nobody argues bug types aren't cool, bugs have always been cool. scyther is basically green charizard with swords, that's fucking awesome. what people hate is that it feels like shit to use bug types because they're weak to half the type chart and their STAB moves thud off everything under the sun, plus everything that could ever want their best move gets it so there isn't ever much of a reason to use them to begin with. get it twisted, it sucks to be a bug, bugs don't suck.

im pretty sure it's our resident OneGuy™ sperging out about that most of the time, most sane people would agree a lot of the types that resist bug really doesn't need to resist bug, and the chief offender honestly is fairy because that was an active choice to kick bug while it was obviously already down. i don't think fairy, flying, or poison should resist bug at least poison admittedly only because it was originally weak to bug otherwise it kinda makes sense, maybe not even fighting although i can kind of see a few lines logic that would make that one make sense - enhanced reflexes, clear mind and environmental awareness, that kind of kung fu bullshit. one thing i will say is it's weird as hell rock and ice of all things don't resist it, of all the random shit on the type chart THAT almost makes less sense than the things that DO resist it. our favorite universal hater can ragebait about it all he wants and people will always reply because /vp/ is underage and autistic, but bug and ice specifically have some really fucked up weird type interactions that ought to be addressed at some point, "meant to be bad" be damned.
