Heat-seeking lateral cave missile

>What is Casualties: Unknown?
Casualties: Unknown is a currently in-development game by Orsoniks which currently has a free demo out on Steam. Set in a surprisingly grimdark universe in spite of the cute and fluffy characters, the game revolves around time-limited (by default) cave exploration, and features a remarkably in-depth and autistic hyper-detailed health system.

>How do I play multiplayer?

Both are required to play multiplayer, more mods can be found on the Nexus hub.

This guide and FAQ covers most things wouldn't fit in this OP.

>What about servers?
There's usually many public servers open, but currently the multiplayer mod isn't perfect and desync and lag WILL and CAN happen (items not syncing on clients, rubberbanding, etc). It's best practice to keep servers running on low ping, and to have other players pick up your desynced items if they're dropped to help force refresh them and make them usable for you again.

Anon lobbies pop up fairly often. There's also a 24/7 dedicated server run by an anon:
82.168.135.188:7790
Password: rage

>Can I run this on Linux?
The game including mods runs natively on Proton, the only thing you have to worry about is the (former) keybinds .json being shelved in the Proton compatibility "drive" (folder system), instead of its normal directory.

The official game releases November 9th!

I hate v5 it was shit and not worth it, and all this wait for what? Laggy mess? Not even meeting deadline of "end of august"! I curse mp dev with explosive diarrhea to the end of year. Deserved.
Only good thing is enemies being good and actually moving without teleporting, but it alone can't carry the update. Not to mention other mods breaking on release. All I feel is disappointment and annoyance. v4 was better.
>>
Lobby OVER. To put it short it was a very miserable experience for everyone. Even after restarts every layer there was all sorts of desync issues, glitches, lag, low fps. I really couldn't recommend NOT using v5.x enough. Maybe when the performance mods update it MIGHT be worth another try but it still seemed really jank and weird in unexplainable ways.

You use Rider too? :face_holding_back_tears:
>>
>>3074773
Yea, mostly because of my familiarity with CLion
The built-in decompiler is also nice as dotPeek has a pretty buggy UI (though Rider has less tools for searching methods and strings and stuff)
Speaking of, I should do a comparison between dotPeek, ILSpy and dnSpyEx. Their outputs are quite different from each other and I can't find any real discussion about their quality.
dotPeek is my personal favorite, but it's also the only decompiler that can outright fail to decompile a method (The giant method registering all items is one example, have to keep dnSpyEx on hand just for that method)
>>
>>3075287
And for me, it's because I use IntelliJ IDEA. The only thing that disappointed me is that the built-in sampler doesn't seem to work with Unity when profiling BepInEx mods (or maybe I'm just doing something wrong?). IntelliJ, on the other hand, has a state-of-the-art profiler; you can attach to any running process and easily identify hotspots, memory leaks, and thread hangs. As for comparing decompilers, that would be interesting to see. Personally, I use Rider's built-in decompiler (ctrl + lmb) and ILSpy whenever I need to quickly inspect the code of a DLL, and I haven't noticed much of a difference, apart from ILSpy leaving a shitton of warn comments in the code

hi casunk writefags
i need advice, working on a first-person story for this game rn
i feel like the narration is too objective rather than diegetic, and i don't want it to feel like the character is telling a story to the reader
should i rewrite it and then continue or just continue with a storytelling gap
>>
>>3076920
I would rewrite it. My take is if it's important enough to have been written in the first place it's important enough to be rewritten. Depending on what it IS you could also reframe it as some sort of formal report that would make sense to be objective.
>>
>>3076920
I am taking a bath right now

I think you should try a rewrite, but keep the original a a reference while you keep a few things in mind:

How does your character think, act, and take in their surroundings? If they love to narrate, you can try to work it into their outward personality, as well. (How they speak to someone else, to themselves, etc.) For better or worse. See: Alex Yiik.

You can make the dialogue seem more diegetic simply by sprinkling their personality into everything they do. I do mean EVERYTHING. They are not only the narrator and, supposedly, protagonist, they are also possibly the only window into the world through which the reader can see.

Imagine I describe something in a glass. It tastes like a burning and overpoweringly thick orange liquid that smells much better than it tastes.

For this narrator, this is a terribly unpleasant concoction, but to a reader, it may simply be orange juice.
That is the window of first-person narration. Understanding and interacting with the world through the bias of another.

Use what you've already written to guide you as you write one bit at a time as a test. See if the way this person acts, reacts, thinks, and interacts with the world is the kind of narration AND narrator you want.

Try speaking the narration out loud, and see if it sounds awkward or like a retelling. Use spoken dialogue that seems a bit rough, personalized, or even grammatically incorrect to make it feel more natural, as long as it fits the narrator's personality.
>>
>>3076920
I fell into this trap as well once in that I had a more narrative introduction to the story I was making, had issues with it for a long time, and immediately after I rewrote that particular section EVERYTHING sounded better. Its longer, but having your character live out what events they go through even in chunks just gives so much more than just telling it like a story or summarizing. We're not doing this for money, so usually its worth it to rewrite, its not like you don't have the time.
>>

Linus' knitting skills are amazing! And extremely cute. Imagining him wearing his custom made knits warms my heart and soul. I want nothing more than for him to be able to be safe, cozy, and happy knitting away and playing video games and cooking with his human friend.
>With his arms held out straight behind his back
No way, was he naruto running? Kek that's amazing. I loved the bowling ball ref btw.
Cute what Linus put on his G325-R form. I wish I knew what he was thinking when he did that. Did he understand the significance? Maybe. What does he think about the idea of being family? Oh wait maybe we do know what he thinks!
>I don’t think I ever told him how proud I was.
Tell him, Michael! You gotta tell him!! For both of your sakes! (and mine!) Tell him before something bad happens and something bad WILL happen it's only a matter of time so tell him before you cant and regret not being able to tell him how you feel!!!
>drawing of expie expressions
If I could draw I'd draw this. Perhaps I could do something with those 3D models instead... The way he expresses himself by moving his head spikes is interesting and cute.
Poor Michael. He did some regrettable things in the past and know it's hanging over his head like a guillotines blade. That's how it is. You may be a nobody one day, then get famous and some poor decisions you made decades ago are dug up and put on full display in front of the entire world.
>"Did you kill someone?" Linus asked, visibly confused.
Worse than that.
I'm glad Linus got some more pettings.
Reading your fic is so stressful, it raises my heart rate and makes me tingle with nervous anxiety. I don't mean that in a bad or negative way at all, it's just we all know how people are and how the internet is and it makes me fear so much for Linus and Michael so badly. I'm so afraid of either of them getting hurt.

Spike movements is something I completely made up and if I'm going to be honest would probably only be as developed and standardized as I've written it by the time the Gunsaw war takes place (and even then only in long-isolated all-experiment societies), but I prefer to imagine sawians to be animalistic and alien.

>>
>>3084389
i wonder why voyagers worship humans and self-hate, when it ultimately makes no difference in the end
>>
>>3085285
Voyagers don't self hate.
They hate other species.
There's a gazillion reasons you could come up with as to why that is depending on just how sympathetic you want the voyagers to be to whoever is reading your fanfic.
For example:
1.They (and their cloaking devices) were simply designed that way as n-corp stealthy elite troops. Or maybe as a failed abominable attempt at getting there. Variations on this can include chonic schizophrenia/delusions of grandeur/inability to see any other sawian as anything but something in their uncanny valley.
2. They are completely correct that dunes are crazy and so is anyone who puts up with dunes, and also correct that given the chance velvets and ickes would kill everyone else, and just assume that every other species would be as competetive in a more natural state, thanks to actually learning about evolution but being given little lived experience with it.
3. They're just too assertive for those weaklings to handle the truths they tell! If you really want to piss someone off, describe an all-voyager town as peacful, clean, and prosperous. (this will please no one except an audience of voyagers)
4. dey hate demselfs fo bein so damn ugly mofo dayum look at dis dood and they projectin'
5. They're a symbolic representation of white supremacists. Just white supermacists. Racists of colour don't exist and if they did they wouldn't be a problem.
6. The caste system requires them to be racist, considering racism as a racial trait (it's not, they just thought it was because all the lab voyagers were racist).

And it would make a difference because "hey if we replaced all those weak experiments with voyagers, or those dumb oranges with voyagers, or those crazy velvets with voyagers, and just got rid of those freaking dunes and ickes, the combined peoples and army of the Principality of Sawia would be way much stronger and stand a better chance of winning the war when the humans come back? Well? Was't that the point, milky?"

Your purple pincushion paws forgot something important... Milkies outnumber you 10 to 1, and Expies 1000 to 1. If you really were as useful as you think other than as a vehicle so loyal there is no flight risk chance of you stealing their expensive cloaking devices why didn't they choose you as one of the two major template basis genetic donors? Why weren't your kind bred in the same number as milkies to do the tasks we do better than you? Face it, we're tougher, stronger, less agile, and much smarter than your kind.

I bet Michael and a milky could talk and explain and discuss and debate and argue endlessly until the milky got tired and had to take a nap. And then continue right where they left off after a quick snack.
>The Outbursts of Everett True
Based.
At this point you (the reader) know Linus well enough to know that his spikes had to have been spinning constantly this chapter. Poor expie, why do humans and their society have to be so endlessly confusing and complicated.

>CH14
>"Hey Linus. I've got a joke for you-"
Kek, nice one, Michael. I enjoyed Linus' reaction to cherry ice cream.
Oh my god, the question! THE question! The ultimate question! I love so much that Michael is someone Linus can receive affection and trusted wholehearted dependable support from, no matter what he chooses.
Very interesting and complicated problems. I'm reminded of anons discussions picrelated of a hypothetical ideal human-sawian society where both humans and sawians live together as tight-knit integrated multi-generational families in a heartwarmingly idealistic and utopian example of a mutually beneficial symbiotic joint-relationship of the two species. And also of anons discussing how unethical it would be to make short-lived sawians spend the majority of their short lives in public school. Horrible. They deserve better than that.
Michael immediately proceeding to do the math on populating the straight of hormuz with expies is amazing. I love this chud.
I so admire Michael. He's ready, willing, and eager to do anything and everything to make things right for Linus and his kind. I really do think he's the best human for Linus to have been found by, and that things have gone better so far than they ever possibly could have with anyone else.

I'd love to see Linus well-dressed and handsome in a button-down. (just ignore the cargo shorts and flipflops kek)
Linus' bizarre conception of how humans reproduce is intriguing. Michaels ideas of why he thinks that make sense, but what if that's actually just how humanity reproduces in the year 25XX? I admit my idea is far-fetched.
I enjoy Michael's rants. They're interesting. He's correct about creeps. It's tragic. With how pissed Linus got I admit I was hoping he'd intervene in Michael's self-hating ranting to tell him how much he appreciates him and everything he's done for him. I crave a good old sappy moment with the expie telling his jaded human how endlessly thankful and grateful he is for him. Maybe even some reverse petting. And Michael being like "wtf are you doing" but not saying anything and just letting his bioengineered mutant friend comfort him the only way he can think of how.
>"What if you first were spotted by a bunch of ghetto trash?"
I've thought about this. It's very bad.
I loved Linus' firm declaration of what he wants to do at the end. I'm not sure how to express it in more vibrant words, but it was like cool and inspiring and badass. And hopeful! So very inspiring of hope.

May they succeed. If not, may they live for love.
The furniture store approaches. My blood pressure rises.

No character is ever going to consider it because it's very, very dumb, even dumber than divine intervention.

...And trust me. He ain't the best person to have an expie show up at his door. I could name specific persons who'd give one more material wealth and a greater social network right off the bat.

Anyway, there might be something like that in this new chapter.

Ough. I don't blame you for panicking. The saligger was basically already inside your pod. Terrifying.
How many rifle magazines did you have? Just one? Let me check if that's enough to make a salad flee.
It is! One full rifle magazine is more than enough to damage a salad enough to make it flee.
So I suppose you could have just kept shooting it with your jam-o-matic and it would have fucked off, even if you only had a single magazine.
Your clips make me realize how incredibly useful it is to sleep in life pods in the jungle. If a salad appears while you're sleeping in a pod, you can instantly use the tough durable pod to your advantage to attack or flee from the salad. Compared to if you're unconscious out in the open where the fucker could just dig straight to you instantly.

Listen here you roadside popsicle cooler, voyagers do not "have to resort to blantant lies" because they make no objective statements that could be fallacious. Their whole gimmick is that they're rude, racist, and completely incapable of objective reasoning. A subjective statement, like calling a milky a "cumfur" or "useless", is not a fact.
>basing it's species' worth on being bred
It is an objective metric. Though context still matters.
Expies were mass produced as lab rats. Milkies were produced as assistants.
The argument is, if voyagers were useful for security and control, if they were stronger than the average sawian - why didn't the company make more of them? Why use human guards at all?

I really like how the story is starting to take shape.
The previous chapters did feel a bit drawn out. I understand that it was all in service of world building, but it felt like giving the reader a blank canvas with some paint and telling them "do it yourself". There wasn't enough of You in this writing - your vision and interests. The twin peaks theming was the only really distinct aspect I could pick up.
Lacey especially felt unfinished, but now I'm waiting with bated breath to see how her relationship with Eve and Anon will develop. I do hope they'll at least be friends by the end. Anon has burnt too many bridges already to also be cutting ties with Lacey. As well as what the notebook was about Someone was teaching handwriting, perhaps. It's a good thing the men in black didn't notice.
There are still some questions left unanswered The Father definitely knows some shit. I expect a Father vs Dick standoff. But, overall, it is now a much more pleasant experience to ruminate on it all.

Linus is an amazing craftsman. Craftsexpie. Craftsawian. His explanation of how he learned his skills is interesting. It makes the humans and humanity he knew seem alien. It's no wonder he's so confused by real human behavior and society. The complicated messy turbulence of the current day where things are probably less futuristically utopian than where he came from doesn't help either.
>"Linus...what makes an expie, a happy expie?"
That's a great question. And a sad one. My first thought was "Not being called up for Torture Nexus recharging duty." But then that just means it's someone elses turn to test the EXPIE EXCRUCIATOR 9000 and they might be someone you care about. I suppose every answer would boil down to "Whatever best distracts me from the horrors of my permanent prison from which there is no escape." Man, fuck GEC. Linus' reply was so cute. He's so precious and innocent. I want to protect his pure soul from the endless cruelty of the world so he can knit in peace.
>"I know, Mike."
Aww cute. That was a sweet moment with our duo.
Their discussions of Linus' future are fascinating. And so dauntingly complicated and difficult. But it will be worth it, all the blood, sweat, and tears shed. Because Linus and sawiankind deserve it.
>The biggest scam in the history of mankind
Huh, I didn't know that. Michael feeding Linus these redpills is cute and funny. It's pretty much what he's been doing ever since they met and it's great.
I liked that calm peaceful moment when Linus admired the beauty of the natural scenery around him. This peace is what all true warriors strive for.
Lovely campfire talk and heart-to-heart. The music was great too, kek.

It's awesome to point out how strong, determined, motivated, assertive, and driven Michael has become all because of Linus. If it weren't for Linus, Michael would still be a loner keeping his head down to avoid being noticed and hurt by anyone. I feel like Linus has brought out the best in Michael. It's amazing what the power of love can do to someone, isn't it? When I think of the daunting challenges facing them, my cowardly ass wants to give up before I've even started. But not Michael, it's like the overwhelming odds just make him even more driven to make things right for Linus. I admire that perseverance and determination to do what's right for Linus that he's had from the very moment he met him so much. He deserves it!

I think the best way to sum up how I feel about Michael is that Linus has sparked a blazing fire inside his human friend that will not allow itself to be snuffed out. A fire that went dark long ago but has been rekindled with new meaning and purpose. The inextinguishable fire of purpose and love for another, Linus, and the future of his kind. Because Linus deserves it. His people deserve it.

My god, Company employees are scary. Think of the kind of person you have to be to succeed and excel in such a place. It's not a place of honor, morality, or ethics. A place where execs call hits on their friends and rivals by using other divisions of the same Company. Ruthless and cutthroat, anything to get ahead or defend your position.
>"Three trips-"
Wow. I'm reacting not just to the number of trips, but what he did there. It hammers how fucked this Company is. It's great.
>"it reminds me of dust."
You sly dog, anon! Is that a reference to what I think it is?

Jesus fucking christ that was terrifying and horrifying and made my heart pound and adrenaline flow. Horrible. In other words, kudos to your writing, anon.

Awwwwwww. I sincerely hope he can.
BRIAN THE GOAT!!! Absolutely based old man, what a fucking bro. Wanna tattoo his name on my arm. Fucking legend.
L is terrifying too. I wonder if his kind are just like that or if that's what the GP and Company wetwork does to sawians. Probably both, when considering the other GP and wetwork veteran we just met. Mean psycho ruthless killer veteran sawians are fucking scary. I admit I was 'mirin his muscles. I like to think that you're inspired by the game where you can easily double and triple your starting STRength stats resulting in sawians getting fucking strong. It makes my awed reaction to the previous veterans three trips look like childs play in comparison.
I gotta know what Kaiden's going to do next. I wanna know what Plan B entails. When I read the first chapters you posted a month ago, I would have never expected the story to go this way. It's thrilling.

MP mod updated today. It fixes a bunch of issues like players not being able to see their own items or other players items when rejoining.
The KeepInventory mod has also been merged into the MP mod, so anons won't lose all their items and XP anymore!
Salad bite syncing is now clientside, instead of serverside. This means that salads should now only be able to bite you if their mouth touched you on (You)r screen, instead of the hosts. Or at least that's my understanding of the update.
Crafting no longer causes stutters. Spamcrafting bio-chem or water feels perfectly buttery smooth now, it feels amazing.

Anons and I tested it for a bit, there are issues.
Crafted recipes are not saved. This isn't gamebreaking or anything, but it means INTmaxxing is super easy because every time you load a save, all your crafted recipes are reset and you can get INT XP from crafting easy shit like ropes and canvas again.
A more problematic bug is that player damage from explosions now works on LOS with unlimited range. Dynamite will not hurt you at all even if your are right next to it as long as there is a single tile between you and the explosion. But worst of all is the unlimited range LOS for the damage, meaning that explosions will fuck you up from across the entire screen if you have unblocked LOS to the explosion. Basically, if any player has LOS with a landmine and you disarm it from a safe distance by shooting or activating it with a thrown item, it will blow everyone up and inflict full damage to them. Unless LOS with the landmine is blocked by a tile. Same with dynamite, grav-bag IEDs, and even kaizo stalactite explosions.

These following thoughts suddenly came to me this morning and I can't stop thinking about them and need to type them out. I like what I perceive as the theme of the concept of "humanity" in your story, or more specifically, humanity & inhumanity. Kaiden notes that the sawians retain a disturbing amount of humanity despite the animal DNA splicing, and he's right. Sawians possess humanity, for better and for worse. Allow me to explain.
Humanity and inhumanity. Inhumanity implies a lack of human traits, but the truth is that inhumanity is also human. There are humans that are kind, just, and good. There are also humans that are sadistic, psychopathic, and greedy backstabbing evil bastards. Good is a human trait, and so is evil.
Sawians are the same as us. They possess our same humanity and inhumanity. They've inherited our capabilities for both good and evil and the same reasons for doing those acts.
There are humans in Alba Longa who are shining examples of humanity, and others the terrible depths of inhumanity.
There are sawians in Alba Longa who are shining examples of humanity, and others the terrible depths of inhumanity.
Kaiden and Brian, and One and Two are examples of humanity in an inescapable subterranean corporate world of inhumanity. I know Kaiden has done his fair share of inhuman acts to sawians, but he at least still has the humanity to believe that they deserve better and to risk his life for them.
Thanks for reading my blog.

Very cute chapter. If I were 033, I would have roped.
It's funny how Grigga's willingness to gender sawians seems to grow as he loses the fear of thinking of them as real people, but his criteria for who gets what just seems bizarre to me. I understand he started thinking of 033 as a woman partially because of her (apparent) resemblance to his dog, but why would he almost instantly clock Sunshine as a fellow dude even though he looks and behaves much more stereotipically girly than 033 ever did? I know girls aren't supposed to poop and Sunshine pooped a lot but I don't think that's enough for an ultimatum.
Also Grigs touched some really strange places there, and Sunshine made some really stupid noises. I really hope he didn't accidentally give another Sawian their first orgasm. That would be bad, I think.

>>3102550
I'll start off by saying I'm not Whitecoats writefag. HOWEVER I see two main ways an outsider (i.e. one not acquainted with a specific Sawian) can gender them, considering their lack of secondary sex characteristics:
1. "They" or "it" until they speak, and then gendering them based off their masculine or feminine voice (which is personally what I use in my stories)
2. Mentally gendering Sawians as "he" or "she" (or "they") based on their subspecies. For extreme examples a Roza or Velvet can be considered as "she"s as a rebuttable presumption because, well nigga fucking read the Gunsaw descriptions and look at the Gunsaw art and you tell me.
Both of these can remain true whether you hew to the herm canon or not (although I will grant #2 is more likely if you are).

All sawians had the same health until now, right? I imagine this will greatly challenge Chik supremacy and massively strengthen Baronbros. Barons in singleplayer/co-op can eat full magazine dumps for breakfast and still have enough health to eat another without dying, they're fucking tanks. Baron players might BTFO everyone by just face tanking all damage and charging down their opponents and shooting them directly in the face until they die.
Like you know how scary and fatal it is to be charged by a Baron in singleplayer? I predict multiplayer Barons will be like that but even more terrifying and deadly.

In LevelEditor+, backups are saved in the game folder, kind of like autosave.txt

In mp, they're only created during collab editing in

Otherwise, I think it would really be cool to have Git for levels, where anyone could fork levels, rollback changes and submit pull requests

When you think about it, Kaizo's Layer 2 prepares you for Layer 9 of the full game.
It really stresses the point of the whole game: do NOT take leaps of faith and watch your step, and teaches you to navigate around lava pools.

Anyway, Kaizo lobby this weekend?
>>
>>3103071
Kaizo L2 is possibly harder than the actual lava layer actually. Being placed that far into the game damn it anon did you really have to spoil the layer number gives one plenty of time to prepare with titanium armor and neural booster (not to mention high RES and STR), so falling into a pool of magma and living to tell the tale might not be an impossibility.
Although this does sound a bit too easy so i hope there will be some enemies or other extra hazards in the real lava zone to spice things up and not make it a breeze.

What does kaizo layer 4 prepare you for?

>>3103119
I've always felt like the 1 hour per layer limit in the demo seemed too high. There are already anons complaining about having to redo all the basic suff on layer 1 and even those who try to get the big backpack on layer 1. The game is a lot more enjoyable if you spread these tasks over multiple layers.
But, at the same time it IS true that crafting most stuff is easier on layer 1 and the game's difficulty encourages - if not outright forces - you to get a good container, light source and health equipment early.
Layer 2 not having a lot of wood really hurts. Orson said that you should just use the wooden scraps recipe, but that's a shit ton of foliage especially when you need boards and sticks.
Also anon saying that the magma layer is on layer 9 comes from the demo's EN.json translation file.

Why did we stop doing reduced time limit runs? The 37(?) minute limit we settled on added pressure without feeling punishing. Plus it knocks nearly two hours off of a full run. We could start later to accommodate latejoiners.

>I've always felt like the 1 hour per layer limit in the demo seemed too high
I mean it does seem high when you've already got so many loops under your belt that you could speedrun the entire demo in that time without issue, but i think it's a good "normal mode" time limit. Try to remember your first few times reaching a new deepest layer you hadn't been to before. The 1 hour radline allows you to explore and be cautious, rushing into the unknown means death in this game. There's also the possibility that something could go wrong and force you to spend time recovering from injuries or looking for some specific resource to solve an issue. Even a very prepared player could be forced into this by sheer bad luck. I think 60 mins is a balanced enough time to allow for things other than a best-case-scenario smooth descent to be manageable should they happen.

In MP yes, i do understand that not everyone will have the time and energy to do a full-length run, so a lower time limit is totally understandable

Damn son you're on fire with these ideas!
>>
>>3104431
I care very little for the non-Expie species, so take this with a loads of grain of salt. Given your comparison to Little Shop of Horrors, I suspect you have three scenarios in mind: that somehow we'd see a Velvet become a Velvet; that the human is an audience stand-in getting involved with an already Velvet-y Velvet; or a mixture of both where the human gets involved with a very freshly made Velvet who doesn't yet know how to Velvet but is in her nature to do it anyway.

Right now maybe I'd go with the third option, but it also is highly dependent on the human character you have in mind. As for me, I'd put this story in one of the labs, so the Velvet isn't a chiché escapee, but sort of. Following some experiment-gone-wrong shenanigans, the human lead finds her snuck into his office, cowering in fear (self preservation is a bitch). You could spin this into a Chasma Couriers style whiteknight story, but what I think would be more interesting - and again going with your original inspiration - is to make HER corrupt HIM. First it's some meat gone missing... Then a dead body of an Expie or two, then maybe he'd arrange a test he knows will result in a fatality. And then it would be a live one. And in the climax, it would not just be a sawian.

Personally, I'd finish the story with them getting caught and executed together for their crimes, but it's probably not what people would want to see.
>>
>>3104491
I wonder how much of Sawian behavior is "in their nature," anyway. Things get muddy with them having human sapience, while being mixed with instinctual animals.

>>3104504
It's up for the writefag to decide,in my opinion. So long as it's fun, there would be no point in pedantry or a common denominator if they wanted to write a story that focuses on how the different species differ phiscally and mentally.

To be honest that's kind of pointless since Orson's canon is a moving target at best. And besides, most stories bend canon anyway. I sure as shit ain't gonna rewrite mine to fit whatever he decides is now canon. My Milkies will remain intelligent compared to the average human, for example.

You could always fluff the Velvet differently. It's not like every sawian is a perfect representation of their species archtype.

Rip the janitor, but he deserved it or something.
>>
>>3104611
That's pretty pessimistic, I say that people should just write what they want to. If it's still in-line with canon, cool. If it's no longer lore-accurate then it's a byproduct of its time and not an issue

Why is everyone so dramatic about it.
The EPDAs describing all the other sawians were removed, yes, but not because they're all being retconned. It's because none of them show up in the actual game. Both Milkies and Dunes now have their own EPDAs hinting at them because it's actually pertinent to the plot. Not everyone is a furfag deep in the fandom. Reading about a bunch of Donut Steele's that don't even show up in the game isn't good storytelling.

Orso's said that he views C:U as a prequel to his entire universe. The rest of the sawians will be explored when he remakes Gunsaw, which is his next project after C:U.
>>
>>3104704
>Why is everyone so dramatic about it.
I don't see anyone being dramatic about it, unless you mean disagreement is dramatic.
>Reading about a bunch of Donut Steele's that don't even show up in the game isn't good storytelling.
So while I don't really care about the removal of the E-PDAs about the other species (or any other removal for that matter), I feel obligated to mention your point here doesn't make sense. Pretty much every game with lore will mention things that don't appear in the game itself (like 90% of the books in Morrowind for example). And you could easily apply that logic to literally any background information about the Company unless it's directly connected with an in-game item. It's highly limiting and calling it bad storytelling is bizarre.
>>
Removed old post as I wrote it poorly. Wasn’t my intention to be so dramatic.

Meant it moreso as basing anything on our current knowledge of Sawians isn’t a great idea with the new information being so close to release. And it seems in particular that all that we know on Velvets isn’t going to be relevant anymore, so their very free to write for currently, hell, I don’t give a damn about the old lore of them anyway and wrote most of it out of my own story so I could write them in a more interesting light.

By all means, write what you want, I think the lore of cas:u offers an incredible amount of variety for storytelling.

I don't think you were being dramatic, I think your point was valid and in good faith - if someone wanted to create a story that's pretty closely based on the lore then waiting until the full release is probably a good idea. I just think most of us are already willing to bend canon (and even if you weren't, what was canon when a story was being created months ago probably won't be canon at release anyway).
>By all means, write what you want, I think the lore of cas:u offers an incredible amount of variety for storytelling.
You're very right there.
>>
>>3104738
I'm not saying background information is bad storytelling (but this could be an hour long debate if I wanted it to be,) I'm saying having two EPDAs that read like your deviant art character sheets is bad storytelling, *especially* when it has nothing to do with gameplay. I'm sure you could find some way to fit one or two into an EPDA to fill out the lore, but I just don't think it's terribly interesting compared to learning about the company itself. I think the new ones are much better and it's correct to save the details on the others when Gunsaw come out or maybe he adds more characters to the game.

>When the full game comes out will we be doing a full 1 hour per layer multiplayer sweep of the game on the weekend?
Yes. But I admit I want to play and beat the game first in singleplayer before hosting a mega marathon lobby.
>it could easily go all the way from morning to evening
It most definitely will last longer than 12 hours.
Because despite there only being 5 layers with an hour time limit for each, lobbies that descend all 5 layers take about 6 to 8 hours to complete. Because the radline adds an extra 20 minutes of playtime per layer plus all the breaks for players to make lemonade and stuff between layers.
So theoretically a full 11-layer run in the full game could take anywhere from 13 to 17 hours!!! Marathon shitbucket gaming. We'll have to make sure to stand up and walk around IRL to avoid any of us getting the Deep Vein Thrombosis moodle and dying IRL. By the end of it we'll be absolutely exhausted. Or at least I know I will be.

One interesting idea that comes to mind is making it into a Dexter-like crime drama so to speak.
The human, instead of suppressing the murderous instincts of his spider-wife, embraces them and drives them toward a direction of vigilante justice. Meals for Velvet-chan are from then on carefully selected among a wide range of dangerous and depraved criminals, and challenges arise as the couple struggles to keep themselves away from the prying eyes of the law.

The rocket launcher would be nice. Especially if you're lucky enough to ragdoll them into one of the burning fires that spawn which could inflict lots of damage. I think a sniper rifle can't kill them in one shot not even with a headshot but maybe you can blow their arms off and neuter them that way.
If you shoot them in the legs a lot you can cause a !Leg Injury! which mostly immobilizes them temporarily. Kind of like damaging the tracks of a tank which makes it easier to shoot and flank.

>The kind of thing that makes you want to hold them and never let go.
If only it could have gone on forever! That said, it lasted quite a while, well into the twilight hours. Fortunately, their warm body and thick fur kept both of you warm despite the cooling air of the autumnal nightfall. They cried for hours, sometimes softly, sometimes loudly, as a lifetime of repressed anger, fear, sadness and pain flowed from their aquamarine eyes. Every time you moved your hand or arm to stretch (or just improve circulation) they dug themselves a bit further into you, afraid that you were getting up and leaving them. Eventually, long past their usual bedtime, the tears ran dry. They fell asleep on your chest as you gently pet them, their soft paws resting lazily on your shoulders. Even by Milky standards, they were in an extremely vulnerable state, both physically and mentally. To allow themselves to fall asleep in your arms like that showed you that they trusted you utterly. Trust that you swore would never be broken.

Because while the sad truth is you can't save all of them, you can still save one.

>Ideally the next news report would be about everyone responsible getting the noose.
Unfortunately, this state doesn't do capital punishment. As it happens, though, on the way to trial the paddy wagon took a wrong turn and later turned up empty at the destination, the driver swearing he didn't know what happened. Some time afterwards the suspects' bodies were found in a remote area with blindfolds on and single bullet wounds to the back of the head. The DA declined to prosecute anyone for the crime, citing recent budget cuts and seeing it as "just another example of internecine gang warfare that has unfortunately become too common in our community".

I bet if you put a vase right in front of them, they'll eventually knock it over out of instinct.

Super sweet milky comforting and bonding, Anon. May all sawians have humans like (You) who will protect and hold them and make them feel happy, safe, and loved.

Kek it's so funny you say that because I was thinking of the exact same thing too. Thinking of some way that the gangers get lynched by the outraged public and everyone happily turns a blind eye to it.
