I'm upset that it doesn't have that Aardman signature look. I wanted Sirfetch'd with a big toothy grin but instead it's 100% on model to fulfill some sort of mandate.

That's because the "Aardman" style is actually the "Nick Park" style. Aardman's been around longer than Nick Park's been alive and did more animated work not in the W&G style than IN the W&G style. There's also the fact this thing happened because TPC went to Aardman and said "we want an animated show featuring our creatures", so there was going to be little wiggle room for off-style creations unlike if Nick Park went to them and said "hey, I have an idea for a series of shorts with a couple pokémon, can I please make it as I envisioned it?".
