It took them a minute to make a true follow up to gens 1-2 after pokemania died and the dark ages of gens 3-7, but I think it’s safe to say we’re finally here.

kind of embarrassing Pokemon couldn't outdo its own originals from the 90s. Maybe if SwSh/ScVi were good games they would've crossed 40m
