another year, another record
just consoom
>>
>>59326604
is this because of people thinking pokemon cards are investments like goddamn
>>
>>59326604
this franchise was dead during gen six lol xy and gen six really flopped hard
>>
>>59326919
Don’t kid yourself, the revenues pooped off because of pokemon GO revitalized pokemaia, not because all of a sudden, Sun and Moon and all subsequent games were any good.
>>
>>59326941
Sun and moon was good
>>
>>59326919
yokai watch in japan outsold pokemon too both games and merch during that time too
>>
>>59326604
Surely that means Gen 10 will get a higher budget, right?
...right? Haha...
>>
>>59326604
>yen
jesus fuck, do Japs have no standards?
>>
>>59326951
I mean yea, I liked them more than XY, but I wouldn’t consider it any major leap in quality over gen 6, especially not any leap in quality that warrants such a rise in revenue. The ultra games were probably the best games of the 3D era though, I didn’t put the proper effort playing those the first time around.
>>
>>59326961
?
>>
>>59326961
When have japs ever had standards?

>I can't believe this company would measure its profits in its native currency
>>
>>59326604
Where did this massive surge of profit came from? Pokopia?
>>
>>59327379
Are you nuts? Pokopia didn't sell well at all
It's from the TCG
>>
>>59327379
AI has made it to where no one outside of Freddy Francesco can afford real hardware so first time console buyers are buying the Switch 1 en masse.
>>
>>59327397
Entire sales is from TCG?
>>
>>59327399
This is TPC, not Nintendo
They wouldn't benefit this much from Switch units being sold at all
Plus you're overestimating the amount of people that emulate the Switch, it's a very small niche
>>
>>59327404
No, the surge specifically is cause of the TCG
Most of the profits are from merch, we know this already anon
It's like 20% games, 10% anime, 70% merch
>>
>>59327415
I find it hard to believe Pokemon having such low sales from 2014 to 2021.
>>
>>59327413
Whenever normies buy a new Nintendo console, they always buy whatever the newest Pokemon game is, it's almost a ritual. Right now that's either SV or ZA. Said normies don't emulate at all because it's too complicated and illegal (they care about this sort of thing).
>>
>>59326604
Is this even real?
>>
>>59327440
That's because they didn't have low sales, they had low net profits. They've now reached a stage where income is FAR outstripping outgoings, so they're earning more profit year-on-year than the first 20-ish years of life.
>>
>>59326961
Currencies are all fake shit anyway none of it ever made sense to me

Are you saying the highest grossing franschise barely had any profit until 2022 ?
>>
>>59327538
Please learn to read the graph kid. The header claims "millions of Yen), the sidebar lists 20,000. 20,000 x 1,000,000 is 20,000,000,000 Yen. While they were making profit, they weren't making 20 billion yen profit back then
($125 million for reference), but because the most recent figures are so astronomically high as net profit (12B Yen), the earlier years end up as unimpressive in comparison (an unavoidable side-effect of keying the graph to the larger figures).
>>
>>59327586
Recent figures are 120B yen, sorry. Always hated maths, much less doing maths at half 11 at night.
>>
>>59327586
Are you saying recent Anime cause the merch sale to rise despite its low rating and viewership ?

Pokopia doesn’t count because it’s ftom this years in march, the report is from feb 2025 to feb 2026
>>
>>59327397
>Pokopia didn't sell well at all
Pokopia sold 4m since launch. That means it's outsold EVERY spin off title released but Pokémon Pinball and Pokémon Stadium International Version. In 3 months. It wasn't included in the profit figures as it was released after the cut-off date for the profit reports (every February), but that doesn't mean it's not completely kicking the shit out of TPC's entire history of offerings and gunning for Iwata's console battle sim and Nintendo's pokémon skinned pinball game. In fact, expect it to outsell both by next reporting window. Switch 2 only continues to sell.
>>
>>59327613
No, but they are not wasting money in the tranime, the anime has not budget, cheap animation, cheap voice actors, they canceled the movies too
>>
>>59327772
There is also Pokopia merch, I remember seeing Dito merch to promote Pokopia.
>>
>>59326604
>waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh
>>
>>59326617
A big chunk of it, which is funny considering TPCi clearly fucking hates the current state of the TCG and all the negative attention they're getting from it.
>>
>>59326919
it was a combination of the series stagnating, smartphones, yokai watch, and nintendo releasing flop consoles
i really wonder what a pokemon go-less world would look like, pokemon would probably still be doing better than ever just because of the switch effect, but still
>>
>>59327613
No. The global generation(s) that grew up playing Pokemon became independent consumers with strong brand loyalty. They acquired a purchasing power they did not have in the 2000s or even early 2010s, as well as a sentimental attachment to the brand. Observe how the Champion apparel brand got briefly revived a couple decades out from its last relevance: spending adults' childhood nostalgia.
>>
>>59326604
>>59327851
The graph tells the story of monetization.
The Pokemon Company has increasingly heavily monetized the brand in any area possible, essentially rivalling the level done during the first Pokemania, but without fanfare and headlines announcing it. Why? Because Pokemon has become embedded in the Earthling cultural DNA to such an extent that interest in Pokemon is an unspoken assumed default one deviates from, and its popularity and success and presence and ubiquity more or less expected or even welcomed rather than questioned or even acknowledged at all.
>>
>>59328420
Your first clause is bullshit and caused me to stop reading the whole post, considering the series is still stagnant and yet evidentally more profitable than ever. You need to do more thinking and come up with a more sensible narrative to believe in and propagate.
