circles around this title's general fidelity. Yet there's something strangely captivating about stepping this far back in time. What once floored audiences the world over in visual splendor, soon sat as positively quaint as the late 90s marched on into the 2000s, much less when viewed through the lens of the modern-day.
It's a unique novelty to witness firsthand, all these years later.

>There's such a charm to this title's aesthetics.
I'm really not seeing it, maybe its due to being stretched out on my monitor but its an ugly little game with a bland boring overworld that feels procgenned even though it isn't and dungeons that are a pain in the ass to navigate.
Granted it could be because the desert starting town is in a desert...

Seems you're not the only one having that issue. Works just fine for me, strangely, with the dungeon map automatically appearing upon stepping foot in one (including the Town Network).
Here's a snippet of my currently-running Decal plugins. Most of what's here is just the default setup, and some of these could be culled (a lot of the Virindi ones, honestly), but maybe replicating something similar to loadout would work for you.

>>2947426
This >>2947435, and also be sure to have the "Decal Injection" box ticked in ThwargLauncher before starting.
If you can't load-in to your character, back out and double check you have your Network Filters and Services boxes all correctly ticked. Some plugins are also dependent on one another, as I believe UtilityBelt needs at least Virindi Tank and its respective Filters/Services loaded to work properly (though don't quote me on that).

There's an undeniable appeal in being let loose into the world, and being told to go wild. Yet that same unbridled freedom could very well come off as directionless and annoying to those wanting more guidance whilst they get their feet wet with this one. And boy is there ever a lot to take in when you're starting out, whew.

This title absolutely can be played as the largely-freeform experience that it is, and there certainly aren't many other MMOs out there which invoke that kind of feeling these days. But if (You) are the type who expects a bit more in the way of actual direction with your MMOs, there's no shame in consulting the server's wiki if you're up for some research:
https://www.leaftidewiki.com/Home
Titles of this vintage were built around players sharing knowledge with one another; first on fansites and fan-ran fourms, and later, wikis. Leaning on resources of this manner for a game this old is just part of the expected experience, really.

For new players in specific, here's a pairing of starter guides to get you sorted:
https://leaftidewiki.com/Starter_Guide
https://leaftidewiki.com/500_by_50
Inconveniently, you'll have to whip-up an account to see 'em (and everything else on this wiki for that matter), but that's nothing a quick throwaway e-mail can't fix. Do suggest making one, as having a knowledge-base to draw from can be invaluable in titles such as these.

Asking the locals are few things in General Chat caught the attention of one of the Admins, who not only cleaned-up the absolutely impenetrable swarm of ultra high-level Mites surrounding Shoushi (thankfully), but also began a little GM Event in honor of actual newbloods trying their beloved title: Hide-and-Seek!
A mysterious friendly NPC was summoned in a random dungeon near Shoushi, and it was our task (along with the rest of the server) to uncover his whereabouts. Started a clockwise sweep of potential locations around the area, eventually leading to the rather bluntly-named "Rat Cave" to the north.
There were rats. LOTS of rats. Even the Rat King himself came in for a bite...! Was kind of unsettling, to be honest.

No hide-and-seek NPC here, but would you be at all surprised to learn that the pack of rats was hording the town's supply of cheese wheels and leftover meat in the back of their cave? No, of course you wouldn't.

Next stop was the Shreth Hive on the hunt for this mystery NPC. Also had to nab four barely-visible Stones around this labyrinth as well - no sense passing up another +2% EXP from the Quest Bonuses.
Still no luck with the hide-and-seek guy, but to anyone who comes here for the "500 by 50" route: There's a stone on each "tier" of the complex. One on the highest rafters, one in the "drainage" room with all the grates, one on a ledge in the main cathedral-type area, and one in the pile of chests at the end.

Success. Got tipped-off by a kindly local to check the Mossy Cave near Shoushi, and indeed, there he was. Looking rather worse for wear, but evidently it was just a spirit anyway.
Granted an Enlightenment Token for our troubles. Apparently after 20(?) coins, they start dealing in Event Tokens, which can be traded somewhere else for major rewards.
Always love seeing GMs and Admins actually interacting with their playerbase in-game, running pop-up events and keeping things lively. It's something you don't often see in general, even on the private server circuit.

This round's hide-and-seek NPC will still be at the Mossy Cave near Shoushi for about ~8 more hours, so if you haven't found him yet, go tag the guy to get a free Enlightenment Token. Who knows if we'll actually use them in time during our two-week stay here, but we may as well stock-up while we can.

I got fed up with how the aggro works or doesn't in dungeons. Tried playing without the buffs but at that power level I couldn't deal with the mob stacks I'd sometimes pull through walls and floors.

>Is that a helmet with a axe stuck in it?
Yeah, a fitting reward for a fitting quest.
>Tried playing without the buffs but at that power level I couldn't deal with the mob stacks I'd sometimes pull through walls and floors.
I'm gonna be honest, the buffs are blatantly overpowered but the entire game is basically balanced around having at minimum a lower version of them.
You can get away with not having any up to around 40~ if you allocate your points intelligently with some foresight, carry enough bandages and make sure you don't get mobbed too hard, but after that point you're basically forced to at minimum find natural armor+blunt/piercing buffed armor or life + item/creature enchants from either self buffing/a buddy.

Even going further than that, the mobs around 80+ are designed with you having an onslaught of medium to high tier of buffs of all types in mind, otherwise you're going to get skewered by a random lighting bolt cast.

Very much get the same sort of vibe with this one.
The game is excruciatingly a product of its time in so many ways. Yet there's an ambition on clear display here which I just can't help but admire all the same, as someone who's hopped around MMOs for the better part of 25+ years now.
It's super interesting to see what these devs were attempting to bring into form, during a time where the very concept of a 3D MMO was entirely uncharted territory. There's stuff here which even entries in the genre several decades later wouldn't dare attempt. Real-time missile/projectile tracking, CRPG-style stat/skill progression, an overworld truly as massive in scale as advertised rather than merely implied to be huge, actual platforming in an MMO from 1999 (remedial though it may be)...

Would suspect a good amount of the upfront majesty of this title would be worn away once you've become more familiar with it, granted. Yet as a wide-eyed newblood to AC in general, I'm getting a real kick out of how much of a fascinatingly experimental MMORPG this ended up being, relative to what would follow in its wake just a few short years later.
Perhaps not a title winning any awards for its raw moment-to-moment gameplay by any means, but a compelling historical piece to admire during our stay here.

Okay, so I've been doing some testing around with fellowship/partying and the server is generally really good for it for starters:
>EXP sharing doesn't matter on level, might be lowered if the level difference is too big but you'll still be getting some even if you're afking in a corner as a level 1
>EXP amount is always a boon, rather than the usual 2 players -> 75% both, 3 -> 60% etc etc
>party player limit has been increased to 30 from 9, doubt we'll ever get 9 people in one, but something to consider
>quests progression is shared, kill 10 rabbits means that the party has to kill 10 rabbits
aka partying good
the bad thing is that it'll take to about level 70~100 content until partying actually becomes meaningful, because anything below that is a oneshot cakewalk fiesta as long as you've been picking up SOME gear every now and then and upping your defense skills.

There are some quests for a gear set that can be equipped starting at 40+ that seems to be solid. Each item has an armor level of 480 if you keep its mana charged. Search Exploration Society Letters on the wiki.

First part is getting 6 specific town stamps from very small dungeons.
>>
File: exp2.png (423 KB, 1720x824)
423 KB PNG
Second part is finding the Lucky Gold Letters which drop from any monster that is Level 80. Best choice is the Tusker Guard because of the insane spawn rate and it also has a 500 kill quest you pick up in Lin from Shoishi which gives 20m before QB.

You'll need 17 letters to make the entire set and when you get them you use this chart to stamp the letter with the corresponding town for the item you want.

When you do run Tusker Barracks I would strongly suggest setting up your loot macro as you wont have time to manually click each mob. They also sometimes drop Greater Mana Stones which I would suggest grabbing as well for future equipment charges

43, although I've missed out on a few nights' worth of questing, so I'm definitely behind-the-curve compared to most other Anon who started on day one.
Mostly been prioritizing the 500-by-50 path as highlighted previously (>>2947521), which is pretty minimal as far as EXP earning are concerned, as some quests cannot be started above a certain level threshold (apparently). Although if you do get level-locked out of certain quests, it's not a huge deal to just throw together a quick alt to snap 'em up, since Quest Bonus is account-wide on this server.

In messing with the keyboard camera controls, I've found that quickly tapping [NUM4] or [NUM6] for a very short time when the camera is directly behind you can produce this neat off-center effect.
Sure, it's not exactly viable for actual gameplay most of the time, but I'll take anything resembling camera offsets I can get after dozens upon dozens of MMOs with cameras firmly locked upon your character.

Shame there doesn't appear to be a way to outright disable the UI, however. Guess the idea of players wanting a clear view of the action for their screenshots was still a few years out from this title's release.

I think an interesting part of the game is all the old school internet and meme and pop culture references. It goes to show how putting those things in the game only really work in the moment and become dated very quick. And then in later years, become quite jarring or confusing unless you specific remember that internet reference. I have the same thing with WoW, even more so actually because for a good while like TBC - Cataclysm, they loved adding internet references. So early game is full of 2000s memes.

Another photoshoot for the archives, and a respectable turnout to-boot. Always love to see it.
While I did have to scale my usual 4k image down to a lower resolution for this title, and lacked a way to fully clean my screen for showtime as you'd usually see elsewhere, I'd still say what 'shots were taken turned out pretty alright given the circumstances. It's period-appropriate to have ones' UI showing whilst taking screencaps for an MMO of this vintage anyway.

Out of /226/ photos taken, I've narrowed them down to just a scant TEN (10) for this batch of uploads.
As ever, each one will be labeled appropriately, with little flavor text accompanying them unless otherwise necessary. Surely you know the drill by now.

And that'd be that. A nice set to round our first week off with, I'd say.

Really is heartening to see so many of (You) give this utterly ancient title a chance. While it may not be the easiest to get into compared to some of our usual fare, there's a certain spark to be found with this one which doesn't come around often across the wider MMO circuit.
Old entries in the genre are our stock-and-trade, sure, and we've seen plenty of them in our travels thus far, but this one's carved-out its own unique niche among throwbacks from decades past.

The latter-half of our stay awaits...!

Modern games will pack the reference into a gacha lootbox and sell it to you, Funko Pop style. It's the commercialization of culture that I'm fed up with. AC isn't an Eastern/Asian MMO, it's a western-developed one.
More to your point, the past few titles we've played all have semi-reasonable excuses for them to have seen relatively a modest turnout. In reverse chronological order...

- Asheron's Call is just plain old (it came out in '99 after all), and the inherent clunkiness which comes from a title of this vintage isn't for everyone. Plus its aesthetics obviously trend more DnD-inspired over animuesque, which isn't a bad thing, just appeals to a smaller audience on this site.
- Priston Tale was a nearly-as-old, janky and relentless Diablo style ARPG, which is already a love-it-or-hate-it style of genre for some. The odd splitting of Anon between servers also lead to comparatively lower total active players by nature. People don't want to choose the "wrong" server and thus decide to stay out of it entirely, hence part of the reason why committing to a single server choice is so important for us.
- Much of Aion's leveling climb followed a standard, quest-by-quest themepark structure, which is divisive amount MMOD-goers. Plus its appeal was further spoiled by choosing the most conservative possible server for it despite previous research strongly suggesting other options, leading to sluggish leveling (1x rates) and a dead atmosphere due to virtually zero natives.

Additionally, comparing anything we play to our previous peak, City of Heroes, isn't exactly fair, as CoH marked one of our most active periods in a long while. (Just don't look at what became of the thread we left behind. Thank goodness we dodged that mess by choosing a solid server during our stay).
Truthfully, I'm both surprised and relieved we managed to draw even this many Anon towards giving the ancient Asheron's Call a shot, alongside hearing generally positive sentiment from those who've tried it out (barring the game's aforementioned age-related clunk).

Thats what I mean. The past three before AC were all Asian, and had like 3 - 5 people on photo nights. AC is Western and has double that, despite the doomposting in the main thread.

Oh whoops, misread your post then, apologies.
KMMOs/CMMOs do have something of a reputation (and not an unwarranted one), but we've seen plenty of success with various entries in that subgenre before, so it could just be a general lull of activity overall.
(Also doubt anyone really anticipated the beta of WoW Forever arriving so soon, and I wouldn't be surprised if a few of our regulars were dabbling in that side of things while it's available. Not my thing, personally, but I do get the appeal).

>>2967322
Based Thwargle. Super cool to see the fan-communities of these ancient MMOs push their beloved games well past the original devs' limitations and expectations.
Pretty surreal to see modern lighting and shadow effects applied to such comically low-fidelity models by comparison, but I'd have to imagine this is a major project to watch among the AC 'scene.

It's crazy that some quests used to have a 14 day cooldown, MMOs really were built different back then.

Also I had a realisation when playing earlier that the game doesn't really fall back on the same tropes. There's no dwarves, elves, orcs, dragons. All the playable races are their own thing, even if a bit basic.

Been a bit, so may as well post some (not especially great) photos to the thread.
Finally arrived at the infamous "Runaround" step of the 500-by-50 guide, requiring a whole heaping helping of hopping from village-to-village, snagging whatever quests you can find to rack-up even more of that all-important Quest Bonus.
Had a minor scare when starting out, however, due to said guide strongly implying all quests pertaining to its "Runaround" portion were level-restricted to 50 and below, while I'd most certainly shot past that due to EXP-Share from the Allegiance system. Fortunately, all of these quests (barring one or two) up to where I stopped for the morning were able to be grabbed, even at Level 61. Phew.

Not a very glamorous 'shot, but moreso an informative one.

If you've been following the 500-by-50 guide to pump up your Quest Bonus, it's entirely possible you've missed this pack of NPCs just outside of Arwic entirely.
Every single monster starts a Slaying task for one Quest Stamp each, and speaking with Hob the Storyteller (and waiting for him to slowly tell his stories) awards a total of 15 Quest Stamps for zero effort. Totals-up to 27 QB for about ~3-4 minutes worth of talking - hell of a nice boost for anyone who hasn't swung by this place yet.

Appears each monster is named after a former player of the server, and Hob the Storyteller recounts past major (seasonal?) events to the player. Pretty neat for the community of this place to have left its own little mark on it.

Bit of Tusker hunting to close the morning out. Not proper farming, merely rolling through yet more quests.
With seemingly zero native cleave to its name, I have to imagine ranged weaponry becomes rather niche later on, barring instances where its damage type is required to pierce through enemy armor. Outside of the occasional proc from my Tusker Hater's Bow, I haven't a lick of AoE to my name thus far.
Being able to snipe things from a mile off is quite nice, and certainly not something to downplay. Yet the benefits of range don't exactly mean much once you're surrounded so thoroughly, as is common when delving through dungeons.

Part of the 500-by-50 route takes you through various Tusker and Olthoi tasks, leaving plenty of runway for completion of those sectors on ones' own time. Included in that batch are an optional quartet of excursions to the four Matron Hives, horrifying strongholds of the Olthoi menace.
In making short work of the opening two quest chains, I figured Matron Hive South, flagged as a Level 40 dungeon, wouldn't be too terrible. Big mistake. Evidently, just because a dungeon is flagged a certain level, doesn't mean the enemies inside will correspond to it.

Absolutely ceaseless swarms of Level 50-60 Grubs, Nymphs, and Drones choked the hallways of this horrendous hive, all serving their Level 80 Queen deep within the writhing complex.
The small-fry weren't too much of an issue, barring their overwhelming numbers and my complete lack of AoE. But the Queen was simply too much for me to handle while surrounded on all sides, forcing my retreat once completely exhausted of Stamina with a panic-stricken use of my Abandoned Mine crystal.

This whole bug infestation can - and will - burn in due time.

>rest of the gameplay is just an old traditional roguelike if the turns were realtime, both gameplay and dungeon designs
it's not bad enough to quit but it's not good enough to cheer about
probably the most lukewarm bland one so far, although I guess it doesn't help much that this is based off of the retail version where all the crazy batshit insane design choices were mellowed down over the years.
>>
I agree! Though, having those free server buffs absolutely did not help with feeling overpowered
>>

I disagree, this is one of the better games the project has ever seen, but its not for grindslop party purists
>>
>>2980559
That's the thing, I DON'T use the buffer.
I've entirely been running off of things that dropped from the mobs, quest gears and later on at 80 started self buffing myself because I had an ample amount of Skill Credits with nothing of value to spend them on.

The only real challenge was making sure I kept my mana up so I wouldn't lose the equipment buffs.

Even shorter morning than the last (whew boy), but managed to make it to Ayan Baqur for a few more Quest Bonus stamps before needing to hop off.
Coming to terms with not being able to complete the 500-by-50 route during our stay here, if only due to the frustratingly limited hours I've been able to afford this title throughout its second week. Still, its region-hopping guidance makes for a decent way to tour part of the wider realm, if nothing else.

Stumbled across what appears to be this player-housing district, known as the "Sharvale Settlement". Quite a respectable variety of home on-offer here, and in a lovely part of the woods relatively near the village of Zaikhal.
Granted, living in ANY location not protected by well-fortified stone walls is just asking to get your dream home ransacked by ravenous wildlife, but still. In this brief, quiet moment, it was quite nice.

Decided to stop on a hilly rise and survey the lay of the land before moving forward.
Neither hound nor wolf to be found baying at these twin moons, enticing all to bask in their lunar radiance. For the best on a night like this, honestly, as there's far more than enough ready to run you through in this part of the continent.

Just on the outskirts of Ayan Baqur was this curiously cordoned-off patch of land.
Thought it was a jousting site at first, but turns out it's a betting track for some sort of underground racing circuit. Some bookie was prowling the grounds, asking me if I wanted to dump FIVE(!) whole MMDs into the next race. What "race"? There's nobody here!
The hustle some people try to pull, I swear.

At last, Ayan Baqur proper...!
Deftly evaded piles of prismatic golems, horrifying Olthoi scouts, and bloodthirsty packs of Dredge - all Level 100 or above - to make it here, just for a few snippets of Quest Bonus to add to my totals.
Only after all of this hiking was it revealed to me that Ayan Baqur can be reached in less than 30 seconds by way of the Subway. Whoops. Oh well, made for decent photo fodder on the way here.

W-wew.
Wonder if that'll make all of the random monster summon drops we've been finding in droves worth keeping? Neat mechanic for a game of this vintage, even if the pathfinding for said monsters is virtually nonexistent.

These fuckers jumpscared me the first time I portaled to Rithwic. I had to jump off the bridge in town to keep them from spawncamping my corpse. This server seems to really enjoy putting superbosses right next to town entrances.
>>2981037
I've been trying to walk to every town in game the first time that I need to go there for flavor purposes. My headcanon is that walking there unlocks portaling there for future trips. This game really is more about the journey instead of the destination. Picking up quest tips in bars/libraries is a fairly immersive way of finding new adventures. I'd imagine that towns felt a lot more alive when this game was in its heyday though.

Some notable events in the recent adventures of Anon (Quixote):
>Found an infinity stone in a windmill for my Atlan Bow.
This marks the 4th windmill I've encountered in my time adventuring in this land. It's surprisingly ludo that this is the first upgrade that I've found for this weapon considering my namesake. I was also able to free up inventory space after writing down the locations of the other stone rumor tips. This kind of customizable weapon system feels like the distant ancestor of a lot of RPGs today.

A restaurant themed dungeon in Shoushi harbored a terrible secret. Underneath the sweet facade of edible enemies I encountered the chamber of a thief who had become trapped inside. In an attempt to get rich quick, the young thief stole some cooking supplies to use in a magical ritual. The ritual must have gone horribly wrong, as he was now confined to a tiny room and repeatedly killed by adventurers sent by the cook he had stolen from. Attached is a note detailing his situation. The cow themed parking lot was a nice touch and the food wasn't bad either. 4/5 stars.

>Became an honorable Bunny Master
I followed a quest tip originating in Lytelthorpe to Farmer Larry, who had what appeared to be a fairly mundane problem of rabbit overpopulation in his garden. I agreed to take care of the problem for him, and was teleported to his garden in exchange for a single Pyreal. Much to my surprise, I found the dungeon was populated by colorful rabbits made out of candy. The rabbits weren't very powerful, but took a while to clear out due to their massive numbers. I took some lucky rabbit feet back to the Farmer, and was rewarded with the title "Bunny Master" but no QB Stamps.

>Explored the Eastern Coast of Dereth
Off the coast of Dereth I noticed two sets of islands that require further exploration. The first is the titular Asheron's Island, where I assume the famous wizard lives, just off the coast of Eastham. The second was Aphus Lassel, a banana shaped island that is said to be home to a wide variety of Tuskers. I end this adventurer's log in the small nearby Fortress Settlement of Dryreach, who seem to be constantly at war with the local Tumerok population. I finally found a use for the Dryreach Key that I purchased at the start of my journey, so even more inventory space saved! Anon Quixote, signing off.

Hell of an interesting ride, this title turned out to be...!

A day late in uploading these (whoops), but here are the curated results of our Week Two "Farewell" Photoshoot event.
Out of 152 photos taken, these NINE (9) takes represent the best of the bunch; and with two alts amongst them, that's seven unique locales visited during the somewhat whirlwind tour just before the end.
As ever, each photo will be labeled and every post accompanying them (barring the first and last of the set) will be largely void of flavor text, barring a chronology tracker. It's this old song-and-dance again, as I'm sure you're well aware.

With that, lettuce begin.

And thus concludes our stay in in these harsh and unforgiving lands.

What a game this ended up being. So much ambition on clear display to create a proper, fully 3D CRPG-style experience of the era, brought forth into the then wild and still largely untamed realm of the Internet.
Even if all of its parts don't necessarily work the smoothest with one another - any title of this vintage is bound to have a healthy share of jank to it - it's nonetheless easy to admire just how grand a goal this title was aiming to accomplish, in a time where the rules for what an MMORPG should be were anything but set in stone.

Asheron's Call might not have been the smoothest thing we've played for this project so far by any stretch, but it was certainly one of the most uniquely memorable entries in the genre we've encountered so far. Strongly suspect we won't be coming across anything quite like it for a long while to come.
