What pokemon do you think fans are using in ways very different from what Gamefreak planned?For instance, they gave Machamp line No Guard, and its G-Max design has glowey orange fists.Meaning when they designed "Machamp but more machamp" the first thing that came to their mind was seemingly Dynamic Punch, like how people are using the new M-Raichu Y for Zap Cannon.M-Malamar feels like another dead giveaway. They gave it an extra THIRTY GODDAMN POINTS in special attack, and while it does indeed get contrary, nothing about that visual design screams "spam superpower." They could have made a muscular squid, they made it spindly, big brain, with glowey swirly hand gestures. Plus I've never seen a single set use its signature move Topsy-Turvy, and I'd assume GF expects pokemon that have one to use them regularly.Not that I know what it IS supposed to be doing. Skill Swap maybe? Stored Power? But there's clearly a disconnect.

I think maybe they expected Eviolite TypeNull to be a thing, since it's just slower Silvally without the signature move. Like marowak got the thick club bone and farfetched got the leek stick, chansey has a unique held item, the lucky punch.It's basically a +2 scope lens like Leek. Except it works on JUST chansey, not happiny or blissey.Still doesn't seem very good, but there's youtube video titles implying it's not the worst set ever.Sableye's stall is a signature ability. I feel like most signature abiltities are probably expected to be used at least sometimes. No one ever touches stall for the same reason no one ever touches lagging tail. >>59381516Until recently, a big one was Empoleon. Gamefreak kept trying for a decade to make it into some sort of setup physical attacker even though they gave it stats that make it impossible and a movepool that gets mogged by surf.

Ice Spinner and Triple Axel isn't bad.and the design definitely looks like a physical attacker, with those big bladed wingflippers and trident horns, and the dex entries agree.they finally gave it the movepool, after they already swapped it from Defiant to Competitive.
