In TB, a low roll would still give you 1183/1200 speed or some shit. It shat out stats faster than Cygames knew it could shit out stats, so much so that it was almost impossible not to at least get perfectly acceptable stats. It basically gave you 1200/600/1000/600/1000 on all but a bottom 5% chance low roll. And frankly, if it didn't, you just don't know how to play the scenario and fuck you. I would still play MANT today and be much happier if it weren't for the increased stat caps.

A blue ball only pops when it feels like it. It could and often did show up on guts and if you didn’t pop it then, would just literally blue ball you by deciding it doesn’t want to pop. And you need the blue balls to get your teammates stats up, otherwise you’re more likely to lose the last race and get bricked unless you’re a front that doesn’t care about NSM. And it’s not even just popping blue balls, it’s about your teammates actually deciding they want to give you the special training instead of just doing the normal training constantly and never building up balls.
