Mosquitoes and other annoying insects who depend on bodies of water for their life cycle might be an issue, although you can guard against them and mosquitoes in particular are more of a problem when camping next to lakes than creeks or rivers. The other big potential issue would be flooding from heavy rainfalls, naturally. But camping next to a creek isn't a problem in or of itself. You should try it out.
