Since she represents a moral ideal juxtaposing Ruby's degeneracy, she has an ironic habit of forgiving terrorists and people who treat her like shit. So no matter how annoying Drew is I think she'd still end up considering him a friend. I doubt Drew has ever been as bad as Ruby used to be, and Sapphire's always been nice to Ruby even though he didn't deserve it. Like with Ruby, Sapphire will eventually see through Drew's arrogant facade and understand he's actually a nicer person on the inside, even if he doesn't want to be honest about it.

Sapphire's just as comically straight as Ruby is, so she likes strong guys, she's not into fruity guys just for being fruity. So if Drew's only good at contests, but sucks at traditional battling, then Sapphire's not going to start falling for him. And even if Drew was good at both, he's not a mentally ill psycho who needs fixing like Ruby so Sapphire might pass on Drew anyway.So Sapphire might consider Drew a step down from Ruby, but that doesn't actually mean Drew is worse, it just means Sapphire is mentally ill too.
