I'm like 99% sure that the Switch 2 was planned to release alongside the SV DLC together with the performance patch so that people would be more forgiving, but then the Switch 2 release was delayed.

I worry that like with SV, as shown in >>59406455, we may see the visuals downgraded to get it to run properly on the system. In the same vein, I don't think the switch was the issue with SV, given Xenoblade 3 released on the same system in the same year with very little choppiness and a lot less pop-in. GF seem to consistently make the worst compromises way too late into development for Pokémon games, and given what we saw from the tera leak, they know they're falling short of what they can do, but they didn't seem to propose a solution to the problem.

Except the difference is that SV looked like shit in it's initial trailer whereas winds and waves looks infinitely better at reveal, albeit nothing too crazy in terms of a leap in graphics. I think part of them does know if they do downgrade after the positive reception of the reveal trailer, they'll get more backlash than they did with SV's launch
But GF IS retarded and can't handle modern console gaming so I wouldn't doubt it

It's nice that they're actually putting effort into the environments this time but I have a feeling this is only going to make things worse. That increase in visual fidelity requires more effort to be put into the Pokémon as well but I highly doubt that's going to happen. Wingull tweening all over the place looked bad but it at least looked fittingly bad when the last few gens have been absolute dogshit visually overall. Put that sort of shit in a decent looking game and it sticks out even more.

The world will probably look okay but the NPCs are still going to look like character creator dogshit, Pokémon are still going to have lazy animations, a lot of character animations in general are going to be recycled(prepare to see the Hop hand wave again) and the flow of the game is going to be ruined by handholding cutscenes every ten steps.

Yes, it's absolutely an optimization issue first and foremost. They're using their shitty in-house engine, and they're obviously still 3D amateurs all things considered. So it's basically unavoidable that their own engine is a fucking spaghetti code mess, especially if they just keep tacking on shit on top of their old engine instead of overhauling the whole thing. They straight up just don't have time for that if they shit out a game every 2-3 years, even lack of expertise aside.
SV looks like a PS2 game because their skill and expertise is equal to people who used to make PS2 games and use similar limited techniques. They just lack the skill to make a game that holds up to the current standard.
I'm convinced that Beast of Reincarnation is supposed to be practice project just to learn what a modern engine is supposed to be like. I mean it's Unreal slop, but I'm sure that Unreal Engine looks like fucking magic compared to whatever they're using for Pokémon.
The gen 10 engine definitely seems better though, wonder if they just hired a couple of engineers to overhaul theirs or if it's a new engine entirely.
