The local toy chain store to me regularly offers new release pokémon games with a discount on actual RRP and it's also coming up to amazon's midsummer's day sale event, so small wonder a game 9 months old is getting a discount, they're actively trying to court more sales than usual.
But this is company specific (of which every retail chain could do if they wished. Most don't as they generally offer games alongside a plethora of other electronics, tech and similar, toy shops can, because the bulk of their sales will be parents shopping for kids. or kids being bought something on-the-day-with which opens up greater opportunities for higher income per transactions to cover shitheads like me buying online, getting delivery and not paying aboyve RRP each time.

Bonglander here and I have to ask, is finding Nintendo games for less than market price THAT hard in the US? Amazon always plays it loose with prices so games are rarely full price or if they are, then they usually go down after some time.
DK Bananza was £65 when it came out but now it's £45 on Amazon which is less than a new Switch 1 game. Legends ZA is down to £43, too.
