people genuinely don't care about gmax, huh? Nobody cares about mons with distinct gmax forms and just wants them to get megas anyway 90% of the time. Right? Same with z-moves: nobody remembers nor cares what mons get unique z moves. And tera was such a hated mechanic that they didn't bother implementing unique tera mechanics outside of the ogre and the turtle.
Megas are the only gimmick that actually stuck at all.

I feel megas were the only gimmick that was designed to be a mainstay. The series was taken out of Masuda's hands and turned into a Yokai Watch parody before that happened though.

>inflation fetish, only lasted 3 turns, often weaker than than vanilla form of the gimmick
>gay dance and only one move
>sissy tiara
>Super Saiyan
Gee I wonder which one would appeal to people the most

It also became centralized pretty hard around weakness policy, flying and weather/terrain wars.

It wasn't a good mechanic and made the games worse for wear.

The fact that they are temporary and that every Pokemon can dynamax without having a unique form takes away a lot of the potential excitement around them

Megas are just itemless evolutions, so they don't really shake up the gameplay all that much. The fact that you need to use a Pokémon item's slot for the mega stone is in insight a very good way of keeping them balanced too. Even if a mega appears broken, not having access to choice items, leftovers or whatever else is a huge drawback.

All these others gimmicks meanwhile may enable some very broken bullshit because of how they work the same for every Pokémon, and naturally some Pokémon are better suited to abuse said gimmick.

Imagine if, instead of getting unique stats, a unique ability and a new type, all megas just got a flat +20 to every stat and the ability Beast Boost. This suddenly removes all the depth that each individual mega has, and on top of that it'll severely handicap certains Pokémon which do not have the right tools to make use of Beast Boost while others would be able to abuse the shit out of it. Megas might be more important this way but they'd also be super boring. That's basically how Dynamax and Terra work (z-moves sorta as well)

Speak for yourself. Z Moves are my favorite gimmick

but you must admit that you are one of only a handful of people who do like or even remember them.
