>Mount Coronet edition

Discuss Trainer OCs and further your designs/writing behind them through discussion with others. Be cool, be cringy, be creative, be whatever, just don’t be an idiot. Trolls, spammers, gooners, pet rocks, and ERPers are not welcome.

>Thread Question:
Favorite Pokemon of your OC, and the reasons behind it?

>Drawing Task:
Draw your Trainer walking in a route, can be a forest, a cave, an abandoned building, ruins, etc.

>Writing Task:
Write a small anecdote in the POV of one of your OCs Pokemon, going through an adventure without their trainer.

I will take the opportunity to come up with proper names for Genes team, right now though I don't know what to take inspiration from for their names.... Eevee should probably be some random pet name like Vee, Fluff, or like.... I dont know, furball.

Fluffball? Veeball?...
Veebucks?
>>

Veeball is interesting me...
For Lucario I have been thinking Raul, Serperior makes me think something like... Gawain, because of Green knight, or Rein. For mimikyu...Tepu. Absol can just be called Omen and Crobat makes me feel..... Brian, just Brian.
Larvesta would be called Sol, and Charcadet I want to call it.... Cali, as in Caliburn.

Previously I had only told Bibianon and Zatchanon about this, but there was a basic synopsis for the final act of Grym Tales past the Vyce arc.

An advanced mutant Deoxys (referred to as AM-Deoxys) fell to earth, and began targeting the legendary Pokémon across each region by splitting itself into clones and having said clones infect the legendary Pokémon, turning them into hyper violent hybrids.

The idea was that while Grym and friends were trying to track down and stop the original AM-Deoxys, I would have encouraged others in the thread to "team-up" with another anon to fight against one of the infected legendaries. Sort of an "everyone bands together" deal.
The finale would have had everyone come together at the end to fight AM-Deoxys, whose chest crystal was in fact a megastone, causing AM-Deoxys to become Mega Deoxys.

This was something that actually came up in the super early days of the thread and nobody ever did anything with it afterwards. The one I came up originally for Alex was "Arashi Tanegashima" meaning "storm gun", written traditionally as "Tanegashima Arashi". In kanji this would be
>種子島・嵐
Because in Japan you write your names with the last written first because the culture emphasizes the ̶f̶a̶c̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶ ̶a̶ ̶b̶u̶n̶c̶h̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶s̶o̶u̶l̶l̶e̶s̶s̶ ̶c̶o̶l̶l̶e̶c̶t̶i̶v̶i̶s̶t̶ ̶b̶u̶g̶m̶e̶n̶ family lineage over the individual. I considered having Alex forsaken that naming convention in order to emphasize his personal focus on individuality and also because it rolls off the tongue in a Romanized brain ("storm gun" versus "gun storm" read literally), but I decided against it because it would be a grammatical, linguistic, and cultural anomaly, although he would still go by his first name Arashi regardless. The idea came from the fact that Wanderer had released around that time and that was what I named mine.

Free OC. The Turffield Gym Trainer Girl. I based this on the character models of the gym trainer girls of Hulbury and Circhester (of either game versions) + the face, clothing, and "personality" of the Gym Trainer Neesan from the Turffield Stadium.

Ok, I have to apologize to davidanon for taking me so long with the model, but the main problem I was facing is not being able to find a way to make the body into a musculous body or any attempt from making it to feel off until very recently, Here you can see the comparison between the old and the new one in 3 sides (new one is on the left, the old one is the right one, the bigger change was on the legs and a little bit in the arms).
Now with this done its just finding the correct clothes, I'm also sharing it in case you want to change something like the skin tone, the hair, the eyes or the shape of the body in some part, etc. And again, fucking sorry for taking so long.

I didnt see it but I heard from second hand, but yeah, aside from Pokopia there wasnt any Pokemon news.
I was genuinely surprised to see a remaster/expansion to Dragons dogma 2 since I thought it failed for the most part.
Seeing the Final fantasy gacha unchained from EoS status made me happy.
Some of my friends craved for KH4 news for YEARs so they were bouncing around the walls this direct, and seeing the trailer of the OOT remake made me icky since they seem to be going for a more realistic design and also the possibility that Nintendo might BotWify OOT, which feels like a sin.
Oh yeah, the Pokopia DLC looked nice being able to be underwater, but I'm curious what other lore implications will be in there or if It's going to be just a new environment for you to build.

New renders soon, writing up rules for the New /tog/ set

Regarding the set, here's a few notes.
>set is based around the Platinum/HGSS era of cards
>all Pokémon can be used, but there are no special types in this dex (ex, Prime, Tera, etc)
>NO AI card art allowed at all
>If you make a card, it'll be VEEY much appreciated if you also make the art for it
>please consider making at least one trainer card if you make a few cards!
Submissions and full rules open up next week, lasting until late August. Due to us being a lot lower in number, the expected booster total is likely around 70 cards.

The funny thing is, this guy used to use AI a lot for the music in his game (which has been in development hell), he just either caved to the pressure of Redditors seething about AI or decided to start an anti AI grift in order to attract attention from them and gain traction for his game. AI hate is copium from people who aren't skilled enough to be better than AI.

Don't be stupid. What I do here and with my game is seperate.
This is a community creative exercise, so we should be being CREATIVE. No AI for the artwork, otherwise that defeats the purpose of doing this in the first place.

If you're going to be an idiot, please put some effort into your posts. Thanks.

>AI hate is copium from people who aren't skilled enough to be better than AI
And imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness, but you'll probably need to have grok explain how these two points could be connected.
If I ran a mile in six minutes and someone says they can travel a mile in one minute using a car, what do you think the most likely response would be?
True, AI images are constantly being calibrated to be better than the hazy, eight-fingered sludge of 2021, but it's not 2021 anymore and the conversation has moved on since then.
What has always flown over your head since you first crawled out of the sewers like the little rat you are is that artists don't just make art, art makes the artist as it's being made. A real artist learns, grows, and improves organically. Artists communicate with each other and form communities that strive toward bettering their understanding of art. You don't understand that because the skill floor and skill ceiling of typing a prompt is shaped like an Oreo. If you give a master artist a piece of chalk and a cave wall, they could still create something meaningful. If some good samaritan confiscated your keyboard from you, what would you have left to work with?

This is why your thread's dead, btw.

You think the art is the finished image, but what matters most is that someone took the time, put in the effort, made the attempt to express themselves.
>Mad cause my TECHNOLOGY makes your effort less impressive?
Give me a break. Can't draw worth shit? Nobody could draw well from the start.
Unless you have Parkinson's, try.
Someone who wants to organize an art contest has a right to say "you need to be able to do more than act like an ideas guy for a computer."
There's nothing to be impressed with from someone whose claim to success is having an idea they can't act on. Yeah, a machine can travel faster than a marathon runner and sweat less too.
But that isn't the point, is it?
>>
Anyway, how was the first time your OC met their first Pokémon?
>>
>>59351279
>You think the art is the finished image, but what matters most is that someone took the time, put in the effort, made the attempt to express themselves.
Actually no, the only thing that has ever mattered and ever will matter is the finished image. I literally could not give even half of a rat's ass if someone put in "effort" o algo to make something if that something looks terrible, if it looks like shit than it is shit, simple as. That's apparently a concept too difficult to penetrate your homo habilis skull, however. I don't know why the hell I keep dignifying this copium with any form of response when it's the exact same thing from the every person I've seen who shits on AI.
Obviously everyone has to start somewhere, and that's fine. What's not fine is idiots parading around their Chris Chan ass artworks babbling about how it's better than le clanker because IT JUST IS OK. Now fuck off.
>>
>>59351342
Can you fucking stop replying to what he says? At this point its very clear he will always take the chance to bait you on your rants to derail the thread, same with glorifying AI art like that, we should be motivating others to work on their skills, not to denigrate them like you indirectly do.
>>
>>59351342
Shut up, alex. I don't care what you have to say.
>>
>>59351359
nta but skimming over the card stuffs in the mega and last thread the ai ban seems pretty dumb because barely people in the thread even use it and also there basically aren’t any ai cards already made either.

ai can’t even coherently generate any non popular mons so unless people are going to try to submit pikachus it doesn’t seem like it’s necessary to ban ai because nobody is even going to try to submit ai cards in the first place. this whole debate seems silly and feels like it’s just two guys with irreconcilable value systems going at it because they just enjoy arguing, it’s a waste of time
>>
>>59351288
>how was the first time your OC met their first Pokémon?
For Gene and Eevee, I have to imagine that he got it as a gift from his parents, being homeschooled I have to think that he was for the most part lonely, not being able to engage much with kids outside of any random party his parents held or any kind of activity they did outside, I could see Eevee being probably one of his first moments where he wanted to see the world outside.
Actually this got me in the mood to write something, I can make another short story of how Gene meet Eevee, I need to investigate what royalty/rich/upper echelon british families live like though, I don't know how exactly I can search for references in that regard.

I'm designing a caveman OC and was wondering if you think a white-furred ursaluna would be great as a fur headdress? Or would it be better to use a Beartic? DESU, Ursaluna is more ancient, but if Beartic fits better, I'll use that.
>>
>>59351466
Beartic. Ursaluna are dopey looking, while Beartic are fierce looking, and all the cavehoes will think the Beartic-killer is hot as fuck for slaying a fierce beast.
>>
>>59351464
True.
>>59351466
Definitely Beartic. Such an underused Pokémon.
>>
>>59351149
>Baxcalibur
I didnt knew that was a Pokemon. Aside from that, I respect the use of Lapras and Jynx in here.
>>59351466
Yeah probably your best option is Ursaluna if you want someone to be old, I do think maybe beartic is better, one thing I could suggest is maybe add mamoswine to the design too? You could probably use one of its tooths as a weapon or keep it as a chain. There is also tyrantrum, which you can probably use it as a makeshift helmet for him.
>>
>>59351466
Is this a serious prehistoric setting or a campy Flinstones type of deal? You should probably know that Ursaluna would be more common than Beartic unless you're in an tundra/mountain setting. Are you >>59351149

>>

>>59351503
>Yes.
Well Ursaluna is actually the much stronger beast in terms of stats, but I would assume you're not doing stats in your writing, so in that case Beartic is going to be more palatable to readers but Ursaluna isn't completely out of the question if it's some kind of mountain/Nordic forest area and not a hardcore arctic setting. In my opinion, however, Ursaluna's face actually sits better on the head and looks cooler because of the yellow circle in the center. You should probably consider how the hood is actually going to go over his head, if it's going to be the literal bear skin or just an inspired outfit, it's going to look differently if it just drapes over the head like a standalone pelt or if it's woven into a coat. This image isn't from Pokemon but it's something your post made me think of.
