This thread is for a pokemon champions draft league as discussed in the pokemon champions general here >>59331134. >what is it8 players will take turns drafting a team of 10 pokemon from Regulation M-A, from which they will choose a team of 6 each round to play a closed sheet best of 3 against each other player, potentially a different 6 out of your 10 pokemon each week. The top 4 players will then play a finals series to determine the winner. For more information see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRckdx0fx8w>I want to play, what do i do?If you want to join just post in this thread with your pokemon champions screen name to register. When we have 8 players we will begin drafting some time next week after the first /pcg/ tournament.>Registration is fullThe draft league is quite long as there will be 7 season rounds and 3 finals rounds for top 4, meaning 10 weeks at least. If there are any drop outs half way through for whatever reason I plan to hopefully find anons in /pcg/ that can take over if needed. >Do i need pokemon champions to play? No, not necessarily since there's no reason i can think of why matches can't be played on pokemon showdown, but since its a pokemon champions tournament im guessing most players will want to play on champions.>How will we draft? Each player is given 50 points and will take turns in a snake draft picking pokemon with point values ranging from 1-10. Each player will have 24 hours to make a selection after which point if they still haven't selected for what ever reason, their pick will be skipped and will have to pick later, potentially missing what they wanted. You must not exceed 50 points and must draft 10 pokemon, meaning if you have 3 picks left and only 11 points, you cannot select a 10 point pokemon (as you would not have enough points to pick your remaining pokemon).
>I drafted pokemon "x" but i don't have it on champions.Hopefully shouldn't be too much of an issue, if this is the case, simply ask someone in /pcg/ to trade you the pokemon on HOME, even the exclusives such as mega floette and mega delphox shouldn't be too much issue in getting. You can also roll for non exclusives in game, the small pokemon pool and generous quick coupons dailies means its actually pretty easy to get the pokemon you want eventually. But do note it is your responsibility to make sure you get all your pokemon. If all else fails we can also play matches on showdown. After the draft each player will get a limited number of trades (say 5 for example). With those you may trade one of your selected pokemon for any pokemon that wasn't drafted, provided you don't exceed 50 points. These trades will have to last you the entire season so be very selective on when you use them, you won't get more! >I'm not good at team buildingNot to worry, i doubt anyone playing here is an expert either! You are somewhat encouraged to discuss and ask other players for teambuilding advice, just make sure you keep your ultimate decision to yourself so your opponent doesn't know all your cards before you play!>what time do we playSince you only need to be present for your own match, hopefully scheduling should be easier as all you need to do is find one timeslot that works for you and your opponent during a given week. It's my hope that for pairings in different timezones, at least one of the players has a free day on the weekend or w/e when they can play at a potentially unusual time if it comes to that.>I or my opponent are busy the week we playWe can postpone matches if we need to, but note that you may have to play multiple matches in a later week to catch up. Please do give advance warning if this is the case though, as otherwise it might result in forfeits to keep the league rolling.
>How are matches played? How is it scored?once you find a time that works for you and your opponent, bring your teams of 6 for that matchup and one of you makes a room in pokemon champions and posts it for the other. You then play a best of 3 and the winner will post the result in this thread. ie Chuck defeats Suck n Fuck 2-1. Ladder results will then be sorted based on series wins, total wins - losses, head to head results. In that order. If you have any questions or suggestions just ask. Pic related is the point values I plan to use for each pokemon in Champions regulation M-A. Each pokemons point value is determined by it's pokemon champions usage data. Be mindful that usage data in the full unrestricted meta game does not mean it will be strong or weak in draft. Your success will hinge on your ability to determine which pokemon are stronger than their point values, and your ability to get the most out of them. The conventional wisdom seems to be that the more versatile a pokemon is in the number of different builds or abilities it can be played with, the stronger it is for draft, so keep that in mind.
