Did Pokemon slowly replace firearms in the Pokemon universe?
>>
>>59353089
Pokemon are immune to bullets.
>>
>>59353094
Steel types, maybe. And others like Ghost or Fire may be immune.
But the rest? They are eating lead.
>>
>>59353108
Try shooting a boulder with a gun
>>
>>59353094
they're magic bullets
>>
>>59353089
Of all the franchises to get away with, I think Pokemon has the right to.
The appeal has always been it's a modern fantasy world and humanity having living weapons and as few being weapons themselves makes the world cooler
>>
>>59353175
It's a Steel attack, I think it'll be fine. Rock is weak to Steel.

Pokemon became the guns.

In the end pokemon are more dangerous than any gun could be anyway.
Guns would not exist in the Pokeverse because Pokemon already exist so this was a necessary change.
>>
>>59353227
>In the end pokemon are more dangerous than any gun could be anyway.
In the time it takes you to pick a Pokémon, take its Pokéball off your belt, push the button to enlarge it and throw it, someone could shoot you in the head at least three times. People in the Pokémon world are EXPECTING you to challenge them to a Pokémon battle, they aren't expecting you to just pull an Indiana Jones on them.
>>
>>59353314
which is why like at least a good chunk of the time people have their pokemon follow them now
what, you thought it was because they're just adorable little companions? no it's so even a fucking growlithe can body check you with extremespeed before you even reach for the small iron on your hip
>>
>>59353314
>Pidgey uses quick attack!
And now you're dead before you can take out your gun. I fucking hate Americans and their obsession with guns.
>>
>>59353320
>>59353350
Sniper rifles. Doesn't matter if you're a Pokémon trainer, a wizard, or a kid who shouts a magic word to become a superhero if someone headshots you before you even realize that you're in danger.
>>
>>59353376
>future sight
Yeah, pokemon accounts for that. Get psychiced gun nerd.
>>
>>59353314
>reach your gun
>psychic type melts your brain
So you people even think for more than 2 seconds or do you just say the first shit that comes to mind?
>>
>>59353381
You have to actually order the Pokémon to use Future Sight and why would you do that when you have no reason to believe you're in danger?
>>59353384
Second verse, same as the first. Any defence mechanism that requires you to consciously activate it is useless if someone kills you before you even realize that you need to active it.
>>
>>59353388
*that you need to activate it

Technology is superior that's why nets and pokeballs and electrified cages work. Pokemon are consistently shown jobbing to human tech which was invented to tame and control them just like regular wild animals. Hell all it took to nearly kill god was one medieval guy with a bucket of mercury.
>>
>>59353388
There are Pokemon owned by people who know the future.
Never mind shoot a gun, it would be near impossible to even obtain one within this universe.

Our playground rules end in Xatu.
>>
>>59353408
>There are Pokemon owned by people who know the future.
Knowing the future doesn't mean you can change it. Remember what happened to poor Oedipus.
>>
Humans are simply more durable in the Pokemon world. Look at their feats. Team Rocket gets blown up and sent thousands of feet into the sky and they brush it off like nothing. A bullet would just bounce off Ash's skin.
>>
>>59353423
It means the entire function of the culture would no longer evolve around firearms or ballistics and who has stronger variants of them.

Pokémon fundamentally alter how society, security, warfare, and crime would develop.
Guns wouldn’t exist because Pokémon in the end are just more efficient guns and bombs.

Even if guns existed, they are far too many Pokémon around. The same argument you have for a gun can be made with a Pokémon. “Hey X bullet punch Y through his temple” long before you are even aware and can take out your gun.
>>
>>59353439
Here's what you do. You invite the target to a fancy meal, you ply them with good food and wine, and then, when they're drunk and in a food coma, that's when you kill them. And before you ask "why not just poison their food", well, you never know when you'll need a mouthful yourself.

Yes, that is a weapon far more powerful than any Pokémon on earth.
Heaven piercers are possible in these universes, because the only weapons left people will build within a universe of poke-guns are those with absolutely absurdly high MEE level destructive powers.

I think a huge missed opportunity was Officer Jenny's gun; it could have worked as a temporary capture device, like in Pokémon Ranger, to get assistance from wild Pokémon, or it could have been used as a capture system for Pokémon used by criminals, a way to "disarm" them.

Or if that was too exaggerated, her gun shoots sedatives instead of bullets.
>>
>>59353976
Another idea I have is that instead of bullets, she could have small Poké Balls that could contain an encapsulated move (like Fireblast, Solar Beam, Thunder, Spore). Jenny would have a limited number of these "bullets," so she would have to use them wisely.

This is based on the Maam Gun system from Dragon Quest, where spells could be charged into the bullets of her magic gun.

This idea was already used in Pokémon Reburst, except that in this manga they used Pokémon trapped in crystals as an energy source for their weapons.
>>
>>59354002
>Pokémon Reburst
The henchmen use energy guns, without specifying which Pokémon they use.
>>
>>59354028
But others use weapons directly powered by the power of certain Pokémon, like this first "boss" who uses the energy of fire-type Pokémon to power up his mace.
>>
>>59353089

The second AU movie, also Ash's epilogue series has a dude with a mecha gauntlet like Hunter J that can petrify SO at least in the Ashnime verse they're still a thing, no idea about Horizons having that kind of stuff

Pokémon have been shown to be conscious and aware of their surroundings even while in their Pokéballs. What are you going to do when the Steelix of the trainer you're trying to mug instantly pops out of its ball and lunges at you?

An Officer Jenny was able to detain a poacher in the anime by having her Growlithe catch the ball before the poacher was able to call his Tyranitar, which would have gone downhill really fast for her and Ash's group if they weren't able to react in time.

I was talking about guns firing actual bullets. The guns and rocket launchers firing nets or things that stun you never stopped appearing in the anime.

In Gen6, there were several instances of weapon systems shown in the anime and 17th movie, so they still exist. Kinda curious though how two of these were privatly owned...

>>59353439
>Even if guns existed, they are far too many Pokémon around.
Go the bioweapon route then. Tamper a bit with Pokérus and develop an strain which kills off or at least incapacitates a lot of them.
>>
Let's be real, any episode where they pulled a gun out got banned because of kid's media regulations and after the massive fucking recon they enacted, they decided guns were pointless in a world of pokémon.
I WILL say, it's entirely too funny seeing gundrones have an utter mental breakdown at a imaginary universe with no dick extensions to play with.

The mental gymnastics gunfags have been vomiting to try and convince others how guns would still exist in the pokeworld or how effective they could be in a world where squirrels shit lightning has been something else.

Pikachu was afraid of a guy carrying a gun and didn't act when Ash told him to attack. Afterwards both Misty and Brock basically called him dumb for doing that.
>>
>>59353089
No, guns likely still exist (Remoraid exists to inspire the creation of guns after all, given Pokemon loves to use "the mon came before the thing" for its worldbuilding), they've just been pushed out of sight and out of mind because Pokemon is a franchise for toddlers.
>>

Sure there are more Pokemon that could deal with a human holding a gun, but I still think the species that could are much smaller in number than the ones who can't. And the absence of guns or any weapons to replace them make Pokemon look even more pathetic when they now can't handle a bunch of guys with sticks.

I think they switched away from guns as to not scare the kiddies. Guns likely still exist but between all the nutters shooting up people in the US and elsewhere, they probably wanted to distance themselves from it a little.

Seeing as it's the only Pokemon media that had guns in it and the op was a screenshot of the anime then there's no reason we shouldn't.
But only looking at the games then I think to this scene in USUM where Ghetsis holds Lillie hostage and the protag apparently can't do anything with any of their Pokemon to stop him and needs Colress to bail them out. It makes me think if any of the evil grunts had a gun then the protags wouldn't be able to do jackshit.
>>
>>59358396
>>59358146
It was interesting too since it was an attempt to answer that question. Jenny even warns Ash this was luckily just a training exercise and to only let law enforcement handle firearms.
>>
>>59358396
They also could not do anything if he had a Pokemon there ready to beam through her skull. Why are you not getting this? Are gunfags actually retarded?

>Seeing as it's the only Pokemon media that had guns in it and the op was a screenshot of the anime
Agreed, OP should’ve just been called a faggot for thinking the Ashnime matters and everyone should have gone on their way.
>>
>>59358431
>They also could not do anything if he had a Pokemon there ready to beam through her skull. Why are you not getting this? Are gunfags actually retarded?
Are you? Elio/Chicken couldn't do anything to stop Ghetsis when he's threatening Lillie without any weapon. This is the same person whose Pokemon just beat Groudon, Kyogre, Dialga/Palkia, Xerneas/Yveltal, and Reshiram/Zekrom. So if their Pokemon are useless against some old guy standing a meter away from their hostage then what will they do when their trainer is held at gunpoint? This is like Harry Potter fags seething that a gun would be more effective than wands.
>>
>>59358187
Am I the only one who found the size/height disparity between the main cast and the adult characters weird around OS-DP? SM/JN was able to make the main cast designs look like actual children, but before that their body shapes looked like slightly shrunk down versions of teenager-adult characters, which especially made the adult characters looked bigger than they probably were.
>>
>>59358566
Also, Brock is that one character I always picture as an adult, but then you see the main cast interacting with adult characters and he ends up looking just as little lmao
>>

There could be also a Physical / Special splitt in weapons.

Pokémon body can tank something that can cut though metal like butter, their body is too tough for bullets.
