Endfield like any other factorio sim, relies heavily on serial processing. You have machines depending on products from other machines, also production loops where end of chain products can get looped back to the inputs near the beginning (so if there's a clog everything goes down). Then you have mechanics like Pulse Width Modulator dynamically adjusting inputs and outputs. Since this kind of computing is inherently serial, calculating all of this 24/7 while players are offline is incredibly hard for the servers.That's why the devs took a small tradeoff, instead of calculating everything every 2 seconds (the actual tick rate of the factory), the server only updates it like once a minute. So while this cuts the server farm load by 30x, it also means that if you don't design your factory carefully to prevent clogging, things will desync and glitch out, which is why your entire supply chain suddenly collapses.AP on the other hand, just uses separate units to manage stuff that the server can track individually. That's literally just parallel processing, which is literally child's play for a server farm to handle. It's also a million times easier to code. This was the whole point of the original argument, there is no 24/7 factory computing in AP so it should be a much easier game to make. Then there's the instanced battles where AP is cutting corners which is a whole other can of worms, it's 2027 and an open world game is still using instanced dungeons right in the middle of the open map. LOL. LMAO even.
