I mean think about it, it's the colours of the trans flag, it was released in gen 6 and the sixth month of the year is pride month, it was released in a Kalos which is based on France, the first country in Europe to legalise LGBT and has a vibrant LGBT culture, hence why Paris is often called Gay Paree and Eevee evolving into Sylveon is almost like a boy transitioning into a beautiful woman instead of becoming a masculine Jolteon or Vaporeon, all this makes me believe that Sylveon was meant to be a trans icon and it obviously worked as it became one of the most popular pokemon out there, probably in the top 10.

It's not out of the ordinary for pokemon as in the same gen, there was a transgender pokemon trainer in the form of a Beauty who used to be a Black Belt and then there was Penny who has a very androgynous design, coloured hair and uses a Sylveon as her ace, also bare in mind she is a victim of bullying like alot of transfolk in the real world. There's also the nonbinary Rika off the elite four and the gay relationship with Brassius and Hassel and the times in the anime Ash Ketchum and James from Team Rocket crossdressed. I think pokemon has always been progressive since it's creation.

I think in gen 10, we will finally have a openly transgender pokemon character that will dwelve into there backstop of what it's like to be trans and mabye there pokemon team will reflect that.
