The thing about RO and MMORPGs is how the timed events, be it WoE raids or whatever is such a chore, nowadays I prefer games that I can pick and drop whenever I want whatever day I want and leave whenever I want without stupid feelings of commitment and letting people down because they won't able to do X Y or Z without you your class your role whatever.

I think this is why MMORPGs have declined in popularity, its hard to compare how intrusive this genre is compared to many other online games that offer a better pick up and play experience, better competitive experience for those who want this angle, less grind or no grind and more. Sure online games always existed on PC but now they're far more widespread and encompass more subgenres and may just scratch the MMORPG itch enough not to play those games that have those annoying mechanics designed to keep you subscribed forever, made to waste your time, like upgrading gear breaking them, it's just kid gambling designed by homos

I think for the type of experience I describe, you need a server with literal thousands of concurrent players in order to always have something going on in the RO server, multiple parties in different places so you can drop in and check what's going on and pick a group to play with. With the numbers of people currently playing this, you'll end shackled to a small tiny group and then you know what happens, you'll get those small windows of activity which means play X time of the day or you get nothing. Or you get those solo-servers like the card one where everyone is playing by himself with multiclients and with enough cards and costumes you become quite super saiyan
