Kept my starter
>>Which PMD boss gave you the most trouble? What'd you do to finally win against them?
In both cases it was just brute-forcing, both with the luxios and dialga. kinda wish i knew more about items back then
>>What is your favorite PMD fan content?
it's a dead fanfic and it has yet to be topped
>>Do you think Fire Types are banned from certain places in the PMD world considering how many buildings seem to be built out of wood?
not really

>In rescue team, did you keep using your starter for the post-game, or did you use a different Pokémon?
I eventually end up pivoting to other a different Pokémon. Reasons being that I dislike how specially the hero gets the generic level up lines of their species, the fact that the way the game scales, you end up better off exploring with solo leader, and because this is the only game where you get to control the leader in the hub world. Explorers and DX don't let you at all outside of dungeon midpoints in the former, and in Gates and Super, it's relegated to side modes.
>Which PMD boss gave you the most trouble? What'd you do to finally win against them?
I'd say Mewtwo from PSMD. Understandably so, since it feels like it's meant to challenge you, given that there's no dungeon beforehand in which to stack up on emeras. The truth is that most PMD bosses can be easily cheesed trough items, and it's not until later games were bosses quick fast from status that they can really be a challenge.
What I did was exploit movement speed increases to get more actions trough the unison attack. What you do is: 1) Get your team's speed up to 4x. 2) Have your two teammates use a move, while you just spend an action moving with your leader (they can't act until the next turn) 3) With your remaining actions, walk up to the boss and use a unison attack. Your two teammates will join you in the attack, meaning they used two moves in 1 turn, and your total moves per turn goes from 3 to 5.
Also helps to use movement speed reduction on the boss, since this cuts their turns by half, which means they can only heal from it half as often as other status.
>What is your favorite PMD fan content?
The ocasional good rom hack, however rare they may be.
>Do you think Fire Types are banned from certain places in the PMD world considering how many buildings seem to be built out of wood?
Try to ban Charizard from your establishment and you'll be met with the Nintendo ninjas.

Took some testing and finding a small workaround but I got the starter mod and portrait mod to work. I just had to have the starter mod built without portrait patching enabled and had to make a separate build with just the portraits that I replaced with edited versions.

Then built it with those and copied the pokemon_graphic.bin that was in output/sdcard/luma/titles/game#/romfs into the romfs folder for the starter mod build and put that combined romfs into the sdcard/luma/titles/game#/->romfs put inside of the game# folder

it seems like it's working just fine though I haven't testing if the old modding stuff like pokemorph and itemizer stuff will work with this stuff

>In rescue team, did you keep using your starter for the post-game, or did you use a different Pokémon?
I used my starter and partner for a few things but used my favorite for the majority of it (Breloom)
>Which PMD boss gave you the most trouble? What'd you do to finally win against them?
I'm sure Cresselia eating all my reviver seeds gave me trouble but I don't particularly recall how I overcame that to beat Darkrai. I don't think Giratina's fight in EoS itself troubled me, but the world abyss dungeon was miserable to get through because of the earth power nidoqueens. I leveled up a flygon specifically for it due to levitate and it also getting earth power (and rock smash, for that sweet sweet lost loot). For Mewtwo in RTDX, I wound up making a specialized team to cheese it after a certain unfortunate loss involving a newly-recruited kirlia using heal pulse ON MEWTWO
>What is your favorite PMD fan content?
The drawings! One day I'll catch up on Clover Guild stories but visual mediums are my preference. I really like realSpaceJunk on deviantart.
>Do you think Fire Types are banned from certain places in the PMD world considering how many buildings seem to be built out of wood?
Not likely, I know the ashnime isn't relevant to PMD at all but the idea of a pokemon (like ponyta) being able to control the flames on its body to not hurt others is reasonably likely for PMD too.
>>
>>59350268
>after a certain unfortunate loss involving a newly-recruited kirlia using heal pulse ON MEWTWO
How? Mewtwo doesn't know hypnosis or any confusion inflicting moves? Did the Kirlia try to heal an ally trough Mewtwo? Or did Mewtwo pick up a Totter Seed that he then threw against the Kirlia, with the bad luck that she both used heal pulse and turned to face Mewtwo?
>>
>>59350363
>Did the Kirlia try to heal an ally through Mewtwo?
It did, the first time it didn't register it but soon I realized what had happened. I forgot I could simply dismiss it from the team but Mewtwo killed it for me anyway. I'm surprised the ai doesn' t check for if an enemy is standing between the user and the target

>"Oh no ! A game with a dark future is indeed pretty dark!!"
7S doesn't take place in the dark future
>>
>>59352586
a romhacks goodness can be roughly evaluated by taking the inverse of the max number of legendaries they have on screen at once.
>>
>>59352582
>"Oh no ! A game with a dark future is indeed pretty dark!!"
The hack sells itself as the events Grovyle and Dusknoir experienced before the main game. You'd expect it to fall in line with EoS in terms of tone if it's supposed to lead into it.
But instead, you get tonal whiplash from going from on screen grizzly death in "in a Dark Past" to characters bending over backwards to not say "kill", "die" or "death" in Explorers. Specially so because the Postgame dumps you through most of the vanilla game starting by Amp Plains and Special Episode 5 cutscenes, with the tone remaining the same as in vanilla.
>>
>>59352582
>"Oh no ! A game with a dark future is indeed pretty dark!!"
It can indeed be dark, but it is sadly also shit
>>
I know it's bait but it reminds me of how the dark future bit is like crack to dogshit writers. Fitting because it's some dogshit tonal whiplash in the base game to begin with.

I’ve written a new slice-of-life story. It’s called “The Home of the Brave”, and it’s about 8,400 words. This is an epilogue to “In Memoriam”, but I believe it can be understood without reading that one first. Thanks to Vaporeanon and Toge-anon for beta reading. I hope you all like it.

Additionally, I’d like to blogpost for a minute and announce that this is the final Clover Guild story I plan to write. I’m sorry to disappoint anyone who wanted more Team Brave fics, but I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and for multiple reasons, I’ve decided it’s best to start spending my time and effort on other things.

I’m not quitting the guild, though. I’ll continue hanging out here, and I look forward to seeing what new characters, stories, and art are created in the future. And there’s always the possibility that I’ll write new fics or finish some of my unpublished drafts at some point, but I can’t make any promises. In any case, I hope this story provides a decent sendoff to my characters.

It’s been lots of fun contributing to the guild and interacting with anons and guild members over the last three years. I’m incredibly grateful for the feedback and attention my work has received. I’ve learned many things, and my life is so much better because of this little group of PMD fans. I can’t thank you guys enough. Long live the Clover Guild.

This was great!! Not only does it give Team Brave a satisfying future, it feels like a genuine love letter to Clover Guild as a whole QuQ
I'm very happy that it's open enough for Team Brave to feature in future stories >u>!! And the number of thoughtful cameos is impressive! You weaved then together very nicely. I did, of course, quite like the 3 Strangers' parts. Cassie and Kiyo both feel perfect, I'm glad his and Booker's little friendship got to be mentioned ;)!! And Cassie calling Nira a pretty name is totally on brand.
beans inclusion made me a bit emotional, it almost felt like what I would want to say to you (the author !) after reading your final story. QuQ!! Maybe it's meant to be a more direct message to the reader, but it really kinda felt like reading my own words on the page, which is very on-brand for Bean -u-! There are many parts of this story that feel meta, or pointed to the group writing project as a whole, and that made it feel very much like a thank you letter... So I wanna thank you too for writing for CG! I've enjoyed your stuff since I joined, and i respect giving the characters a nice ending and moving on. However you decide to spend your time and effort going forward, I wish you luck with it :]!!!

The attached art by Ninetales seemed appropriate to post and it captures my feelings perfectly.

It's so sad to see that you'll be stepping away for writing for the Guild but I'm nonetheless so grateful you wrote at all. It was such an honor to have seen you progress in your writing so much and just as great to have had the privilege to have Team Brave be so integral to my own characters, especially considering that your stories were among the first I read in the full when I first joined and serve as (in my opinion) "essential readings" to whoever might be interested in joining this lovely little project. Writing beside you has been a blast.

While no doubt your Clover Guild stories will be dearly missed by most everyone in the thread, I look forward to whatever it is you make in the future, and I'm certain others will also. Fly high, little bug; you've earned it.

I can't make you write more, but I hope you'll come back and give Team Brave a new story or two someday. If it never happens, I hope that whatever creative stuff you plan on doing next will make you happy.

On a serious note, it could be cool if the next game (haha) has a cooking system of sorts where you are allowed to bring one dish into dungeon runs, with different effects depending on what you add to it.

Speaking of music, people usually credit Arata Iiyoshi for the entire soundtrack in Rescue and Explorers but I found out that a while ago someone made a doc with what info he knows about which composers did which tracks in Rescue and Explorers.

Most of it is guesswork or shit from undisclosed e-mail exchanges, but there are a couple of mildly interesting confirmations/deconfirmations based on tweets and one of the composer's website. Like how Keisuke Ito is the one who did the music for all the new dungeons in Sky and at least some of the dark future tracks, or how Craggy Coast was done by Hideki Sakamoto.

It has been a really long time, so forgive my lack of posting (laziness), but I'm here with a brand new story for you all.

Make Oneself, by skorupi-anon: https://rentry.org/zyig9thp ~12k words

Rather than get a job, Smith and Furret decide to embark on a completely normal and uneventful picnic outing.

This story takes place after Togetic's Fortunate Adventure, which you can read here (https://rentry.org/hwtpkipp) for some additional context.

I really hope you all enjoy this as much as I enjoyed writing it, ignoring the fact that it took a month and a half longer than necessary because I'm a lazy fucker. Feedback is appreciated as per usual.

Also, it pains me to say this, and you probably figured it for yourself by now, but I have to clarify that Descent Pt. 1 is unfortunately being discontinued. Among other things, I ran out of ideas and steam for that storyline, and I was feeling very dissatisfied with its WIP followup, so the story of Team MLG will be moving in a different direction from now on. Sorry to anybody who waited 3 years on that, only to receive nothing :(

I really wonder why games with multiple composers just don't list out which songs they did in the credits. I feel like composers would probably want to be properly credited instead of having the chance of accidently being credited with someone else's song when praised by fans.

Also surprised Arata only really does music for PMD, I assumed he worked on other MD games too but nope. Guess he just likes Pokemon.

So nice to see so many stories published in this thread! I'll do my due diligence and share some older, shorter stories. Originally I wasn't going to publish these since they're not the best but I think some decent Clover stories are better than none at all, so I decided to refine and touch them up slightly.

The first story, Mulch, is very short and set around when Team Eevee firsts joins the Clover Guild. Inspired by a shitpost from Espeanon.

The second story, Rivals, takes place well after my characters joined, namely after the Halloween Collab event. I should probably make a personal timeline at some point...

Hi! So glad you're thinking of joining! One of the easiest routes that puts you right into the middle of things is having your first story be one where your chars are introduced to the world/reader and where they either have motivations to join the Clover Guild or straight-up join. Some good examples in my opinion of characters joining while the Guild is already established are
A New Life as an Umbreon
>https://rentry.org/AdrianOrigin
and
Three Strangers Blow into Town/Three Strangers Sweep the Grounds
>https://rentry.org/kcb-0
and Team Kino Saved the Day
>https://rentry.org/TeamKino
and, finally, Saved
>https://rentry.org/tqb5q

A perfect example of a character already being in the Guild is with A maiden's quest for love... and paper.

Mind me asking, have you read much of the Clover Guild stories?

If you're the kind of guy who ditches the partner the first moment they are able to, Gholdengo's a good pick.
You get to murder him in cold blod and sell his body for a huge bunch of cash.
Or if you don't want to murder that piece of shit, take him to any dungeon kek shop and offer him to the shopkeeper. I'd love to see his idiot face unable to step out of the kek shop mat unless he's able to pay his own price in poke.

Good work. I didn’t notice any big typos. Characters’ personalities felt distinct and were portrayed well, and there were vivid depictions of physical behavior and actions, particularly from Wispy and Furret. Wispy was rather endearing and it was entertaining to see how he interacts with MLG. And in general, the writing was nice and descriptive.

The fight scene was mostly exciting and had some interesting moves, although I didn’t quite feel like the Heracross posed enough of a threat. The writing got a bit blunt sometimes, mainly whenever Furret abruptly got serious or when Wispy unsubtly showed some regret after trapping them. I did like the scene where Wispy was alone and feeling conflicted (his reactions mostly felt believable), but there was one point where he suddenly stopped crying for no reason, and another point where he suddenly became desperate to save them despite stating he’s okay with leaving them to die only a minute ago. Maybe it was meant to really emphasize his inner conflict, and I guess it makes some more sense after his backstory is revealed, but the shifts felt too abrupt at the time.

I also felt confused by some parts, like why Wispy traps them and mugs them when they had already offered to give him food for free. And when Furret references the forest fire, it’s written as if she’s unfamiliar with the entire incident, even though she knew about it in Toge’s story (which is a prequel to this). And it’s a weird decision to recruit a child into the guild--it’s really not an appropriate place for kids, and I imagine the PMD world would have some child labor laws in place.

All in all, it’s a pretty solid story. I remember liking your old work, and this one doesn’t disappoint either.

Thanks for the feedback bugbro.

>it’s a weird decision to recruit a child into the guild

I was conflicted on if it was a bad idea or not while I was writing this story, for that very reason, but I would like to believe it can work out. The main reason i made Wispy a Phantump is honestly just because i like it as a species (and because i figured i could do something interesting with the medicine leaves), and the reason i wrote him as being fairly young is because i have a really hard time imagining a Phantump as anything other than a child. But, there are works out there that I think make young characters work well in predominantly adult casts, and in serious, not-necessarily-child-friendly situations, so I will try to make it work in my future stories (which, spoiler alert: will likely not be taking place in the Guild, for the most part)

>The writing got a bit blunt sometimes

I was kinda worried about this as well, i'm sure there are parts that probably could have turned out better if I had spent extra time deliberating and editing them. I tried to avoid making scenes feel too mood-swingy and all over the place tonally and idk if i did that good of a job at it. (My cope is that i haven't written anything in a while so i'm rusty lol.) It could also be because i tried really hard to not second-guess myself while writing this, because that kind of self-doubt and constant suspicion that what i'm writing isn't good enough is a huge reason as to why I haven'tt written ANYTHING in years. It's okay to make it bad, as long as you make it exist, as they say, not that i'm implying I think the whole story is bad...

>when Furret references the forest fire, it’s written as if she’s unfamiliar with the entire incident

That's because i didn't fully reread Toges story and I forgot about that, lol. In this story it was just meant as small talk so it shouldn't be too huge a continuity error I hope.

Maybe, that's moreso for the Rescue Team special I feel like, considering there's a scene where the Squirtle falls into water and realizes that he's able to breathe and swim. They do the "seeing your own reflection in water" thing in the Explorers special, but the Piplup never actually enters water, so it could have worked with basically any Pokemon. My best guess is that it was a then-recent and highly promoted starter pokemon, and it's not a quadruped like Turtwig, meaning they could do more with it.

Wooper's a good recruit since it's among the first you have access to, it has a great IQ group, and it neutralizes explosions.

Literally anything with Earth Power is a good pick, since it's a highly accurate room attack.

It's gotta be Phanpy/Eevee. You must rely on Natural Gift Reviser/Reviver Seed for STAB, meaning no real hold item. Rollout sounds good, but it has HORRIBLE accuracy and will miss constantly and unlike other multihits, if the first hit misses, that's it.

Doesn't pickup just give the mon that has it a random drop in the dungeon, so item quality is based on the dungeon you're in?
>>
>>59401849
Yep, which actually helps a lot if you were to take 3 Pickup mons into Sky Tower in RT or Marine Resort in Sky. Since so many of the item spawns in both are gummies.

Whenever I see parasect I always just remember it's one of the few times I ever saw the damage number be red in PMD because of how much damage they take from fire attacks.
>>
>>59403196
I think my first time seeing red damage numbers was done against. In Zero Isle North, an enemy Blaziken that was damaged down to blaze range used a STAB Super Effective Blaze Burn on me that also landed a Critical Hit.

I just beat Red Rescue Team and was looking which Explorers game to play next. I was expecting Sky to be the obvious choice but, and I was told this, but Grovyle dies in Time/Darkness but apparently doesn't in Sky and things like that make me uninterested in Sky. Time might be better for a satisfying story and it was the one I grew up on.
>>
>>59403952
>spoiler
what???? who even told you that. it's completely untrue, play sky.
>>
>>59403956
I was told about special missions and how they basically exist to clarify things. I tried to avoid spoilers but I am worried that instead of clarifying they just mitigate the things that made the original games special. I can see myself playing Time first time and then replaying as Sky when I'm done revisiting or just first time Sky like you said.

You should probably just play Sky, it basically completely obsoletes T/D with its additional content and expanded story (whether that expanded story is for better or worse will be up to you). Nothing is cut from T/D going in to Sky, so it's not like you'll be missing out on or losing anything if you just play Sky. Not to say T/D are bad, but i think Sky is a very rare example of a remake/new edition of a game that completely, entirely obsoletes its originals and is objectively the definitive version. tldr; just play sky
>>
>>59403985
If the expanded story makes the game worse than the originals are superior to me because I play PMD for the story and the atmosphere, the gameplay actually having some challenge is just a bonus.
>>
>>59404008
Well if you want more information, without spoilers, most of the new story is extra backstory for various side characters, in the form of one-off episodes from their perspective (that's what the unlockable Special Episodes are). Several of them are quite good, one of them is pretty fucking trash in my opinion, and there is one that focuses more on Grovyle. Whether you like or dislike Grovyle's special episode, and whether you think it's a good or bad addition to the story is going to be up to your own interpretation. Now if you're so curious about the story, then quit asking questions and just go play the damn game and see the story for yourself, anon
>>
>>59404051
I'm going to chicken out and play Time first. Not only do I still have my cartridge but it was one of my favorite games I ever played. The last time I played it was in high school (ages ago) and I don't want any altered content to make me see the game unclearly.
>>
>>59404078
Suit yourself.
Also, if you ever die and need a rescue, post it in the thread, it keeps stuff alive, plus i'm capturing footage of Darkness on the side and could use some footage of friend rescues.
>>
>>59404085
That still works with the Nintendo DS or do you have to do some special shenanigans to get it working? I thought they shut down the servers.
>>
>>59404110
Rescue codes should still work, since they're not server-based. Not sure about other types.
(They actually work with romhacks too and cross vanilla/hack, in some cases.)
>>
>>59404110
Everything related to friend rescues can be done via password sharing, which you can easily just screenshot and post online. There were Nintendo Wi-Fi functions for friend rescues and wondermail too, which don't work after the wifi shutdown, unless you use Wiimmfi or something. Not much point considering passwords are so much easier to use, but whatever

Almost all of the expanded story, including all the expanded Grovyle shit you are afraid of, is entirely contained in Special Episodes that you have to go out of your way to access from the main menu.
If you are THAT worried about it ruining things, you can simply not play the special episodes and you will have the same story experience as Time/Darkness while not having to deal with bullshit like having to watch damage animations constantly while in Hail/Sandstorm.

The only reason I see to play Time/Darkness is that each has a list of exclusive items/TMs and the selection in one of them was considerably worse that the other, so that one is "harder". Don't remember which of the two it was, though.
>>
>>59404138
>>59404156
The ingenuity of the pre-Internet days is so fascinating. Now games just exist in broken states and f2p nonsense that means you own nothing but DS games mostly are void of these issues.
>>
>>59404188
It's Darkness. Darkness gets the absolute shit end of the stick in terms of version exclusive items and TMs when compared to Time. A list of great items only in Time include: Vile Seed, Foe-Hold Orb, Spurn Orb, Detect Band (!), Mobile Scarf (!), Tight Belt, Pass Scarf (!!!), Warp Scarf (!!!), Lockon Specs (!!!), Wide Slash (!!!), Blizzard (!!!), Dark Pulse, Recycle, Silver Wind (!!!)

For Darkness, you get... uhhh.... Water Pulse, Energy Ball, Shadow Ball, Sludge Bomb, Violent Seed, and then a bunch of dogshit. I can tell you from experience, Darkness is slightly more challenging, but it's still not really that bad, probably the hardest of all 3 though. And you can still use the Trade Items feature to get some of that really important stuff. The biggest consequences of items like Pass and Warp Scarf and Detect Band being gone is that you can't abuse them in ZIS, removing some of the most vital cheese strategies from it.
>>
>>59404188
>>59404239
Forgot to mention, Gummis aren't version exclusives per se, but certain Gummis are incredibly rare depending on the version, and will usually only spawn in specific endgame challenge dungeons, i.e. ZIN. No clue why, but it's a pain in the fucking ass, especially considering there's no Spinda's Cafe in T/D either, meaning gummi grinding is even more of a chore.
>>59404230
I think RTDX still uses passwords for rescues, although i haven't touched thatt game in years, and i never messed with friend rescues there. Super and especially Gates doing away with it is completely fucking retarded, Gates's Streetpass functionality is honestly one of the most egregiously stupid things about that game that I never see ANYONE mention. For context you have a mailbox at Paradise, and you put Reviver Seeds inside of it. That way, when you streetpass with someone who is currently awaiting a rescue, they will take one of the Reviver Seeds and be revived, allowing them to continue. Pretty sure that's the ONLY way friend rescues work in Gates btw. I get they were trying to utilize the 3DS's features but what the actual fuck were they thinking man.
>>
>>59404247
>I think RTDX still uses passwords for rescues, although i haven't touched that game in years,
I'm messing with the game right now. It feels simultaneously easier and harder than the original at the same time. Ganging up on bosses and recruiting is easier than ever, and items are more prominent. However, item management is much more serious than it ever has been and Apples are so much more important than they ever have been. I starved to death in Silent Chasm of all places.

I agree, and I mean it in a bad way. Dungeons feel like they are balanced around you amassing an army and completely steamrolling through, which means individual enemies are annoyingly powerful and even early in the game you can get blindsided and killed EXTREMELY quickly. Shoutouts to Electabuzz in Mt Thunder being LEVEL 30, despite you and your partner likely only being around level 15 or so at that point, or the Gravelers in Magma Cavern spamming Magnitude and Earthquake and killing you from offscreen, it's just annoying. Also, lots of agency has been removed from the player when it comes to controlling teammates. I guess the intent was to make the AI smarter and more independent (they admittedly are really fucking dumb in 2D entries) but it's to the point where they do very annoying stuff without you being able to stop them, i.e. they will always beeline towards any item and pick it up, clogging your inventory super quickly, and if you try to Set ammunition, your allies will SPAM it until all your rocks are gone, meaning you can't set ammo and must go into the menu to manually throw them every single time. I hate it, the older games had stupid AI, but it was AI that you had a fairly robust amount of control over, if you're willing to actually mess around with Tactics and IQ and do some experimenting. (I've been playing PMD since I was a very young kid so i've also gotten really good at working around the AI's flaws and predicting what actions they will take, so i'm biased.)

>I starved to death in Silent Chasm of all places.
The fact that Leaderswap is enabled during the main story, and that AI allies don't lose hunger when not in control, means that from what I remember, hunger is hardly an issue at all. If you get down to 1-2 hunger, just swap to an ally and BAM, you're back to full. It's insanely cheesy.

I have more gripes but im at text limit and dont feel like bitching
>>
>>59404247
>Super and especially Gates doing away with it is completely fucking retarded
Super did keep the rescue codes, alongside there being online services. Is a bit alward in that NA and EU coppies use different codes, but there are online tools nowadays that can conveert the format of one to the other. One thing about friend rescue that I preffer in Super over RT and Explorers is that you find the Pokémon of the player that fainted in the mission floor, instead of getting a flag tile you have to step on. Glad it was carried into DX too.

Super did also get a streetpass feature that didn't shit on friend rescue. You can select one of your recruits, alongside a message, and they'll be sent to the game of whoever you pass by, where they can randomly tag along their team for a few floor only if you're doing dungeons from Pelipper Island. (Which you might, since there's no "days off" shit there).
Kinna useless, but kinna fun.

I didn't know about the leadership thing removing hunger. I like difficult games but I think the army thing is really bizarre. I don't really like having more than 4 teammates because massive conga lines, while amusing, are difficult to manage.

I don't like having 3 pokemon with me at a time let alone 4. Some stupid faggot in the back always gets lost and it just takes more time and effort than just running in with the hero/partner. God forbid someone gets warped somewhere.

To me it has honestly felt like a 3 member team has been what Chunsoft considers the correct way to play. Considering that in RT, Super, and RTDX, you're not allowed to bring 4 mons into a dungeon, as well as the fact that in Explorers, certain entrances to rooms that involve hallways and water, your 4th member can easily get stuck and separated, the fact that all NPC teams consist of 3 members at most (If you want to count the Team Go-Getters anime special, that's another instance of a team of 3) it really feels like a team of 3 is intended, if that makes sense.
My point is, if that's the case, it's extremely strange how RTDX lets you create an army of like 7-8 Pokemon, and doing so is so strong that you'd be stupid not to do it. Just one of many things that turns me off of RTDX despite me really wanting to enjoy it.

It feels clunky and kind of absurd, but honestly it uses such amount of items and they're so squishy that it seems weirdly balanced as well. It feels the proper amount of difficulty but I'm not the biggest fan of just how much of a departure it is from the classic PMD route.
>>
>>59404188
I get what you're saying. I can (mostly) just skip the scenes I'm not entirely sure of until after I wish to view them. If I wasn't a complete sperg and hesitant of change you offer a good choice though I know there are very minor small differences even outside of that and so I'm just going to preserve it. I'll likely replay it in Sky or watch the special missions on a separate video if there isn't any huge gameplay related context I'm missing out on.

>>59405442
I think a 3 member team is a good number, IQ Groups in Explorers definitely go a long way to promote you having a varied team, especially considering IQ Groups like G mean AI teammates can do a lot better of a job at having an actually useful support role, plus it helps a lot of Pokemon stand out from each other, so now the 100 different near-identical water types are somewhat distinct. It's nice because you still CAN run solo in Explorers if you want, but running a team is also a viable option. The only downside is that gummimaxxing in Explorers takes fucking forever compared to RT because they fixed the quirk of gummis giving extra IQ points to dual types
>>

Playing Pokemon Mystery Dungeon has made me realize that this series has the best ost and nothing even comes close. It manages to make you feel all the necessary somber emotions while never getting rid of the overall cheery tone that defines the games. I can't listen to any other video game soundtrack anymore.

I don't see it happening anytime soon, and even if it does it will likely be just a remake of Explorers as opposed to an actual new game.

Pokopia was 10 GBs on launch. They are pushing this stuff for the same reason Sony is removing physical discs. I just continue to pray Pokemon Mystery Dungeon's hands stay far away from the monstrosity that is modern gaming. I don't like how they handled Explorers of Sky (I still don't have it for this reason) but I'll take that over what's happening now.
