Bad fast moves. None give enough energy to reach the charged attacks on a favorable time. You can check on PvPoke how even the cheapest moves still take 12+ turns. Mud Shot could fix it easily but who knows when it will be added.

The second disadvantage is the attack stat is too high while defense is low, making it frail in both GL and UL. The attack is also not high enough to compensate being a slow normal type on master, so it's only on master premier where Ursaluna can work for now.

Again Mud Shot could make it fast enough to actually keep up with the Pokemon there. It has higher attack than Ho-oh and could beat all the steel types plus Dawn Wings, Lunala, Zekrom, Reshiram, Yveltal with a bit of energy advantage, and have a decent battle against Zacian.

It's one move away from becoming relevant, but for now Tackle is the best it gets, and that's not good enough.

Let's say my team leads clodsire with lapras and furret in the back, and my opponent leads jellicent. Jellicent beats both my clodsire and lapras, especially if I allow it to survive until shields break. I really need furret to deal with it, but if I swap it in, my opponent gets to swap in knowing my furret is locked down now and can be taken out. So what do you do, just stick out the clodsire and allow it to lose so you can get furret in on a safe swap, and then hope whatever they swap to is punished by your remaining swap? I know part of this is a team building thing, I just don't really know how to be making good decisions

They used to actually be really good before everyone had the primal duo and Mega Rayquaza, but nowadays you're usually better off using one of those three in those nine types in raids respectively than anything else. I remember I used to hard-carry teams against Mega Lati@s with my Mega Altaria, because it was the only mega at the time that would boost dragon moves that could survive a few charge moves.

catching moves with mons that can spam cheap moves is crucial since you both nullify a move and pad the switch timer. i suggest after farming some energy for clodsire, switch to lapras to catch a surf. They both take 4 hexes to charge from 0 energy and surf is cheaper, so the jellicent will very likely try to hit clodsire with surf. clodsire is very tanky however, so you could comfortably take 1 surf so you can reach 100 energy before switching

Bubble and bulk are what helps azu succeed more than charged move pressure. although honestly whenever I see it it feels like I am going to get a free win as I dont ever build a team even by accident weak into it. It is definitely the best fantasy cup mon and in that cup whatever you run to counter it typically has so many checks or hard counters that azu is braindead to build around, my biggest success in that cup was leading shadow flygon to bait it out so i could destroy it with shadow magnezone, at least UL fc wont have it on literally every team
