After you get surf go back to pallet town then get articuno then go back and get koga then take the path down for exp then fly to cinnabar

Technically the correct path is Fuchsia, though I admittedly did Pallet as a kid because it was simpler and so was I.

Seafoam Islands have more buildup and only returning home just before the final gym has more dramatic flair than awkwardly shuffling back and forth between towns

The intended path is through Seafoam because getting Fly is very off the path and Fuschia, the furthest you can explore, naturally leads to Seafoam, and from there to Cinnabar.

It’s quicker to just skip Seafoam islands, but you’d be missing out on a ton of content and it’s clearly a break from the intended path.

Left. I always returned to Pallet Town, record Cinnabar as a checkpoint, and make the Seafoam Island's puzzle, that way I could cross to Fuchsia easily.
