Instead going with old formula with Ash challenging the league while going to random places that extended the story, it's a original story following two characters trying to learn about an ancient hero and how the action of this hero is causing the issue that they are having to this day. They just finish their Rakua saga and now is on a laidback story trying to finish showing off the rest of Gen 9.

It's definitely an improvement overall. The timeskip has been mediocre but the 1st season in particular pulls off a coherent and cute formula. Also it has Meowscarada.

This will probably be the last season of Horizons. No, Liko and Roy can't stay as protags because their main mons are Paldean starters, and they need to shill Gen10, not Gen9 again. Also, they don't have any goals to justify keeping them as protags.
