Reminder that if you didn't experience Pokemania as it was happening you missed out on the franchise in its purest form and no amount of cope can change that.
I was there day1, I was the perfect age (10) when the Pokemon anime and Red/Blue came out. My closest friends all watched and played the games too. There was so much sense of wonder and adventure. I really felt like I could live in the Pokemon world and it was magnificent... The young really only have one thing over us.... Back then and going into the early 2000's, only boys liked Pokemon. I didn't meet a single girl who had any interest in Pokemon. "Girls liking Pokemon" wasn't a thing until much later. I never got to bond with a girl over Pokemon.
>>59302873>not posting his own copyYou weren't there.
>>59302873maybe I wasn't, no. But y'know what? that's okay c:I'm happy that I was born around the same time pokemon emerald came out. same year of creation, and I'm happy that I got to experience all of the hype and the excitement from gens 5-8, it was a nice time for me either way :3

>>59302873>bragging about being 40Nigga you should have a house and grandkids by now and here you are on a nostalgia bender over a children's cartoon from 30 years ago.

Please tell me what the actual benefits are to "experiencing the franchise in its purest form" vs today when I can play any Pokemon game at the press of a button and it has become socially acceptable on a planet wide scale to be obsessed with pokemon
>>59302873Pushing 50 sure is hard
I'm 42. Not only did I live through it, I was old enough to not in fact get invested in it the way kids introduced and born and reared into it since did and continue to do so, thus haven't tainted my appreciation of the games in and of themselves despite their historic shortcomings.
>>59303520Not OP but it's basically the mystique behind it. You will call it cope but it's the same thing as your grandparents getting a chocolate bar once in a while and getting overjoyed with it and you being able to buy one whenever you want and it's just "alright"Playing Pokémon while it's everywhere, internet being full of myths or tiny leaks from Japan, playing at the same time of the anime, shitty graphics on gameboy looking incredible for your young brain. It's a one of a kind experience. Most millenials obsessed with Pokémon are chasing that high, which is why they keep buying dogshit games hoping it gives them the same emotions as playing Gen 1 (and 2!) back then
>>59302873>Reminder that you’re not old and stuck in the past Thank god
