They put damage counters on pokemon, it's an effect of an attack.This is the biggest known card that uses the damage counter gimmick right now outside of dragapult.If there is text that says "place damage counters" it's not damage, nor damage from an attack. It's made to play around specific counters of certain pokemon essentially. The main idea is basically Terra pokemon are immune to bench damage. All of them. They have it as text at the top of the card. They prevent damage done to the card while they are on the bench.So when you play damage counters, it goes around that card text and allows you to hurt their bench. It's why dragapult ex is so popular.The problem is, the placement of damage counters is considered a card effect. So pokemon that are immune to card effects mean that damage never goes out. Cards like rocky fighting energy counter stuff like that.There is also the concept of shred. Since you're familiar with mega starmie EX, mega starmie's second attack is a shred attack which ignore things like crustle.

>>59319385The main decks playing it right now are Excadrill and as its own attacker, both using Metang. 160 isn't bad when Metang charges it easily and you have another benched so over half the meta can't even attack you. Genesect being able to constantly evolve your guys helps a lot too.

The rest is just bossing or killing whatever other 2 prizer he puts in front. It's a prize race, the one that can't keep up with it energywise loses. Moltres is also a great option for this matchup as it oneshots grasspon for one energy. I have found Munkis are useless for this matchup as raging will most likely oneshot anything and you don't really the extra damage anyway., don't clog your bench!
