Rather than be two completely different species that are very similar but totally different.Sawk/ThrohOranguru/Passimian Volbeat/IllumiseSoldock/LunatonePinsir/Heracross (not a strict pair, but it works for both of them.)

Pre-evolution for Kangaskhan that can evolve into either Cubone or Kangaskhan. It evolves into Cubone instead of Kangaskhan if your party only consists of Pokemon that can evolve (no parents).
