I just finished BW for the first time and I’ve got some thoughts.

I think the good parts of this game start and end with the story, and even then it really only drew me in towards the end.

Unova as a region just isn’t very interesting. Aside from route 4, all the routes are identical to each other. I also get the complaint about linearity, and yeah it is pretty much a straight line, the only time you backtrack is after the 6th gym to chase after Ghetsis. The only memorable parts of the region were the Desert Resort and Pinwheel forest.

No real dungeon crawling to speak of. Victory Road was almost insultingly short.

Underwhelming box legendaries, and the game just handing you the legendary without any challenge is kinda lame even if it is for story purposes.

I wasn’t a huge fan of how the main plot of the game tied itself to the Pokemon league. Usually the evil team is defeated by the eighth gym, then you’re free to focus on the league challenge.

N as a character fell a little flat for me, I found Alder to be more interesting. Though I liked the part where N sperged out at Juniper over the Pokedex in chargestone cave.

The rivals were pretty good.

Kinda mixed on the new EXP system and unlimited TMs, it’s a nice QoL but it does casualize the RPG aspect.

Difficulty-wise, it felt like a step down from Platinum.

The game also felt pretty short. I spent 40ish hours beating Platinum just playing casually, I beat White in 20 playing at the same pace, and I don’t think it can all be chalked up to the slowness of gen 4.

Here’s my team.

A few other things:

The early wild Pokemon distribution is the absolute worst out of any game I’ve played. Nothing but fuckin Patrats and Lillipups until route 4.

Evolution levels being so high is annoying, but the lucky egg and scaling EXP system made it easier to grind.

Anywho, I’m gonna explore the postgame routes. After that I’m replaying Emerald, then trying BW2, I need a break from Unova.

Good post.
>>
>"hype"
People shat on gen 5 for being one of the worst gens until gens 8 and 9 came out. It was only after seeing how fucking bad the "online" of the most recent gens are, that people decided to look back at gen 5 more fondly and appreciatively.
>>
But but Gen 5 games are ate for mature people game like me!!

seething retard couldn't even write a coherent sentence
>>
Only larpers hate gen 5. I'm not kidding either. Larpers hate it
>>
It’s When Pokemon stopped being fun, making cringe drama stories, N is a retarded faggot

You can't be older than 20 if you really think that.
>>
>>59346923
What's stopping unlimited TM fags from just using it once? No self-control, just like their urge to shit post?
>>
>>59347064
I prefer the game enforcing it. Else I have to keep separate track of which tm:s I’ve used. It’s added hassle. Like if they removed set mode you could technically play on shift and say no every time they ask for a switch but that’s annoying.

As for why I want tm:s to be limited in the first place, distributing limited resources has more weight. Also places higher value on Pokémon’s natural learnset.

This is only for the main story though. Having to replay the game to get another copy of a tm in the postgame is absolute cancer. Once you’re in the hall of fame there should be a side quest to obtain the tm-recycler that lets you reuse tm:s infinitely, including the ones you already used.

Shadow Deoxys leveled Kalos and Unova for a reason
>>

>no berries
>no contests
>no following pokemon
No fun

BW has berries

Anon, everything is a step down in difficulty from Platinum because DPP are the consistently the "hardest" games in the series.
Dunno if you're sitll playing through each gen, but they simplify a lot of things and it gets even easier because they want even smartphone kids to be able to finish the game without getting stuck.
>>
>>59346923
It's overhyped in fact. It's a shit product with a fake deep story for edgy teenagers. BW2 on the other hand it's hyped for a very simple and shareable reason: it has a lot of content
>>
>>59347080
>Like if they removed set mode
They actually did later.
>>
>>59346923
Poor anon is still playing Pokemon expecting it to be some classic dungeon crawling like Etrian Odyssey.
>>
>>59348186
Too bad most of it is shit.
>>
>>59348186
>it has a lot of content
doesn’t even have more routes than XY btw
still has no battle frontier btw
still has no contests btw
still has no secret bases btw
still has no berry farming btw
still has no trainer customization btw
>>
>>59348210
That's subjective
>>59348222
Yeah, still it has a lot of content
>>
>>59348422
Just learn what an opinion is?
>>
>>59348473
I don't, BW told me the world is black or white.
>>
>>59348971
Yeah BW unironically, "insisted upon itself."
>>
>>59346940
People already started fellating gen5 during the latter half of gen6.
>>
>>59346923
At the end of day, it's just your opinion lol
>>
>>59351281
Yeah, and? He made no claim it wasn't his opinion.
