There's alot I really, sincerely love about this series and alot I deeply, viscerally hate about it too. I guess that's why I'm so attracted to it, it's fascinating, frankly. most people are obsessed with the monster designs but I feel like the monster designs don't hold up the older I get and the more I explore character design in other franchises. 90% of Pokémon are moe blobslop meant to be mascots you can make merchanise of before all else but very few actually feel like monsters or animals that can actually exist and function which sucks dick because they retconned away the existence of animals so now I need to imagine a thing with no fingers or toes and a head bigger than its body existing in an ecosystem instead of just embracing that it's a monster>>59294119>>59293753this

I love the series up to a certain point, but we're at that point where there are as many bad games in the series as good ones, and gen 10 is going to tilt that scale in favor of bad.Personally I just play Gen 1-5 games and explore the spinoffs I missed while they were new. Even when they try to fuck up your memories of the good games (ORAS, BDSP) you can always come back to them

>>59293750I only like the games. I have no idea why kid me liked the show. (Indigo League.) I stopoed watching because of Tracey Sketchit and got back into it when Brock came back. May was okay, but Max was too annoying. I got Red as my 1st ever video game and did not know about gen 2 and never thought to ask for it. I didn't really ask for gifts for my birthday or Christmas. I did ask for Emerald. I really liked the gen 3 graphics and still prefer top down 2D over 2.5D and 3D for Pokemon games. The maps are my interest but also I like increasing level numbers and stat numbers. I tried to keep my team perfect balanced at first before realizing inthe 20s-30s levels how easy picking a couple pokemon to overlevel and steamroll was.I didn't want to ask for a DS because $$$. I quit Pokemon there at gen 3. Forgot about it until Pokemon Go and didn't play Go but got back into older games. JRose11 solo challenges and Hardcore Nuzlockes renewed my gameplay interest but I watch instead of play usually. I read most people like Pokemon designs or characters but for me it is now mostly the maps and numbers. I don't even care about battles that much other than it makes numbers go up.

When the glitch steps were about doing things in a certain order, I like the journey of finding secrets in glitches. Felt like I was pioneering areas I was not supposed to go too.
