In theory there should be variance because of card draw, but in practice you build a Greninja engine and pare down your deck of 60 card to like 20 cards by the end of turn two and then it's just a matter of following your flowchart. Now, obviously at a higher level it's more than that, but it's definitely a barrier to entry for some people. But again, everyone is different. I like games with more luck elements, others don't; we can both play games we find fun.
