>>59341130>>59341135I am more disappointed you guys would coom to a subpar minifigure such as this. This is stuff I would expect them to do back in the 2000s. As back then even SW got treatment like this. For them to do this in the big 26 to the most popular franchise is just retarded.
>>59341147Trying too hard larper.
>>59341128Reused hairpiece that looks nothing like her hairstyle; too intact cape; skin color could be a bit taner than Light Nougat, at least compared to official artworks.Legs seem to have side prints which is a nice detail (need more perspectives for better judgement though).Overall, could have been way better.Rayquaza looks great. Head shape may look a bit wonky, and they could have included straight tubes for more posability, but for a minifigure scale build with prints instead of stickers kinda sad this is a noteworthy detail with LEGO sets, especially at that pricepoint, it looks decent.
>>59341128Shoulda been Brendan or MayLego pokemon is so fucking cursed
Fug merch too strong
>>59341211I am a grown ass man so haven't touched lego in years but when did they move to the model plan thing? Back in the day lego sets were buildings with minifigures for you to play in with them. I was kinda hoping to see some of the game and anime characters as minifigures but given its only Zinnia and she looks like shit this is dissappointing.

>"Every time we speak with children and fans, what they want to be are Pokémon trainers," the LEGO Group’s Design Director Siddharth Muthyala told Polygon. "And then when you dive a little deeper into that, what does it mean to be a trainer? It's finding Pokémon, catching them, nurturing them, training them, and of course, you go into a battle with them.>"The intentionality goes so deep that we don't have any minifigures in the assortment because children are the trainers. So it's a Pokémon world you're entering and all the children out there in the world, they are the humans, they are the trainers who are catching these Pokémon, bonding with them and battling and training with them. So that was also a choice.">"There’s also the small matter of scale: pop a minifigure next to any of these brick-built Pokémon and you’re looking at a sort of inverse scenario where the animals send the humans into battle. Minifigure-first playsets would have been a completely different proposition, like an arena filled with minifigures and tiny moulded Pokémon, which might have looked neat on display but probably wouldn’t have been as much fun to play with."- Siddharth Muthyala, Product Lead and Interaction Designer

Distressing. It could have been utterly amazing, but instead they decided to pander to zoomie-dults and ruined what could have been a phenomenal Fug model. Roll on the Donkey Kong sets, I guess. This shit's done.

>>59341222>but when did they move to the model plan thing? Back in the day lego sets were buildings with minifigures for you to play in with themWhen they lost a raft of anti-monopoly lawsuits in the late 90's and early '00s and lost their patent hold on brick-based building systems. They still offer the generic shit they USED to do, but other companies are undercutting them by 75% on those geneibuckets (790 piece classic creative buckets cost €43, a chinesium rando 600 piece set costs €10), so Lego group made the decision to prioritise third party IP models and related shit (partly why they got the Pokémon licence - their premium rate for brick based models means Pokémon get a higher cut of profits vs megabrix priced Pokémon sets, not to mention the higher attach rate from people who never touched the chinesium chink brix shit, but WILL actually buy a lego set Right fucking here. At least when they don't do something as retarded as waste 3/4's the brick count on anything BUT the pokémon in the set.)
Nobody cares humanflopsin Pokemon characters no matter muh fanart they have, goodsmile dont make more pokemon figures and nendoroids, they sold like crap lol
>>59341310Could it be because the ganky shit they make just doesn't work for humans, or because "no-one buys it".I get not buying one rando piece of human merch (particularly when not directly produced by TPC) but when it's a case of "we want people interested in pokemon to buy our shit" instead of "we're offering a range of shit aimed directly at pokémon fans in our demographic", they're going to pitch at LCD. But that's why Lego are doing shit like minifigs, they don't expect casualniggers to buy the minifig sets (unless it's for their children. Side note, the adults sperging about smart brick ignore pokémon will normalise smart brick for kid's sets regardless what decrepit boomer retards think or say online), but know proper fans and their own minifig collectorniggers WILL buy it for reasons. Next time, just say what you mean - (You) don't care for humies in pogeymans. And are one irrelevant retard who's automatically been neutralised, due to at least 5 other people deciding on sight they need that set.
>>59341211Kinda tempted to get the Mewtwo one.looks kinda good and is also cheap compared to the other sets.
>>59341238The printed backpack is a red heh flag.

>>59341303>When they lost a raft of anti-monopoly lawsuits in the late 90's and early '00s and lost their patent hold on brick-based building systems. They still offer the generic shit they USED to do, but other companies are undercutting them by 75% on those geneibucketsIt's even funnier and sadder how despite having a patent related monopoly on their minifigure designs, they put minimum effort into them. Minifigures are essentially collectibles and one of the main appeals to buy expensive sets (like the CMF series). LEGO knows this, yet repeatedly puts out abysmal designs, which rival cheap AliExpress knock-offs. They either don't care or money is the main reason for making such poor decisions.

>>59341128do the FUGGED pose
>>59341128>ZinniaLiterally who?
>>59341580This is /vp/Maybe you got lost
>>59341227Well, that's a sensible way of justifying this way of doing it. Kids want to be the trainer themselves, that's the fantasy. When I was a kid, we played with the little Pokemon minifigures that came with the candy pokeballs or in separately sold sets, at the sandbox. We built battle arenas out of sand, placed the Pokemon figures there and then played out battles between the Pokemon. There wouldn't really have been a space for something like a trainer figure, because you, the kid playing, is the one 'giving commands'....So how do the kids of today play with these Lego sets, anyway? The end result of building one is kinda big and heavy, I'd imagine.
>>59341222Lego is now considered vintage collectibles not toys. I don't even see how kids could find the new sets fun. They are too complicated (some sets have 100s of pieces), too much brand licensing, the sets are way to expensive to buy to let a 5 year old destroy them. The pricing bubble on vintage Lego is obscene people are buying sets to have sealed product to sell in the future. It USED to be like proto Minecraft where kids could be creative and build a world but now its basically building display figures. The Lego botanical sets are pretty cool though
Why are adults seriously discussing LEGO? Grow up and move on to Gunpla or painting Warhammer 40k models.

i just want a hex maniac minifig. i dont care if it uses a generic hairpiece like https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=90396 or https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3361 in dark purple, a head such as https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3626pb2961, https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=973c101 for the torso (i couldnt find a better one in a better color), and https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3678b in dark purple for the dress bit.what, i know what i want. hell, stick her in a haunted house set and brickbuild a trevenant. posable AND spooky!

>>59344023>the most psychotic character gets to be the first mini figureThat's incorrect. The Fug set releases in the same wave as the giant Pokéball set (1st August) which is confirmed (via leaks) to include Red. Presumably also Prof. Oak and Blue, maybe Leaf as well. But it's surely a surprise that they went with a less known side character most people don't know about. Which implies other non-main characters have a chance to appear someday.>>59344060>Presumably the hairpiece was too hard?Limited budget or too much effort and you'll buy it anyway
>>59341128This is so depressing. Back in my day 1000+ pieces meant Hogwarts castle or the Millennium Falcon or some other grand epic set. I get that these are targeted at childless adults but still manchildren 20 years ago at least got to build cool shit.
>>59344136>1000+ pieces meant Hogwarts castle or the Millennium FalconThat's because the parts and sets were rougher and bigger back then. Nowadays, most parts are pretty tiny and special to smooth out sets which is one reason to not rely too much on the price/parts ratio
>>59341211LEGO autists, if a kid mixes up the little parts of multiple sets together, how the fuck they figure out how to build anything?

>>59344226>no cloth kamas, just two cheap rectangles that allude to one>said kama print is only on the front side, not on the sides LEGO would be able to, just didn't bother>no dual molded legs which would have been the best way to depict the two-colored legs as seen in the reference>LEGO cannot print between the minifig's knees and legs so the blue guy's gray boots print stops halfway through>red guy's chestplate and kneecap plates are the wrong colors (white instead of red) >blue guy's helmet pattern is one disconnected and erroneous mess>LEGO cannot print opaque white prints on strong colors like red, so they appear pinkish on the red guy>helmet holes which disfigure the clone helmet shape and causes the rangefinder to be attached too high>red guy's top helmet stripes are way too narrowKeep in mind that the blue guy was advertised as an anniversary minifigure and the red guy way paywalled behind an exclusive (= sold only at LEGO's = no good discounts) 150$ set.

>>59344364>LEGO cannot print between the minifig's knees and legs so the blue guy's gray boots print stops halfway through>red guy's chestplate and kneecap plates are the wrong colors (white instead of red) These I get but what's the point of collecting "character, but with lego aesthetics" if you aren't willing to put up with the limits of the lego aesthetics.
>>59344464>>59344498>>59344538>>59344551Fucking kekThat’s why I love you, you fuggers

>>59344797Because I know it's overpriced plastic and therefore not willing to pretend its some high-quality product (you know, LEGO!), when there's obviously no thought and effort put behind.Best examples are clone troopers again, which (for some reason) are highly sought after. LEGO absolutely knows this, but somehow repeatedly does its best to either do the bare minimum or somehow fuck up what's basically copy-pasting and recoloring the same design. How about we play a little game of "spot the difference"?top yellow-brown guy>The helmet "cheeks" are gray, instead of yellow.>The belt is white, while it should have been yellow.>The brown stripe on its helmet is too wide and not the correct referenced pattern. Identical to the blue guy's pattern.middle dark red guy>Same issues as in the last post (no cloth kama, no dual-molded legs, rectangles pretending to be a kama).>The belt is segmented as "I-I-I", where it should be "-I-I-". It might be a petty complaint, but it literally shows they even fail at copying the same design.bottom orange guy>Two words: Helmet. Triangle. With that, those "LEGO aesthetics" are hard to accept when LEGO itself doesn't bother to uphold these. Especially when Chinese bootlegs are more faithful to the source material than the company who worked with this licence for a couple decades now.
>>59345055You aren't actually addressing the point, you're just agreeing with the things I already agred with.
>>59345074Okay, then I'll try again. I don't consider the point with LEGO's inability of printing between legs and knees as an excuse, as they could have chosen a different approach (namely dual-molded legs) that neatly solves the issue while also keeping the LEGO aestethics. As for the second point with the washed out colors, well... that's where I draw the line. It does look really bad, and I'd prefer letting my inner child be happy about the decent looking but expensive figure, instead of having to gaslight myself the obvious flaws aren't there. Guess I'm not a real collector then. Although I usually don't consider the entire figure a failure except for Fox, he's abysmal, as there are still decent parts to appreciate. For example, the dual-molded helmet of the dark red clone trooper >>59345055 is well done. Despite this, I might still refrain from getting these, as you'd have to replace any part that looks awful with 3rd party replacements. Which ends up being more faithful to the original reference and also VERY expensive.Hope that answers your question.
