Where's the vm server
>>2950547i know it's been 15 years but i don't remember skyrim looking that bad
I thought I'd try out fishing this run because I've never done it in earnest beforeGuys, this shit kinda sucksI ate some honey, queen's jam, and a cloudberry, and I was barely able to catch perches before my stamina was empty, and that was with waiting for the fish to stop struggling before I tried reeling them inHow the hell are you supposed to be catching anything more difficult?>just drag them onto the beach and pick them up, broThat doesn't get you the bonus loot, which is the only thing making fishing worth doing, as otherwise you're basically just wasting time catching what's essentially wolf meat, except wolf meat is so much easier to get and doesn't require a food prep table like fish does
>>2950588According to the wiki weirdgoop, higher skills don't give a bonus chance to give you more fish? That's only for the rest of the fishes but if you really need to fish within stamina limits, building a harbor sticking out would help, to push out more dry land to meet the fishes with.
>>2950588cast line out, reel it in with nothing on itrepeat this for a while until you feel your level is highxp is 0.25/s while reeling, doubled if you have a fish on the hook but you need to stop and such so its really never doublethis dramatically increases reel speed and stamina efficiency and allows you to catch fish much easieralternatively sit on a boat and do tap casts so you only need to reel in for a second once they bite
>>2950604theres no bonus loot but higher level fish are effectively impossible to obtain without cheesing it a little at lower skill, and higher fish levels give waaaay more per cut
>>2950604>higher skills don't give a bonus chance to give you more fish?>>2950621>theres no bonus lootI'm talking about the bonus loot in addition to the fish meatPerch can give you stone and amber, troll fish can give you troll hide and copper, northern salmon can give you carrot seeds and silver, etc.You only get that bonus loot if you fully reel in the fish and it gets absorbed into your inventory, because that's when the bonus loot is rolled; just picking up the fish out of a weir doesn't give you any chances for the loot, it just gives you the fish>>2950609I mean I tried doing that, but if you get too close to the fish, they become panicked and won't bite
>>2950693There's no way to cheese the fishing then if there's a minimum distance to reel it in with. I recall that you can chug stamina potions mid game but you listed off early game materials so I doubt you can do that now.
you guys are making me want to grab a handful of my vodka girly drinks and just fish off the dock for the rest of tonight watching whatever bullshit on youtube instead of tackling my anime backlog
>>2950719Hey, if you are a mage those fishes will be useful in the last Biome for food
>>2950733I dont like magic and ive completed the game
Got raided by swamp monsters while at my silver mining camp, and after it was over I found this golem stuck in a crater with entrails and bones strewn about. Think it would be cool to build something near him, but no clue what
Is there some kind of modern replacement for Better Continents mod or should I wait for the updated version?
I am going to try and tame some wolves when I'm back in the game. These raids are getting ridiculous. I hope I won't get oneshot with my swamp armor trying to do that.
>>2950860it will take a while, especially if they're starred. i recommend making some taming meads beforehand if you've found your witch
well this is new. black forest biome that's filled with ghosts.
>>2950945Really fucking cool, but it's a shame they aren't more threatening. If you go in there with swamp gear they aren't anything but an annoyance.
what determines if a basement will flood, proximity to the ocean, or altitude?
>>2951040altitudebut being close to the shore means water will rise during storms
>>2951040A bit of both. Water level is constant throughout the world. If you are in a particularly low spot in the middle of a continent you can dig down to water. Whether or not that water is effected by waves is dependent on your proximity to large bodies of water.
I have an idea for a mega-taming structure. First floor(grey) will be semi-underground and will be the taming and breeding place for wolves. It will have a smaller cell for a couple of wolves that will be breeding as much as possible, while the outer room will be my panic button. Full of tamed wolves that I will open a door when I'm getting raided, and the breeding couple will stay locked behind. Upper floors would be split in half, one half for boars, the other half for chickens. Has anyone done something like this? More importantly, has anyone done this without looking like a Walmart storage?
>>2951065https://youtu.be/qmvLZRqZ3Ig
>>2951065won't the wolves stop breeding if there are too many tamed wolves close by?
>>2951123there's a limit per surface area
>>2951076>this 3d labyrinth Ye that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid.>>2951123Correct. I don't want a million wolves, just 4-6 disposable ones each time I'm getting raided. After the raid I'll just feed the initial 2 wolves so they can produce a few more for the next raid.
>>2951138You have to keep the breeding pair quite far from the other ones. That’s why auto breeders are usually towers that drop the babies from height.
I hate that clothes count as inventory slots instead of...clothes you put shit into as inventory.
>>2951237Need a mod that removes 4 inventory slots and adds 4 equipment slots
>>2951238What a Swedish suggestion. I'm surprised the devs didn't do this themselves.
>>2951504It's a perfect solution for your perceived problem
it's another episode of can't decide on where to build my base.
>>2951237Aren't there mods for transmog?
>>2951553It's not my problem, I'm playing without extra slots or backpacks for the first time in years because they finally added an in game way to upgrade your inventory.
It's starting to come together.
>>2951644Stiltskino
>>2951707I've still got to make a dock and a boat for the other side that's more on the water. I thought I'd be able to keep my smelters on wood platforms on the same stilty stuff as the other housing but in hindsight expected that does seem kinda stupid. So all the metal processing is going to have to go on land but I think it'll look cool enclosed in the very first copper pit I mined in this world (after it's all dug out).
>find a bear cave>with a fir tree next to it with a beehive in itNever knew they put beehives in trees...despite the kind of obvious real life connection.
Terraformed too much anon here, I'm currently deathmarching to enjoy some proper foightin' down through the forests to put a portal down on the stones and maybe the elder if I can walk to him.My loot chest for all the dosh stuff has already filled and now I'm onto a second one and I'm nowhere near finished marching.
>Life after turning off invasionsI'll probably turn them back on eventually but fortifying bases while at Black Forest is too time consuming. Also those damn Greydwarves swim better than Michael Phelps
if I only cover half of a 2x2 wood floor with a roof, does it still take rain damage?
>>2952097>During rainy weather, players and objects not under a Roof become wet. A roof will protect from rain if it is within 100 meters directly above the center of the object in question. This is not the same as the Shelter Effect—shelter checks that a player is mostly enclosed in all directions, whereas rain can only be deterred by a non-"leaky" object directly above.so if the roof ends over the center of the 2x2, that should count as coverage since that works for walls?
know what I really wish they added? triangular shaped crystal walls, like the new timberbood pieces. plus why can't I make things like support beams (similar to flammetal) out of black metal? seems like a huge waste, given how plentiful it is.
What am I looking at hoss?Should I break the rock or what?
>>2952131never seen anything like that before, must be new. no idea but my guess is it's just set dressing, nothing to worry about. either there's ore, or maybe you'll fall through and end up in a dungeon or something but I doubt it.
>>2952080They're so boring I can't even judge people for turning them off.Like the very first times you get them, I think they have an alright impact on the experience of the game, but that stops.I guess I respect the gjall raids in mistlands a bit.
minimalism.
>>2952131Thats a point of interestThe small rocks are actually Mysterious Rocks
Consider this my application to join stiltsgang
>>2952402It's lonely at the top of the stilts.I like that center roof design, I am taking notes.
more like slitsgang
deep north would have been better with a "freeze to death" mechanic, no amount of furs would protect you in -50
>>29515631st base should be on some peninsula or at the mouth of a river, and right next to a black forest so you can ferry copper back without much issue2nd base should be in some plains that are bordering the mistlands3rd base is optional since the ashlands gives you stone portals that let you take everything back to your 2nd base, and which I assume will let you take deep north stuff back as well
>>2952111I wish we had 2x2 crystal walls instead of only 1x1syou can't see shit out of them because of the edge texture
>>2953472being wet & cold there should've at least started to kill you
>>2953540being wet and cold in even the black forest is dangerous, but it does nothing because you are wearing a wolf cape over metal armour
>new forge isn't showing up in any of my nearby islands>fuck it, check out the map gen site to see where it spawned on my seed>one of them is just in an island a sea away from where i fought the bonemassfuck it
just started swamp cryptingI am immediately regretting not setting my rates to 3xI think I'm gonna finish off this swamp and then change it
So if I get this right, these new idol thingies, are mostly for niche items that fall off in the late game due to their low armor stats, like the root armor or the fenris leggings. But even then, it doesn't make much sense. Fernis leggings has 16 armor at +4, at +6 it should go at 20 armor. The base Ask trousers starts at 28. It doesn't make any difference, the fenris still stays obsolete armor-wise. And that's taking into account you would win the 65% gamble twice in a row, so 42% chance. For weapons, it's even less of a difference from what I see. Let's take the Iron Battleaxe. At +4 it does 88 damage, which is also a lie because that is the maximum damage at skill lvl 100. With 2 successful rituals, it will go to 100 at +6. The next weapon upgrade in this class is the Crystal Battleaxe which starts at 90 at base and goes to 96 at +1. The risk doesn't justify the reward.>But these are for the very-lategame players who still need more damage over their +4 Nord SwordThen why add the chore for wooden weapons? Why add the chore for the bronze axe that will be obsolete in 2 hours of gameplay? Why add the chore for the iron battleaxe that you can't even upgrade with the ritual until you go to the mountains, which is also the place where you get a better upgrade even after you succeed twice with the ritual? Because finding the idols in the first place wasn't a big enough chore, finding the Forge of Potential which is in my next biome wasn't a big enough chore, do I also have to risk 125 iron ingots on a 42% chance just so I can get a worse weapon than the next tier?Even if they remove the failure chance for lower tier gear, it still barely makes any sense to bother with this mechanic.
>>2953778failure chance shouldnt exist but nothing recently added has had much thought put into it, trinkets were a great idea that completely missed the mark with the adrenaline gain rates and overall balancing. this upgrade gamble system is just for the retards who make videos in their 2000 hour worlds to have something to explore the entire map for.
>>2953766Is it that bad? I've got mine set to x1.5 and it's felt pretty ok so far. I haven't done much yet though, still have yet to get bronze gear and slay the Elder.
>>2953826the demand for iron is fucking huge where a single crypt run won't be enough to cover for what you'll need
>>2953766Are you sure you aren't forgetting to check in the chests that exist in the crypts? In my playthrough I cleared these crypts on the right, and I just started exploring the ones on the left, the first chest I opened in the one I circled had that much iron. It's almost impossible to have an issue with finding iron, the hard part is transporting it back to base.
>>2953826I know from previous playthroughs that the amount of iron I am going to end up needing is going to be somewhat staggering, and so far I'm averaging <30 iron per crypt. Realistically, I'm only going to need to get 4 stacks of 30 since that's all the karve can carry, but 120 iron is barely going to put a dent in my future needs, and spending more time in the swamp than I have to is not desirable
>>2953839I am checking all the chests, however, so far about 1/4 have had iron, while 3/4 have been full of leather scraps, chains, valuables, ancient bark, and poison arrows, and anything else I'm forgetting
>>2953848To be fair, crypt generation is RNG, so you may find one crypt like I did that had 4 rooms in total and nothing inside, or you can find a jackpot crypt like I did yesterday that had 140 iron scraps. The one I just finished had this much inside, and I can already see the next one from the roof of this one. Default resource modifier, since the chest loot isn't affected by that 2x or 3x multiplier, and the majority of scraps comes from chests so I dunno.
>>2953866>since the chest loot isn't affected by that 2x or 3x multiplier, and the majority of scraps comes from chests so I dunno. It is affected by the 3x multiplier, but it doesn't create new stacks, and allegedly only works for crypts generated with the setting in place. So with 3x, regardless if you rolled 10 or 20 iron in the chest, the stack is still capped at 30.
someone please post the most optimal way to place the forge upgrades around the forge, without putting them on another floor or in another room, because these shits are so annoying with how much invisible space they take up
>>2953892here you go, the best layout possible
>greyling has moved into the base a while back>return after exploring mountains for a few days>a second greyling is hanging out in my forge>he swipes at me>just as I move to kill him the other greyling runs up to me>pause>second greyling runs off>no more violence from him; I now have two adopted freaksI don't know what the fuck is wrong with these enemies' ai. I'm sort of curious how many I will get eventually.
>>2953940>just cheat bro:/
>>2953892not optimal, just seems like the tightest that you could squeeze them in is in a 4x4 layout
>get to ashlands for the first time>finish making a base camp>i guess its time to explore >big ass bird and bone demon spawn as soon as I start to exploredamn, this place really is hell.
Deep NorthiesWhat is the point of the shovel? Snow doesn't seem to slow you down on foot and snow comes back even after shoveling.Does completely sealing a structure block the wind blowing through it or does that happen anyway?
>>2954001morgen are fun to parry because their attack pattern is the same timing no matter the ability and you can lock them in place foreverparry -> swing twice, never thrice -> parry repeat>>2954021when you hover repair on a roof piece and it flashes blue, it means snow will break it eventually once theres too much of it. you can completely prevent this by reinforcing it more until they are all happy greens. otherwise not much use besides clearing spots to build portals. I leave my shovel behind in my northie base usually. still funny that we turned the emerald flame into a fucking shovel
>>2954102>morgen are fun to parry because their attack pattern is the same timing no matter the ability and you can lock them in place foreveryeah lol it's extremely satisfying
>>2953841>and so far I'm averaging <30 iron per cryptIn one crypt i had 5 stacks of 30 iron.
I always just make a little base near a crypt by the ocean then clear out like ~5 nearby crypts and slowly bring all the iron to the one base to sail back to my main base. usually fill my longship. never really need more after that.
you guys have good portal names?>jew, wife, hag and casino for traders and forge>asuka and rei for ashlands and deep north bases>swamp is FART>fuwawa and mococo for mountains>entoma is mistlands>taiga for plains
>>2954168My portal names are usually just generic and straight to the point. If it goes to a plains biome it's just going to be called "Plains", if it goes to a boss it's just the boss name etc."Forest Jew" and base names are the only exceptions most of the time>fuwawa and mococo for mountainsBau bau my nigga
>>2954168awayaway2
>>2953892>>2953994Need about 4x4 Large Stone Floor and about 2 walls high to cram every crafting station (except workbench) in Vanilla.
PATCH NOTES
>* Fixed a bug where terrain modifications by players or monsters could lead to performance and portal issues in multiplayer, such as performance and portaling issues, terrain seams, and terrain modifications becoming undonewas having this in singleplayer, hope thats fixed
>>2954168>fuwawa and mococo for mountainsIs this just based on the size of the mountain or what?
>>2954168Do a naming convention like "Gateway XX" with the X replaced by numbers (Gateway 01, Gateway 02 etc) then place the names on the map because map icons can accept more characters (Gateway 01: Haldor ... Gateway 15: Deepnorth). That's just what I do. I usually name them based on what one would expect to find when they arrive, be it merchants, boss altars, or the biome themselves. While I'm at it, I should explain that you only need two portals at your base, your main "Gateway" and then another one called "Return" or "Home" or "127.0.0.1" if you're a faggot. See how it works is, 1. You establish a portal at your base.2. Go out into the world, put a portal somewhere, and name that second portal the same as the first, right? You got two portals with the same name.3. When you create a third portal, it needs a fourth in order to always be active. Only, you can simply rename the main portal in order to switch when necessary.4. So you establish a second "Home" portal at your base5. When you go out into the world, you establish that fourth portal and name it Home so you can get back to your house6. Then, rename the first portal with whatever name you want the fourth portal to have, then travel back through the Home portal to get back to where you established the fourth portal and rename it, too. Now, you got four portals:1. Your main bitch, named the same as portal 42. Your first foreign portal, named whatever you originally named it3. Your Home portal, which should now be inactive4. A fourth portal, named whatever you originally named itAnytime you want to go back to portal 2, you just change the name of portal 1, do your business, but them COME BACK TO YOUR BASE. otherwise, you carry a "pocket portal" and name it Home so you can come back when you establish it, and follow that same protocol to name it as well. Point is, this is better than having several portals at your base, whole rooms of motherfucking portals.
>>2954256I have a set of portals surrounding my warehouse to major bases and the powers, then have 2 portals to change based on need. in my house hidden away is the sacred "oops" portal that MUST be freed up if it is ever called upon as soon as possible which has saved my ass plenty.
>>2954153>near a cryptWhy not ON a crypt? And ye, I do the same thing. Ideally park my boat on a calmer nearby biome, and either craft a cart and prepare some terrain for the road to cryptbase -> boat, or stack deerbuff and ratatosk and zoom back and forth a couple times.
>>2953994Perhaps I'm blind, but where are the copper-tier anvils?>>2954168I call my plains portal "strife" because when I first encountered them, I found cloudberries, which reminded me of cloud strife. It's also an accurate description of what to expect in the plains.Good naming conventions tho.Where Mofufu?>>2954210That's both on a different floor and in a different room.
>>2954324I just firepole dropped from my portal room to my bed room to the forge room. The forge itself is taking like 2 large stone floor in foot print only, all the upgrade it needs is at shoulder height.
>>2954153The swamp that has the Bonemass altar tends to have lots of crypts so I'll always look for that first before building anything in a swamp, but once I do find a spot I like to start fortifying it and use it as a hub for smelting before shipping the iron wherever it's needed.Just started on a small base right next to the witch, Bonemass is nearby too and so are plenty of crypts.
>>2954210How the fuck do you enjoy this claustrophobic torture chamber?
>>2954241Oh good. My friends and I had to quit after a while during our first landing in deep north. It was 1fps and the portals were getting people stuck in limbo.
>>2954579I started the base during Mistland and was terrified that G'jall raids or worse from later patches would nuke the shit out of my base so made it with a caldera bunker as its foundations and just space-maxed for all future requirements.
>>2954241>2021>Valheim runs pretty well, except there's some performance issues in areas with a lot of terrain modification>2026>Valheim runs pretty well, except there's some performance issues in areas with a lot of terrain modification
ok this mod that let's you see your map at the cartography table is neatthis path was when i was sure im heading straight north to place a portal at the edge of my continent
>don't like crafting from storage>feels like it ruins base building since you lose the function part of building a base>think the log and stone piles are neat, but much better off just placing the stone in a chestMade me realize what I think would be fun, if there was a mod that let build structures out of those types of resource piles as long as they're in range of the stonecutter or whatever.Would make progress of builds look a lot neater, especially in mp.Obviously not something that should be base game, but would love an immersive mod like that.
>>2954641https://thunderstore.io/c/valheim/p/MSchmoecker/DynamicStoragePiles
>>2954324actually good question. turns out that build is only level 6, i only showed that one since it's easier to see how much space you'll need with the tiles. here's my current since the image that i posted was from my old pre-1.0 map that i decided to come back to and finish some business...
I used to think I had a good idea on how comfort ranges worked but in my most recent rendition of the sort of tavern/inn build I usually do I cannot for the life of me figure out why I only get comfort 18 in the middle of the place. Do I need to bury more beds under the floorboards? place more banners? as you see in the screenshot I have 13 in this corner, despite getting 5 more levels closer to the stoves.
There Will Be Blood.
I was in an insane Infested Mine.I didn't even finish exploring it since I just needed the vegvisir and I was low on supplies.3 spiral staircases in those big water rooms.1 long thin staircase, one of those long hallway staircases.Another spiral staircase that you often see in the entrance chamber. Most of it was connected without shut doors, so a lot of enemies were attracted to the noise in the hallway.I think I killed 20+ Seekers in that starting hallway.3 seeker soldiers, 1 of which camped the top of a staircase and had 1 star.Lucky to not encounter any 2 stars considering the numbers. Some of those smaller rooms aren't perfectly to scale, but close enough.
>>2954998From what I recall, they gave comfort to a bunch of build items that previously did not have any associated with them. It could be that you're simply not in range of those items when you're in that far corner
>>2954999this keeps happening after patchfucking greynigs are so much more nosy
>>2955052problem is that I'm not in range of all of it unless I'm smack dab in the center of the building, but it's not that big of a space and I have furniture and decorations literally everywhere. did they nerf burying comfort items under the floorboards? I have the base's only dragon bed under a wood floor where the wolf carpet is in that screenshot
>sail away from mistlands>fog so thick I end up going the wrong way and end up at my last outpost>idle until I can sleep>storm
>>2955063>did they nerf burying comfort items under the floorboards? Not according to any source I've seenI know the hearth's comfort range is lower than the range at which it provides the fire effect, and it doesn't look like you're within range of the thrones either where you're standing. I think the ovens also give comfort now, which you're far from, and the mead casks might too?
I got stranded here years ago when I played.Boat got destroyed and I tried to get the nails and deer hides back from the bottom of the ocean.Climbed the cliff above the dungeon and removed my feather cape before jumping down, while trying to get enough momentum to reach the bottom. If I had just made a work bench close enough they wouldn't have despawned and maybe I could've gotten them back.I think at one point my 3 foods were Magecap, Jotun Puffs and Cooked Serpent Meat.
>>2954420lovely camp
Why the fuck won't birch saplings drop from their tress I have hundreds of beech seeds but I don't want beech seeds I want a forest of birch trees.
>>2955550I think they have to be “mature”
Think I should try hunting down the merchants? I could gunsmoke Elder right now then probably get enough iron to make a real boat relatively quickly then go do it.Or gamble and go out in a Karve and hope for a quick miracle.
>>2955666I usually wait til I get an iron boat, the carve is kind of shitty and can't outrun a sea serpent IIRC.
>>2955666wait for longboat
>>2955644Trees have multiple growth stages?
>>2955550they are not very giving with the seeds, i feel like acorns are more plentifulyou'd have to chop a plains forest to come away with a worthwhile yield
I don’t understand why the stone fence breaks when stacked on another one.
After some difficulties, it's time to head back and cash out on our iron grind.
>>2956094good haul
>>2956068They're really janky. Seems like they require a frame of sorts to sit in for them to not crumble. If you build up a regular wooden wall first and then snap the stone fences inside those walls you should be good.
>local viking makes landfall in Swamp and has to retreat thrice back through a portalFirst the 2 star zombie greeted me with a bro, literally where I landed, then some absolutely fucking crazy ass skeletons dealing 1 gorillion more damage than the forest ones nearly killed me because I was caught off guard, another 2 with a 1 star zombies noise checked me, 3 of the green slime fucks throughout all this, I try to make up toward a raised cabin and a fresh squad spawn in behind me and I pull out the bow to snipe them and the first fucking shot misses, lands into the water of the swamp where I assumed nothing was present, and this tree fuck spawned out the god damn ground to come murder me because I accidentally stealth attacked something that I didn't even know about.Jesus titty fucking christ I landed in 'Nam.
>>2956175and right after the tree died I turned around and ate a 1 star skeleton archer bolt for 90 damage straight out of deep water, now I'm fuckin dead.
>>2956175You made one crucial mistake. You landed head in into swamps. Should have scouted for a nearby meadows or black forest bordering this swamp. So when shit hits the fan like it did with you, you can always run back to the safety of the earlier biomes. Other than that, yea, welcome to the most ass biome in the game before Mistlands. If you play on Hard, these 2 starred archer ghouls will be oneshotting you even if you get all the upgrades from this biome.>>2956108Thanks. had to leave half a stack behind because I miscalculated how heavy a pocket-boat is, and I couldn't be arsed to do another foot trip for 15 iron after carrying 360 back.
>>2956208I'd rather know why the god damn skeletons are more dangerous than the zombies.
>>2956242Unconstrained by flesh.
>>2956242The swedes overcompensated. Skellies used to just be the basic shitter skellies regardless of biome so they were a joke. Now they have upgraded versions per biome and they hot harder than they really should. Not that I'll complain much, it's nice that they're a threat. They still die fast so as long as you don't get overwhelmed you should be fine.Bring an atgeir if you must, its spin attack dunks on hordes so you can even run straight into those spawner clusters that have like 3 different spawners and be perfectly fine so long as you manage your stamina.
>>2956242Because you didn't learn the lessons from the blue troll in the previous biome. Not every hit is parriable, and when you see stars, not every hit is worth risking parrying it. If I see a 2 star ghoul or skeleton in the swamp and he is alone, I dodge roll his hits and do my combos, especially if I know how to chain stagger him. If the 2 star has company, I do an 180 and pretend that part of the map doesn't exist.
>>2956322>I dodge roll his hits and do my combosJust back up when he swings and save some stamina lol
>>2956356>mob behind him pushes him forward while swinging so he stays in range
>>2956322But I did learn my lesson about trolls and parrying, that's why I didn't try parrying the abomination, clearly the troll upgrade, and was shocked that when I did on a whim I staggered the shit out of him and beat his ass.The amount of times I get ambushed by some skeleton archer while I fight so many abominations that I have a fully upgraded chest piece is ridiculous, I'm not worried about the giant tree enemy I can parry, I'm worried about some guerilla skeleton 0-1 star archers sitting in 5 foot high water slapping my ass while I fight.God I can't wait for these turnips to finish so I can make whatever food they let me make.
Is it just for me or does world gen hate flat land?
managed to get a perpetual fire buff somehow
redpill me on no portals mode, the immersive preset selects it.

>>2955666>>2955685>>2955692The karve is perfectly fine for exploring - better than the longboat even, since the acceleration is faster, and so is the paddling speed for when the wind inevitably shifts. It can also absolutely outrun a serpent, it just depends on the wind speed.
>>2957248>The karve is perfectly fine for exploringEarly on, yes.>better than the longboat evenNow that is just ironlet cope. The longship is far FAR better at handling waves during storms, can tank a decent amount of hits, paddles at almost the exact same speed (it's actually slightly faster, 3.14 m/s vs 3.16 m/s) but is way faster when sailing, and has actual useable storage space in addition to having deck space for a cart or animals. The ONLY reason to ever use a Karve over a longship is to navigate narrow rivers.
it's crazy how many things just 1shot you in this game.
>>2956175>>2956185One has to wonder why they decided to buff skeletons in later biomes without telling anyone, especially in the swamp where they were already somewhat dangerous since they'd sit in the middle of a deep lake and shoot arrows at you. I don't think it was necessary to give each biome after the meadows up to the plains their own buffed variant.

>>2957093>>2957210https://valheim.weirdgloop.org/w/Copper_Deposit#Gallery>bounding boxes>>2957326The longship takes forever to get going if the wind is not ideal, and it easily gets stuck on underwater rocks and terrain. It's better for hauling lots of shit like a cargo ship, but the karve is simply the better exploration boat, especially since its components weigh less and take less inventory slots>>2957383Depends on your preparedness, food, and armor desu, but yes
>>2957487>take less inventory slotsnevermind I'm trippin'
>>2957487The few seconds of extra time it takes to get going with paddling is made up for by saving orders of magnitude more time on sailing across oceans. Parking better mitigates that paddling startup time a lot too if we're assuming the wind is always against you.You can sail at full speed extremely close to shore without ever bumping into shit so if that's an issue you're having then I must assume you're practically scraping the side of your ship against the beach at all times.Carrying lots of extra shit while exploring is valuable because it lets you set up bases as you go, without having to go mining every time you need a forge or stonecutter. Absolutely worth it over the Karve.
Berry bushes drop seeds so I can plant them somewhere else, right?
>>2957638nope.
5 years in EA and this game is still unplayable without mods
>>2957638No, they're simply plants that exist out in the world that regenerate their berries every 5 hours. Once destroyed, there's no way to get another plant, save for spawning one in with console commands. The same goes for every other berry plant, except for vineberries in the asslands. There's also the 'plant everything' mod that lets you replant them for a cost of like, 10 berries or so.
I don't know why it's so hard for me to just leave some shit behind. I always feel like I need to take every single thing that drops back to my base.
Decided to build a portal hub on top of this gigantic mountain. The peak is just above the cloud line which makes for a really cool view like you are in some isolated pocket dimension in the sky.The lengths you need to go to to build stuff like this puts some puzzle games to shame I swear to god.

>>2958665>im about to start building a port, and farm-building (in two different locations). Any tips for that? For the port, make sure the dock terminates either at the same level or lower than the ship's deck so that you can reach the cargo hold from the dock. Also, make sure it's an ambidextrous dock; you can easily pull up into it, coming from both north & south, or east & west. For the farm, assuming it's just for crops, you should put it completely out of render distance connected via portal, so that it doesn't get destroyed by greynigs or other mobs attacking it. The crops check how much time has passed every time they're loaded in, so teleporting there after like an hour, they'll all initiate their check and they'll all grow at once. However, this isn't how taming things works, the mobs actually have to be loaded in to progress their taming meter.
