Realistically if they moved the damage from darkrai to after the sleep flip, the game wouldn't feel like such hot garbage.
That or just changing how sleep works in general to only be a one turn affect like paralysis, but instead of just being a paralysis clone you could still retreat, just at an additional cost.

Turn 1 attacks have zero issues for anyone that isn't sleepshit. turn 1 energy gen baby is basically saying you're giving up a point to be ahead on energy and evolution and hopefully outrun your opponent that way. turn 1 chingling is less annoying but it stops pokeballs at least, chingling really only cares about stopping rare candies so it wants to attack turn 2 or 3.

None of the other babies even matter and are largely just free points for your opponent. Saying no turn 1 attacks is just needlessly punishing Mantyke/Pichu/Magby and those are barely any good anyways. Any other possible turn 1 attack should be rewarded as well since it's all coinflip RNG anyways.
