i've never played a kanto game.i'm new to pokemon and have played gens 2-5, when picking my next game i had to finally decide whether to play FRLG or XY, i picked XYkanto now looks so bland and uninteresting after playing its predecessors that built up on it, and XY is already giving me a lite KANTOOO experience. when i shared this i got called "not a real pokemon fan"is there any point in touching a kanto game? why should i?

You can safely just skip it, all the pokemans games follow the same formula and Kanto gets shilled enough that you can get its pokemans in every other game. >>59293535>>59293553I'm a gen2fag, but I think you both should definitely play Kanto, yes its disgustingly shilled, but the actual interesting part of it are not shilled at all for some reason lol (we all know the reason, normalfags dont understand anything but blind nostalgia)I'll tell you some things I like about kanto in specific that other games either dont have or have less ofKanto:- very open worlded, Brock is obligatory but you can do gyms 3 to 6 in any order, maybe even more i just have bad memory, anyways its so fun being able to enter so many routes at once and pick the pokemon you like most, or like being able to do quests in any order you desire- Pollution and industrialization, the main appeal (to me) of Kanto as a region is how fucked it is, its like a complete and utter mess of pollution ruining the region (so many toxic types), there's the powerplant fucking shit up, and its all around a shady industrialized region, you can see this with team rocket as well, compared to Johto's (my favorite) old japan style, its quite a cool contrastRBY:- I like the glitches a lot, its very fun to play around in such a janky game- I like how unique it is that the special stat is merged, there is no special defense and special attack, its just one "special" stat, which changes a lot of things, like chansey being a great special attackerFRLG:- The sound track is cool and the sevii islands are one of a kind, they're never bringing that shit back or referencing it lol so go experience it when you have the timeI will always prefer gen 2 and gen 5, but the gen 1 games are absolutely worth playing, give it a try, dont let the old stupid useless uncs blind you with their useless nostalgia, pokemania is dead, it never was even a thing to be honest, but YOU can have fun with Kanto, its a great region

>>59293535you need to play red or blue, all the way through, just to experience it. it's a more traditional RPG than future games, which are somewhat in their own subgenre. and that includes FRLG. don't play FRLG. i also wouldn't recommend yellow as it's an anime tie in, not an improved third version.oh and the glitches are not that big a deal at all.

If you don't play them you're not a fake fan; playing every pokemon game because they're pokemon is cultish.If you're curious about them, check them out but it's fine if you skip them. There's a lot of interesting things but also a lot of clunk and things that later got a lot of qol over the years.
