Dragon has a lot of strong members individually, but a good chunk of the off-mons really only thrive in TR with which Dragon natively has no options for. The rest are solid as single-picks, but they don't really synergize with each other outside of that, beyond basic shit like spamming E-Quake on Garchomp with a D-Nite/Hydreigon partner.
>>59395624It's probably the best type outright in the game. Great mons, resists the most types at a base level, strong against Dragon and Fairy, which make up the other big three best typings. They have a really strong roster this time around, too. Ghouldengo, Kingambit, Corviknight, etc, all top tier mons.
>>59396121Normal has decently strong megas like Kang, Staraptor, Lopunny, and Pyroar. Also got some good supporters like Oranguru, Maushold, and Farigiraf. H-Zoroark, Snorlax, and Ditto can also cheese the right situations.The mostly neutral type matchups of Normal are usually a negative, but I suppose in a monotype environment it could be useful. Plus even without STAB, their movepool coverage is generally good.The problem comes from the fact that outside of the 'mons I listed it's a small pool of remaining choices are kind of middling. They also lack a major X-factor to push them higher in power like weather, terrain, etc. You could probably make a decent Trick Room team though.Psychic has a lot of generally strong 'mons across the board with a much better variety of secondary typings compared to Normal. Unfortunately, so do Ghost and Dark which basically cancels out the advantage. Plus they won't be happy to be on the reviving end of any U-turns. That said, Expanding Force and Stored Power sets could be devastating if you don't resist.You can do well with Normal and Psychic for sure, I just think the types above it are stronger. Poison is an excellent defensive typing with sleeper megas and access to good hazards/status. Rock has rockslide spam, high power moves without recoil on Rock Head mons, stealth rock, plus the chip and defensive benefits of sandstorm. Finally Dragon is just pure BST bloat with well rounded resists, easy setup opportunities, and various forms of weather synergy.

>>59410536There are some sweaty opponents. Even they can be interesting to deal with if you're running a team of non-meta favorites. There is plenty of people who embrace experimenting, casuals, and newbies who haven't touched competitive. For the most part, everyone is trying to have fun with the mono type format. My first mono tournament with this group was the ZA tournament from this January. I don't play comp and I had a great time. I became a Champion, but lost to the next challenger the same day. It was definitely worth it. I entered this one too and am just playing with my favorite Pokemon, but applying what I've learned since the last tournament. If you're interested at all, I recommend entering and not worry about how fierce the competition can be. This is a great chance to try something new or that you've been thinking about that you might not have done otherwise. See ya on the battlefield!
