DMM already by default selects your user folder as the installation path. So, I tried again to see if I by chance changed it, still nada. And that's been the default path since I last played it back then almost 7ish months ago and before I deleted the game and DMM. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Visual C++ runtime libraries (C++ v14 x64) many times.

I've gotten schizo troubleshooting this that I'm just trying random shit and see what sticks. I started assuming it might be a codec problem, because you can interact with the black screen and see blue sparkle effects; there's just no title screen/visuals on display. I downloaded LAVFilters and every imaginable codec to see what would happen [/spoiler]nothing of course. I don't see myself figuring out what's causing the issue without doing a complete system reset, and I'm leaning towards not doing that.

It's a common question. The answer is the annoying part. Unlike Brown Dust, we don't have an actual Global release. This means we ride on patched versions of the countries that do.
The upside is, they have actually intended to release this on Global for years and had a lot of the story in english among the files. So the translators took those and filled the gaps with MTL. But then after the West kept increasing pressure, the korean companies sealed off western access. So we need a VPN to start the game if you are playing on PC. I don't play on android but there are directions on discord there for that too.

The wiki, scroll down, join the discord. They will have a guide to set it up including the right folders. In PC, JP version, which I play I had to download the DMM program (same one you use for games like Monmusu TD) and install Last Origin, then go to 2 folders and overwrite corresponding files.
The upside is you only need the VPN until the game is launched, then you can close DMM and the VPN. Bad part is we need to turn up VPN every time we launch.
If you have questions or their reaction to them is just linking the guide, you can ask here for help. We get that this stuff is confusing.

Since it was a collab, the event happen simultaneous in the KR server and the JP server, all units are still available BUT the event wasn't permanent, at least in the JP server (because is the one i play) you can get them in the gacha pool since i think they got added as permanent characters if you are lucky enough or you just can buy them with tuna in the shop pic related

Since Events tend to have nodes you can farm those rarer units, though at the same time you'd want a fast clear to farm as much as possible.
Take for example Labiata: she is an unique model. You aren't ever getting another Labiata as they integrate the plot that nobody ever managed to replicate one. Using cores on her will never be a waste because she isn't getting a farming node.
Enrai on the other hand is a bioroid that on release did not have one and it took a long time for an event to have one. If you really wanted Enrai, core linking was your best bet.

Well frankly speaking it isn't like cores are that rare so there is no issue to go linking like crazy if you want.

Oh... yes, you do that. Most of the time. Back before having the Auto Mode we basically had some crucial units have a non-core linked version because it spent less resources. So a maxed powerhouse for Boss Stages and a weaker one for farming stages to run over the course of 3 hours.
Nowadays, the game records your fastest clear and doesn't care how it was done. So you can put something like a level 1 unit to run auto farming on a stage you cleared in like 30 seconds and she will reap all the benefits at minimum cost and no danger.
Therefore, there is little reason to keep a spare duplicate.

Everything is very farmable. Your best aoes for non farming setups are titania, wraithy, gamma, melite, and cyclops princess. Wraithy and titania are some of the fastest clears in the game, not counting brunhilde idle and Veronica suicide teams.

I spoke too soon and in the 2nd part of chapter 13 the White Stalker node blasted the bikini off my Labiata and sent her to the medical bay in a naked dogeza.

I can’t check the game right now but it could be something like elemental resistances (or weaknesses) and some passive they have. Though since you are early there I doubt it’s the latter.
You said “freeze” guys. The other anon said he was using the Sisterhood. Try to hold the mouse over tha tanky enemies, there should be 3 symbols there on their resistance indicating Cold, Shock or Heat. If I’m right they’d have some super high vulnerability to Heat since Ramiel is a nuke. It would explain why he was clearing the early stages with the sisters.

No idea on Brown Dust, but this game was built and then sold off by the people that then made Horizon Walker. That's why the KR fandom hates Horizon Walker so much as they are perceived as traitors. It's somewhat warranted because they really wanted to finish off Last Origin by killing the Commander at the end.
Frankly, I tried Horizon Walker and it didn't latch me on. It was funny and lewd sure but it lacked something, though I liked the Dungeon exploration and all.
Perhaps I'm more into bioroids because I love these kinds of settings involving androids like Megaman. I like the overall lore and the girls are pretty cure. It just has something I find in it I didn1t find in others.

Majority of the units are farmable, the few that aren't tend to get a node in an event (hence why people are autistic with min-maxing teambuilding).
You can Craft I think everyone aside select few collab units. Though in that case it would be the equivalent of the gacha.
The thing is building bioroids and farming bioroids, and building equipment all use the same 3 types of materials. None are premium currency.
The premium currency is Tuna Cans. Which are used for stuff like Slots (you have a limited number of slots available for bioroids and gears) and skins among other stuff. The game basically make money via skins.

Last Origin was really popular back then. I don't know the reason. I like the game, sure, but I don't really know why. It consistently topped DLsite charges and until 1 year ago still did. I think it may have been due to the situation, similar to how Blue Archive got so popular by standing out compared to so many games going dark and despair.
SmartJoy wanted to make a harem game in the future, they targeted people struggling at university life and start of work life, meant to profit from skins rather than summons to broaden the playerbase and have more that would spend less than few that spend a lot, and they managed to get a solid diehard playerbase. They got attention from popular writers like Tite Kubo and hired people like him on events once a while (iirc Kubo was in charge of Kheshig/Khan's event)
But SmartJoy didn't really care. In the end they wanted to move on to the next project. Not sure if LO didn't meet their intended levels or it was some sort of executive meddling from someone pissed off, could be either. You could see with the direction of the story, as in Chapter 6 or so they originally revealed the Commander was a brain in a Metal Parasyte and intended to eventually have Labiata kill him off. Which got met with a shitstorm and was redone.
SmartJoy then sold it to Studio Valkyrie, who were met with heavy criticism for mishandling it until artists and VAs were interviewed and explained it was much better. SmartJoy's handling was a mess and SV was left with a lot to deal with, taking months adapting but eventually changing all the opinions to it, fixing a lot of what was wrong including Labiata's handling by around the Orca Water Park. KR and JP got more unified in their events and the like too.
The next mess started in Blue Archive. Isakusan who left them convinced LINE to invest in his new vision but LINE was already indebted beforehand. StudioValkyrie that belongs to LINE then sells Last Origin to make up the money to-

Blue Archive was left with a vacuum, Last Origin had to deal with the abrupt change of management from Studio Valkyrie to Valofe, bullied Chaos Zero Nightmare writers were then hired into Blue Archive to fill the void etc.
Probably more, multiple gacha games in that time suffered long dry periods or subpar updates.

The point is, while Valofe is usually a maintenance mode graveyard, Last Origin likely wasn't one of those dying games. Rather than being sold because it was in its last legs, it was sold for a risky investment.
Considering the diehard fanbase, it probably met Valofe's quotas enough for them to actually properly manage this game rather than just ignoring it with the rest of life support ones in its roster.
