I tuned in once and he was just constantly reseting in BF until he got a good starting set, then mashes the same attack 7 sets in the row, hoping for favorable matchups form the computer, and reseting if it goes bad.

That's what happens when you go for an optimized rng based category like that. When the time to aim for is easy to get you don't need to reset but when there is a strong time already you need basically perfect luck the whole run. I imagine that speedrun is pretty optimized at this point.
