The Emerald server is the most active so you will want to create a pirate there. Other servers still exist but they have much less players.

Oceans merged in 2012 shortly after Sega acquired Three Rings (the original developers). Sage/Hunter became Emerald, Viridian/Malachite became Meridian, and Midnight/Cobalt became Cerulean.

Yes (and Spiral Knights). They recently assigned some new staff to specifically support Puzzle Pirates and it has received a few updates in the last couple of months. More updates are coming.

If you were ever subscribed or bought doubloons with real money the account won't be deleted.
