Emerald was my first Pokemon game and I played all the games (except the GB games) up till BW2. When I finally tried Y, it just gave me a reminder of why I didn't played nu-pkmn in the first place. If I want to have more KANTOOO shit, then I could just play RBY. Which I did, and it didn't just stick to me, but I also tried Crystal, reading pokespe red, watching the first pokemon movie, reading the interviews from Tajiri himself, and the final nail in the coffin was checking out its pre-releases. So many cool mons got scrapped due to time constraints, and it had other cool ideas that were supposed to be used in the kitchen.I still like the games I've played so far (except XY) and still hold Emerald in my heart even with its goofy writing, but playing RBY/GSC just made me a closet genwunner.
Gen 1 and 2 are objectively the best Pokemon has to offer, not because of nostalgia, but because it was still Tajiri passion project
