Man, it's kinda crazy to think that the franchise is gonna be 30 years old and there still isn't a perfect way to play Kanto.>Red and Blue have a lot of charm but are egregiously buggy even by Pokemon standards (lots of elements not working as intended or not working at all- looking at you, Focus Energy) and the Pokemon sprites range from decent to offensively bad>Yellow improves the spritework a bit but is more an adaptation of the anime than its own thing>Fire Red and Leaf Green are massive improvements and overall still the best ways to play Kanto but do have some weird changes, like the region exclusivity and some features being axed>Let's Go! Pikachu/Eevee have some really cool features but are remakes of Yellow and are hamstrung by the Go catching systemDo you think we'll ever get a Kanto game that doesn't have a weird drawback?
>>59320444>Do you think we'll ever get a Kanto game that doesn't have a weird drawback?Stop buying games with weird drawbacks then. It's that simple, just hold those bucks off for once.Stop give them the comfort of not needing to try.
>>59320444>there still isn't a perfect way to play Kanto>Yellow exists.Wut?
>>59320444>muh bugs I didn't even know existed until I watched a youtube video
>>59320444I don't see any of these things as a drawback except for the Go catching mechanic. Sounds like a (You) problem.
>>59320444A FireRed romhack with the only changes being:>Now crossgen pokemon can evolve>Trade pokemon can evolve via Level upsand it's perfect.
>>59320444If none of the gazillion existing ways to play Kanto are good enough for you, maybe Kanto is just dogshit and not worth the obsessive wanking it receives solely for coming first.
>>59320444Your autism would find a weird drawback if the super perfect Kanto game released, so no.
>>59320444HGSS Kanto? It's imperfect but it has the day/night cycle and more contemporary mechanics.
>>59320444The best way to play Kanto is in GS.
>>59320444Just play Japanese Red/Green lmao
>>59321440You can do that with the Universal Pokemon Randomizer. You just tick those two options and don't change anything else.
>>59322013>say what is by far the worst version of Kanto is acksually da best4chinz contrarianism will never change
I'm not 5 years old or a faggot, so I've never played LGPE and can't reasonably give it a score, but Red and Blue are the definitive way to play through Kanto. FRLG are downgrades in almost every way:>artstyle sanitized>music made worse>no fun ways to break the game with bugs (beyond ACE which lmao)It's not totally irredeemable because it has the Vs Seeker and the Fame Checker, but an ideal Kanto game would have those two things and modern mechanics but with the Toriyama-knockoff art style that the original games had and a fully orchestrated soundtrack.
>Wahhh the remakes are not exploitably buggy, bitcrushed pieces of shit with ugly, blockly artsytlesThat atrocious pidgey sprite is enough to put RB in the shit
>>59322051>artstyle sanitizedI do like the janky ass sprites of JP Red/Green, don't care for Blue/Yellow since the enhanced sprites is a weird middle-ground.FRLG is not "sanitized" though, it just looks like a nice SNES-type RPG, evolving from 8bits to 16bits and having on-model Pokemon is not sanitizing it.>music made worseNah the remixes are good, the trainer battle goes from a sad track to a hype guitar.>no fun ways to break the game with bugs (beyond ACE which lmao)Bleh, only the Mew glitch or the Marowak skip are interesting to replicate in a normal playthrough (Mew is obvious why, and the Marowak glitch lets you do more stuff out of order), other than that all the glitches are just curiosities to see in a youtube compilation rather than trying by yourself.
Its okay cause I am making a rom hack of Emerald that's in Hoenn but with KAAAAAAAAAAAAANTO! Since we all knew Gamefreak made a mistake and clearly wanted to add more Kanto to Hoenn. Where you can only catch Kanto mons, tileset is changed, and we sacked that chubby Birch for the glorious Oak. We heard you loved Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanto so much we put it in your Hoenn.
