The name doesn't follow latin grammar, but it's meant to evoke "prayer/call to the stars". Which is quite relevant given how much imagery and dialogue there has been about wishes/wishing on stars.

Shunin doesn't turn into a cat just being near magic or even when people try to kill him with it, it's because (You) are actually an isekaijin (hence thinking the Eiffel tower and Tokyo tower were built during their IRL years instead of the different timeline in AO), and thus is especially weak to magic because you come from a world where magic doesn't exist. You can still physically interact with the girls just fine. It wouldn't be possible for Doll to hug you while jumping out of a skyscraper if you just became a cat from being near magic entities.
