Its been a long time coming, but I think this is the one. The one we have been waiting for.

a pokegirl thread died for this

I'm still going to play it.
Shit on SV and even SwSh all you want but the QoL is leagues beyond previous gens and scratches my autistic need to collect things efficiently.
Overhyping it to be some masterpiece in the works is just a good way to disappoint yourself.
>>
>>59310841
All it needs is to be like SV but with Arceus catching and stealth mechanics. It's not that hard to pull off.

A single trailer mogs SV so much. If it has a bunch of qol improvements, a comfy tropical dex, and actual depth to its open world like areas and towns that actual fucking matter then it'll make me easily forget the last few shitty games. Also it has a comfy island aesthetic so it's already 1000x better than SV's ass school theme

Not sure yet.
All we get is one short video
Maybe if they have definitive gameplay video without "gamefootage not final"

No I think pokemon games have been a tech demo. Sw/Sh experimented with an open world safari zone. Arceus expanded on that. S/V had online play and different modes of travel. I think each game they're playtesting something new and maybe 6 games down the line we'll get a really good pokemon game, just not now.
>>
>>59310838
Romhacks and fangames have advanced to the point that we don't need gayfreak games anymore. All the new mons and quirky chungus characters will get sprited and added to 5+ publicly available resource packs within the first month of their reveal. There's no reason to pay $500 for a shitch 2 when f2p fan kino has surpassed the official games.

I kept hearing this "no dungeons!" meme for a few years until I played SV, then I realized the world map is actually a dungeon.
I'm not even joking, navigating unknown terrain is basically the dungeon crawling equivalent of the game, maybe it's not more complicated than a Mt Moon or Victory Road, but it sure beats a lot of latter dungeons/routes in gen6-8.

>>59311922
I think Pokemon's inherent premise makes open worlds more interesting.
You have nothing to do by exploring every nook and cranny in Far Cry or Horizon Zero Dawn, but Pokemon can offer Pokemon for catching. They just need to insert more secret mons that only spawn in a certain spot, or side-quests to get more mons.
Dunno why ScVi only had 3 in-game trades, I think they should have more in-game trade NPCs in general since it creates a vibe of side-quest and hunting for certain mons. Like hunting for a Pincurchin so you can get the Haunter trade which evolves to Gengar, that's a cool moment that could become a game-defininig trait.

>They just need to insert more secret mons that only spawn in a certain spot
The treasures were cool but just wasn't the same as finding them in hidden dungeons or secret spots.
Alternately, the terraleak did give me some cope that they'll have more focused areas in the world with specific mons like a Woobat tunnel or anthill full of Durants, etc. SV didn't have enough desu

Same
But it's not happening anytime soon. Or even at all. This shit will sell, and sell and sell because babies wanted "muh breath of the wild but Pokemon!" so TPCi and GF took that, tried with Sword and Shield as a beta then as a "full game" with SV and it proved they were never capable of that type of game or design. But it sold a fuck load of copies so in their minds, they take it as the fanbase wanting more of the open world slop formula. It's a cycle for nearly any AAA dev studio, sadly. MFW
Just play shit fan games

Nah, Pokemon was made for an open world format.
I want the feeling of running on top of my Arcanine, anytime anywhere. That feeling of adventure in the early anime of entering any crevice and encountering Pokemon.
Granted we're probably going to get that one scooter-like vehicle this time, but one day maybe they'll add rideable Pokemon like Let's Go in an open game.
>>
>>59312755
I wonder why they resist a lot to let you ride your own pokemon outisde of LGPE.
SWSH had the bike and SV only lets you ride the box legendaries.
Like, there are pokemon that were made to be a transport (lapras for example).
>But there are too many pokemons that could be transport, that woult took too much time for a mere indie company
They had the Dexit for a reason, so they can focus on implement correctly a certain number of pokemon. They don't have to make rideable every pokemon that is big enough. Just focus prioritize the ones that fit the most.
>But you would be dependant on those pokemon to move around, limiting your team choices
That was an issue since the first gens, and even then, they could just give a special non-pokemon dependant transport (just like SWSH), or rented pokemon (like SM), and make pokemon ridding an option if you get certain pokemon. You could just even have them like SM and associate certain pokemon with certain environment interactions that are optional and reward the player for finding and catching said rideable pokemon, as well as exploring ridding them. You can even lock certain pokemon mount functions to the main story to avoid sequence breaking if needed, just like your main transport.

Arceus and SV are impressive first attempts at open world Pokemon considering their simultaneous 3 year development, Switch hardware and covid. They are no Breath of the Wild but that game was 5 years in the making and didn't have considerations to make when it comes to inhereting features and content from previous entries.

>>59312826
Did you play Legends Arceus because that game kind of does what you are suggesting at the end.
>>
>>59310838

SS already happened.

>Pokemon was made for an open world format.
What the fuck is wrong with you people?
They keep trying to do it and it's always shit, I just want a decent adventure and riding my own Pokemon at this point, they won't give us either and open world will suck dick anyways.
>>
>>59312862
>They keep trying to do it and it's always shit,
shit how
>>
>>59312841
>Did you play Legends Arceus
Yes, the whole thing works basically like the rideable pokemon in SM.
I was thinking about ways to ride your OWN pokemon that you caught and can battle with.
The final idea I was talking about was, for example, don't being able to ride your own rideable swimming pokemon on water until you are allowed (and they gave you a special transport that you can use if you don't have rideable swimming pokemon on your team) or having a pokemon that could break rocks, not being able to do so until a certain point in the game but being able to ride it anyways before that point.

One day you will die.
And no one will remember you.

All things considered, my admittedly low expectations were very much surpassed when watching the trailer, but we all know it would be stupid to count our chickens before they hatch. We only know that the games look prettier, could still mean it is a pretty facade with zero depth, and knowing GameFreak I'm not getting my hopes up. But hey if it ends up better than SV I'll be happy, which honestly I would be shocked if it is somehow even worse.

Best start crying now then, we've known since teraleak the new Gen pairs are developed specifically with children and casualtards in mind (ie - it retains the historic turn-based battle system, to ensure shithead pre-teen kids can actually play and progress the games) while the Legends titles are the ones that attempt to change up the historic gameplay engines. That Champions ALSO retains the turn-based system is yet more evidence to it (because despite the Legends games being canonical entries to the series, neither's battle engines have been officially supported as "the" VGC engine, like the turn based engine continues to be presented as such).
I'll add - they outright cancelled remakes and rehashes, likely because they knew trying to re-sell the same game for $60/$70 was unrealistic (if you cunts cried at paying $60 for BDSP, imagine the blowback yis would have caused if you got asked to pay $60 for "Pokémon Spear", the rehash of SS that minorly changed the plot so Rose wasn't as retarded). But what's just as likely a factor was they didn't want to waste studio dev cycles making variations on a theme, like they were able to get away with on the potato handhelds of Nintendo' past. Now they release one turn-based game and one alt style battle engine game a Gen (with DLC and ILCA pulling remake duty, so expect BW remakes this coming Gen too) and also tweak the battle engine of the second release, to not be a slavish copy of the last release and to catch more of the kids graduating to teens and hoping to retain more of them in the playerbase (the protags of both Legends games being 15/16-ish)

What part of the trailer looking like Paldea 2.0 make you think so?
See that shore? You're going to run through it with your Rotom scooter catching anything that moves, grab a couple of TMs and leave never coming back (unless you're a shiny autist)

They're not dungeons bro
You don't go back to a hidden new area and find a rare pokemon and rare items and feel like you've found a cool amazing place and feel neat for remembering
You can run and fly everywhere nothing is rare at all
>>
>>59314357
Very rarely you found dungeons off the beaten path like Fuego Ironworks in DPP, you had some lairs for legendary Pokemon but that's it.
You have to genuinely pay attention to your screen playing ScVi because encountering Pokemon is a visual, visceral experience, and while the feel of gambling gacha Pokemon in the tall grass of older games is not there, there's definitively a new appeal in seeing a new Pokemon in the wild by yourself and going after it, it's way more visceral.

But my point is, navigating the terrain when you don't know it is genuinely more complicated than some traditional routes/dungeons in the older games. Well at least when you have to WALK. Like in the early game there's a certain path that connects to the olive farmlands and it's really easy to miss even when you look at the map, you have to genuinely understand the geometry of the terrain to get there and then you find some high-level pokemon which can easily beat your team. imo that's a cooler moment than going back in forth in tall grass of the older games.
The only thing I'm not a big fan is how trainers work now since you have to talk to them, there's an incentive because of the rewards in the Pokecenters, but I still wish trainers had a radius to start a battle, maybe they found it too complicated already with the player having to dodge wild pokemon.
