Did you see the pokemon fossils yet?
>>59304620That's real life, anon. There are no pokemon fossils in that museum. Pokemon aren't real
>>59304662>Pokemon aren't realLike affordable housing in the current year.
>Have you had sex with a real woman yet?No. Stop asking questions you already know the ananswer to
>>59304620>NoReally? Then you absolutely have to go!
Who the fuck invited Pikachu?
>>59304620>it's in Chicago>parents have made plans to go to Chicago and DC for the 4th of JulyDang, would it worth paying for admission to the museum for the exhibition and getting merch? Never been a fan of modern official Pokemon plush because of their questionable quality and how they don't really look like the mons
>>59305365>parentsUnderaged or just a (wo)manchild?
>>59305374NEET manchild (handsome)
>>59305380Sorry man I was just feeling mean. I’m also a manchild that lives with parents although not NEET anymore (used to)
>>59304620Satan hid fossils in the earth to deceive humanity.
>>59305385Most people on this site are so I could only imagine, but good for you, anon.So any votes on whether or not I should go? Would it be cool and worth seeing or would it be consoomer slop galore that I'd regret paying for?
>>59305401Probably just consoomer slop in my opinion looking at a bunch of statues but some people are into that
>>59305365>>59305401are tickets even available for those dates at this point? it is a separate paid add on just to go to the pokemon thing. Personally I thought it was cool, but I live close enough to go easily. The fossil statues were cool to look at and I did end up learning a bit about the actual fossils they're based on. Cool to see a full scale Tyrantrum fossil.I wish it was longer and had a bit more to see, especially since it didn't even cover all of the fossil pokemon (and several other ancient style pokemon). Its not like they ran out of material. I hope in the future they do more like this with the Field, especially since the Field has a lot of other types of exhibits that pokemon could make a reference to. The merch is ok. Overpriced and a little too childish in my opinion (even the adult fit clothing). They had the fossil model kits on day 0 but they sold out immediately day 1. You can get most of the merch online. The best parts of it all IMO were how they kept everything orderly. I did not once feel like manchildren were about to crush me to death for a promo card or pikachu toy. You have to get in line with your ticket QR at the specific time you selected to see the pokemon exhibit. You get a card when they scan you in. When you get to the end they print you a ticket to go to the merch shop. You cannot get in to buy merch without the ticket and the ticket also reserves you ONE (1) pikachu plush, which counts for your limit of five items TOTAL that you can buy. No fucking around, no moshpits etc. It was also cute to see a lot of people brought their favorite as a plush or small figure. I brought my Wooper plush and did not feel like a giant faggot. If your parents have whimsy in their souls they might enjoy the rest of the museum. Some cool exhibits. The coolest one is closed for renovations (ancient egypt). If you/your family are soulless materialistics you will be bored with both the exhibit and the museum as a whole.

>>59305481Thanks for the detailed insight from your trip, anon. I wasn’t expecting anything grand since it’s a collab, but to charge an additional entry fee for the exhibit on top of tickets to the museum itself? Not even the Met or Smithsonians have that kinda gall.I agree with you on the merch. If there’s anything that bothers me about TPCI’s products, it’s that they go with the most generic clothing and accessory designs humanly possible. Nothing stands out, looks particularly cool or unique, and you’re paying a premium for graphic tees that look like they took 5 minutes to design in Photoshop before being sent to the closest sweatshop to be made using the lowest grade fabrics and materials possible.Excavator Pika is cute but non-exclusive to the museum’s gift shop and nothing else stands out to me despite my love for fossilmons. They could’ve done better on the merch end. Thanks for saving me a trip and I hope you at least enjoyed yours. It seems like a cool thing to spend an afternoon browsing, but not with lackluster merch and hikeups on entry in my eyes.
>>59305365when did the romans invade chicago
>>59305912sovl
>>59305832I took a bunch but I never posted them because I do not want to spoil it on some friends who are going later next month. here is the tyrantrum just because I mentioned it. In the corner behind it they had a replica of the skull of Sue, their world-famous T-Rex, which you can see the real one of upstairs in its own hall. >>59305900I think additional exhibit fees for special exhibits is pretty typical. These kind of events have a lot of overhead costs to run and our museums are not as well off as they used to be. Personally I am glad they do because it cuts down on the people who would go over and over just to try to get the cards and merch to scalp. I just wish it were a little bit longer for the price. I am a Field Member, so I got to go for free twice, but there is no sense in being a field member if you aren't local and/or you don't visit a lot. That whole area has some of the best museums/science educational centers in the world so I am down there a lot. TPCI merch is extremely hit or miss to me. I wish they did more stuff that was in between "children" and "wealthy 40 year old autismo". If you play GO they have the area loaded with fossil mons and an exclusive pikachu, you don't need a ticket to get those, you just need to go near the museum. I think it was a cool event but I would not fly in from out of state just to see this or anything.
>>59305912>>59306045There was a period of time where the city was flourishing in much more interesting ways that encouraged people to build things like this. Between the great fire that leveled most of the city and the World's Faire, which had them building ridiculous things just for the fuck of it, we ended up with a lot of really cool structures and facilities. That area has the Field Museum, The Shedd Aquarium, the Adler Planetarium, and a short bus rid will get you to the Art Institute. All really old and sovlful buildings that have avoided most of the cringe modern reconstruction efforts that you see these days. I am hoping they do stuff with pokemon and the other museums. I would love a water pokemon exhibit at the aquarium or a space exhibit at the planetarium.
>>59306324What the fuck, that's actually quite impressive! Can you tell your friends to avoid this thread and post the other photos for us anyway? I'm never going there in person
>>59306340I can post more yeah. I can't post all of mine but I can do some highlights. personally my favorite part was how they had the pokemon artists draw the actual animals/dinosaurs in their style. Idk who exactly drew them but it was cool and funny to see the T Rex for example in the style.
>>59306361kabutops. I think this was my favorite of them. Such a classic fossil.
>>59306367I also really wish they sold little models of these fossils. They had kits of aerodactyl and tyrantrum but I want the little fossils and the amber you pull them from in the game.
>>59306374
>>59306384this is it for right now. I will go through a few more in a bit but I have to crop and downscale them each time.
>>59305394>Makes BILLIONS of years worth of lore for Gods worldbuilding projectGOATed assist from Lucisissy.
I'm a member of the Field, but I'm going to wait to see the Pokemon Exhibit since there's no rush due to it being around for a year. Thought it was cute how they created pokemon art of the curators for the exhibit though.>>59305900>but to charge an additional entry fee for the exhibit on top of tickets to the museum itself? That's standard for special or traveling exhibits since those require extra logistics and security because the pieces are usually on loan, along with the fact the revenue helps funds whatever research the museum is doing. And this was how things were even before the current anti intellectual movement that's gutted money going into science and education. Also I'm not joking about security. I remember when one of the few fossils of the Archaeopteryx was touring the world years ago at the Field before they go their own, and they had two armed security flanking it on either side.>>59306045Seeing shots like this reminds me of when LSD cut between the Shedd and Field before they redirected it to go around the west side of the Field to create the Museum Campus. And Miggs Field before Mayor Daiey had the runway bulldozed in the middle of the night in an absolutely alpha move.>>59305481>If your parents have whimsy in their souls they might enjoy the rest of the museum. Some cool exhibits. The coolest one is closed for renovations (ancient egypt).Ancient Egypt is the best, but I've grown to enjoy the Nature Walk because it was made before the internet and cable TV, so it was the only way to see some of the animals in the dioramas, especially in recreations of their natural habitats. Also like the Plants of the World area just because they haven't updated the aesthetics from when I was kid, also there's usually no one else there, so it's a nice place to relax with your own thoughts.
>>59305575I forgot immigrants don't believe in evolution lol
>>59306361>>59306367>>59306374>>59306384>>59306389Holy base, thank you! They should have done something like this a long time ago
>>59306555I like the nature walk too, though I prefer the Zoo or nature preserve boardwalk in that lincoln park area if I am looking for that kind of vibe. I really appreciate how old school most of the museum is. It is almost completely unchanged from when I was a child- just with some things moved around. The member preview day was really chill, though I am glad I got regular admission too since they did not give out the cards that day.
>>59306581Cute!Are museums dying? Seems kinda desperate for them to collab with Pokemon only now
Green and I should go visit this exhibit.
>>59306555Why is that guy about to kill that woman with a pickaxe on the right?
>>59306571>immigrantsMost flerfers are white trash evangelicucks though
>>59306595Infamous rivalry between the Fish and Reptile fossil teams.
>>59306592I mean generally yes we are diving headfirst into a seclusive and anti-education society due to many factors, but I don't think they are doing this pokemon thing now to combat that. I am pretty sure TPCI came up with this idea. Field just happens to be one of the biggest and best in america.
>>59306581There's always Lincoln Park zoo, but I was talking more about animals that they don't even have. It makes you appreciate how much we have. Either way, anyone going to Chicago should visit Lincoln Park Zoo, great location on the lake front, and still free.>>59306592Museums had it rough due to the rise of the internet, kids rather sticking to their phones, and how we're peaking with anti-intellectualism as a society but this is hardly the first of ti's kind, there was the Jurassic Park exhibit a few years back where they created faux Jurassic Park, complete with an Indominus Rex breaking loose and puppeteer Raptors.
So what about concerned moms who would never want to see their child bleed? Isn't bones and stuff offensive for them? And what about pokemon purists? They'd hate seeing bones as well, autistically screeching through the museum, there's either the fossil or the pokemon with skin and flesh and colors.
>>59306618what? The kid should learn about bones and stuff regardless because being stupid is the greatest health risk of all. How is the kid supposed to learn not to get hurt if they don't see that other things die when they get hurt? It's a stupid parenting concept at face value, but it doesn't really connect to an argument against taking your kid to see cartoon bones. Any parent who thinks like that wouldn't have let their kid touch pokemon to begin with. I grew up with some kids who couldn't play with us whenever we were doing pokemon stuff because their parents said it teaches us devil worshipping and false science. Pokemon purists would know that pokemon bones exist in the pokemon world since gen 1.
>>59306597Actually it's mostly brown people who believe in this and don't believe in evolution
>>59306592The Field Museum was always open to doing these sorts of things. Like in the 1990s there was the Horror movie called The Relic and both the museums in New York City and Washington DC turned down millions of dollars to film there, because they were both worried it would scare kids away and how the museum administrators were portrayed. Meanwhile The Field Museum jumped on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SU_ZshgGro

>>59306384Cool
>>59305365It’s a world class museum. There are dinosaurs and mummies there. It would be worth it without the silly pokemon exhibit.
>>59304620Are they out of promo cards? I wanted to get Green one of them.
