At which point in the franchise did you stop caring about mythicals?
Around gen 6, when they were just given to you as gifts, with no associated events or anything.
>>59345349Gen 4 for sure.>water Mew you need to play a shitty spinoff to get, and it has a useless gimp baby for some godforsaken reason>Darkrai is good, but artificially gated off considering that its counterpart Cresselia isn't mythical>a literal hedge hog, that's it until Platinum gives it wings, which isn't super amazing either>Arceus is cool, but makes Dialga and Palkia feel superfluousIt had way too many legendaries and way too many mythicals, and mythicals were always a bullshit concept in the first place.
Never cared they just only rare and stronger Pokemon
>>59345349Never did, not having them available in-game without a missable event until recently was some bullshit
>>59345349They screwed it up, the mythical concept should be simple:>1 per gen>Super rare, event only>Very strong BST and move pool>No other forms or evolutions>Mysterious or obscure lore
>>59345349gen 4being able to trade for them online ruined a lot of the mystique and they started filling it with garbage like shaymin which barely even seems like a mythical and feels more like a random midgame shitmon
>>59345349I never cared because they always released them in the most retarded way possible, or just not at all. Shit always annoyed me so much that I didn't even want them out of principle.Pecharunt was the first Mythical I cared about because THAT'S how it's supposed to be done. Integrated in the game story, has its own story event, and the event is easy to unlock. They finally figured it out. Now lets hope they'll stick with it.
>>59345349while gen 6 is where i lost interest entirely due to the lack of in-game events for the mythicals, i feel gen 4 was where things started to go off the rails. arceus and darkrai were fine, but shaymin, manaphy, and phione really could've just been legendaries or even normal pokemon.mythicals need a reason to be unobtainable under normal circumstances or they're just boring. like celebi can time travel, jirachi sleeps for a thousand years at a time, deoxys is from outer space, arceus is an avatar of literal god, etc. but what's so special about diancie, or zeraora, or volcanion? they're just padding with no justification for their unobtainability other than "lmao you can't get this because reasons."and that's why they don't matter, because they're both NOT special and also special enough that you're not allowed to do anything with them. you can't take them into VGC, you can't use them in the battle tower, you can't even have a cool moment catching one because they're just handed to you nowadays. you're never given a single chance to develop an attachment that makes them more than a participation award.
>>59345349based on this, I'd say they started going downhill around Gen 6
>>59345552>shaymin, manaphyevery gen has a Mew though. Granted this is the only one with 2
>>59346114They didn't think of any good reason why Shaymin or Manaphy couldn't appear in the game normally.
>>59346114nothing wrong with the obligatory cute mythical, they just stopped bothering to justify their rarity. shaymin is described as living in regular-ass flower patches, there's literally no reason for it to be a mythical and not just a regular encounter. same with manaphy, it's just a pokemon that's not often seen because it lives on the seafloor. which is cool, but we already have tons of deep-sea pokemon like chinchou or relicanth that don't get mythical status.mew has a slew of powers that make it hard to find, like turning into other pokemon and becoming invisible. celebi can time travel meaning you won't find it unless it wants you to. jirachi sleeps in a crystal shell for centuries at a time. these make sense as pokemon that are so rare they may as well not exist, but shaymin and manaphy just don't. and this pattern of filler mythicals continues through the following gens, with meloetta, diancie, zeraora, zarude, etc.even pecharunt is stupid, as its mythical classification is again purely arbitrary. there's literally nothing separating it from its three henchmen, it's just given mythical status in a vain attempt to get more people to care about the thing.
>>59346416Isn't Manaphy the Prince of the sea or something? Sounds like something there'd only be one of
>>59346457a title means nothing, goldeen of all things is known as the "water queen." and i don't think anyone is campaigning for goldeen to be a mythical.even if manaphy was a one-off, which it's explicitly NOT as it's the only mythical that can breed, there are endless legendaries that are also one-offs like groudon and kyogre, zekrom and reshiram, zygarde, etc. what's manaphy's special sauce that makes it mythical as opposed to just legendary? it has none.
>>59345349Gen 4. Id still get them for completionist sake, but they really did make me get and play through Ranger for Manaphy like it wasnt a retarded thing to do even as a 5th grader.
>>59345349i never cared about mythicals
>>59345349Gen 4 but I like Arceus very much so I will give it a pass.So gen 5, especially Keldeo is an eyesore.
>>59345349Around Gen 4 until 9. Pecharunt is the best Mythical to date and it's not close. Like it's funny how hard he mogs everyone else.
>>59345349I guess I liked most until zarude and zeraora.
>>59345475>Super rare, event onlyNah screw that. Stop selling incomplete games. Mythicals need to die out. Same as the two version garbage.
>>59349653Based bruh.
>>59349653Mythicals should be accessible to the player after completing that regions Pokedex.
>>59351241Yeah having a "final mission" unlock to catch the mythical mochi madness style would be great.
>>59345349Gen 5, easily. Not that they’re bad or anything, I just didn’t have the motivation to get them.>>59345450Nah, all of the gen 4 mythicals are cool. It helps that you could get a few of them in regular gameplay with other games or with glitches.
