Not mister Threadfic review but I'll do my best, I actually commented on some fics before but I got distracted by Touhou fics and THP stuff, as well as hand pain slowing down my writing, so stuff happened. Anyways, to be upfront, I wanted to like SELLOUTS but I ended up dropping it at 40K words. Although for the sake of my commentary I'll read chapter 5.I ended up really liking it, but in a way that hammered in my issues with the first four chapters and to be honest the thing that broke me about Chapter 4 is the realization I didn't care about the pokemon. Marractus took 40K words to appear and it took Angel similarly a long amount of time to get his starter, Trubbish. The pokemon seem barely a factor in the story before this, everything I liked before this had nothing to do with pokemon (Angel is really funny), and the MC has to be mine controlled into catching Marractus anyways by those annoying vague posters who exist in the story for some reason.To give you an image of what the first four chapters are like, our intrepid Isekaijin Andrew:>Get's isekaied>Kills an insane homeless man and is possessed>wanders around the desert>Has a lot of funny interactions with Angel >Kills a man out of convenience>Has a lot of funny interactions with Angel>Gets right back to where he fucking startedAnyways Chapter 5 is good.I wanted to like it, I really did, but I don't, the plot doesn't have a direct until chapter 4, I think the flashbacks are formatted horribly needlessly bloat chapters (Although they'd probably be fine if they were readable on a phone or computer screen), and it fails to make the pokemon element of the pokemon fic compelling until Chapter 5, 50K words in.Why does he have to complete a fucking round loop anyways! That conversation got me thinking, is it common to have the starter not work at first for an extended amount of time?An idea I was drafting, nothing novel just an OC going on her journey, has the MC's starter being a bad fit for her battle style. She's used to borrowing pokemon from her parents and using fast and aggressive status inflicting mons, but her starter is lazy and has little in the way of status moves.

Sonic's appeal is being cool, fast, and furry. Things that could be relatively difficult to pull off well in writing. Coolness is subjective and can probably be done well enough to the standards of any Sonic or Pokemon fan. Speed being translated to a pokemon fanfic would probably be a fun challenge, though I'd avoid a classic 'Journey' for an 'Adventure' instead. Probably would be Eggman pulling a Team Egg style attempt to capture a legendary pokemon. And furry is free real estate, though a big appeal of Sonic as a fandom is the ease that you can Donut Steel a fursona for yourself. So an Self Insert character might do well, but honestly without being able to customize one yourself it would probably be better to just leave it be Sonic himself as the MC.tldr; I have autism.
