Bros... Champions being a live service game and monopolizing turn-based combat makes me scared... perchance this means that no other mainline games will ever be turn-based again, so every combat system now will be a soulless slop mix between GO, PLA and PLZA systems...

Cry more, faggot

winds and waves will be turn based at least, dont worry, that much is confirmed.
of course nothing has been confirmed of gen 11 but lets cross that bridge when we get to it.

source? because it's not.
>>
>>59368603
>perchance this means that no other mainline games will be boring dogshit
wtf I love champions now
>>
>>59369092
the trailer showed turn based footage.
>No it didnt
you are just blind.
>>
>>59368603
Champions is shit and flopped anyways, doubt it becomes the standard
>>
>>59369205
This

>>59368603
WiWa is turn-based, an interview already hinted at it.
But who knows for gen 11 or gen 12.
>>
>>59369199
Timestamp?
>>
>>59368603
Agreed. PLA was slightly better than the rest of them but not by much.
>>59369205
Did it actually flop? I guess we'll have to wait for more confirmation. An online only live service game being the future of my favorite battle mechanics is a huge fear of mein.
>>
>>59369401
Yeah it flopped theres probably only like 40 million downloads
>>
>>59369418
I can't believe that Scarlet and Violet is going to be my last time experiencing actual Pokemon combat. I guess I have to grow up from video games eventually.
>>
>>59369310
When they flick the camera focus to the MC throwing a ball to catch a pikachu, you dumb little cunt.
>>59369443
It won't be, Teraleak outright said going forward from Legends the paired games would have the classic turn based engine and the Legends series would explore alternative battle systems, instead of poisoning what's worked for them for 30 years.
Jesus christ, you cunts are thick - is it not enough the fucking VGC app, that they EXPECT kids to pick up and play alongside the new game releases in the future has a turn based engine in it already? You fucking think they'd FORCE cunts, let alone fucktard children of the modern era to learn a whole new battle engine after being introduced to the series with WW?
>>
>>59369597
Pokemon is seething over Palworld right now and the flavor of the month complaint is about the Pokemon combat system. The release of Champions as the future of competitive battling means that singles enjoyers or just anybody who doesn't want to be forced into ILCA's dogshit is likely to be out of luck.

Don't forget that Mario Kart World and Zelda have both dramatically changed how the fundamentals of the series worked despite nobody liking the former.
>>
>>59369418
>40 million downloads
That's a lot. Why is this considered little?
>>
>>59368603
You can't just say perchance
>>
>>59369755
Perhaps

I agree that it feels as though Champions is designed as a retirement home for VGC and the legacy combat system.
You'd think it would be a poor time to do so given VGC's substantial popularity growth in the past decade, but some developers/suits are just spiteful.
Like you. I hope I'm wrong because ZA's combat was shallow garbage that I was bored of halfway through the game.
>>
Any action-oriented combat will suffer the same fate as modern Final Fantasy that has you hold 1 button to win the battle.
At least turn-based Pokemon has some semblance of strategy if GF adds a hard mode or makes it a bit more difficult, but in some action-oriented combat made to appease to the "wide audience"? It would be shallow no matter what.
>>
>>59369695
thats the joke
>>
I really, really hope that the main gsmes do stop being turn based. I have nothing against turn based games but Pokemon is so fucking boring, GameFreak can't do anything but shitty ass 1v1s where you mash super effective move to sweep important trainer that has a full team of the same type dying to the same move in one hit.
There's a reason every other party based RPG doesn't do 1v1. It's ass.
>>
>>59369861
The core gameplay is one of the best aspects about Pokemon. They just need to make PvP (singles) rules the standard instead of the game going out of its way to prevent the player from having a semblance of a challenge.

>don't forget that Zelda returned to the game design formula of my youth
Yeah, I know. The last two have been the best Zelda games I played for childhood nostalgia. But that's them returning to their original vision, not changing how they always played to fit within a template, like LttP enforced.
And that's doubly irrelevant when there's no competitive Zelda beyond speedruns and comp Mario Kart is still "drive fast as fuck boi" using the mechanics of the day. Pokémon however has deigned important to carry the turn based engine to the VGC hub. And given they'll likely return VGC to the games when they launch (best way to drive sales of Switch 2's is ensure the full-fat VGC comps run on WW/Switch 2 only for the first three years of launch), it's in their interests to keep the engines the same, to ensure no kid gets plebfiltered like so many plebs self-filter themselves online.

They want Champions to last forever and are making it the future of VGCs. Pokemon is trying to change how it does everything to cater to mobile. I pray it shoots them in the foot but this means they aren't planning on using the main games for competitive anymore.

It's time to copy genius sonority and make a game fully 2v2.
Even for wild battles.

Oh so it's not confirmed and you are just full of shit got it!
>>
>>59368603
Well if they get rid of turn based combat in mainline I'm out. I tried out Z-A and absolutely hated it. It was the most braindead game I've played in ages. Dexit pissed me off but as long as they rotate who's in and out of each entry I can accept it. Removing turn-based combat is basically killing Pokemon's identity as a game series, so that'll be it for me. I already play romhacks and showdown more than the mainline games so whatever.
>>
>>59370481
The combat is the only thing differentiating it from other monster collectors. Pokemon really is just butthurt that Palworld is allowed to exist and I'm worried they're going to turn the next game into diet Palworld with all it's stupid unfun mechanics.
>>
maybe we can get double battles as the standard in mainline now that normies are being exposed to vgc
>>
>>59370510
I hope not that would suck for legendaries and just suck in general.
>>
>>59370408
Anon, they don't really care about champions, or Game Freak themselves would have done it all in-house, like with every OTHER Pokémon title that they actually care about (Like making Legends; Arceus, instead of yet ANOTHER enforced shitty remake after they'd thought they finished with remakes in Gen 4).
The fact they use marketingspeak all the time means cunts like you regurgitate it back at me blindly, while ignoring Game Freak's actual roles within Nintedo's ecosystem. Game Freak's whole remit is to sell consoles alongside their games. And locking VGC back to cart affords that better than keeping the comp on F2P where the poors and browns live, because it ensures every cunt showing up to enter has ALSO given Nintendo the price of a Switch 2 unit. AND paid their NSO fee. AND bought a Home sub, particularly since the new system won't be hacked, cracked or backwards engineered to produce an emulator by the time Gen 10 rolls out next year.

Everything you said is smart, but Nintendo is not being smart right now. The problem is unless you think Gamefreak and ILCA are fighting with each other Champions was CLEARLY designed to replace the mainline way to play competitive Pokemon.

I don't think Pokemon cares about the video games in general since most of their sales come from toys and the TCG. The fans are the biggest sheep in the world and will eat trash like Pokemon Champions up and engage in shitty gacha decisions. Ironically the biggest hope is that this game falls flat in the mobile sphere so that way people from other communities shit on Champions just like SV's shitty reputation outside forced them to release a free update to the Switch 2.
